THEY WERE EVERYTHING I WAS TRYING TO AVOID…read more.... At first glance, this company seemed awesome - great reviews, great sales guy, great pricing, great at scheduling and great communication. BUT my problems began when my insurance agency deemed my roof "UNACCEPTABLE." Here are some names to remember and steer clear of: Brock Steinmetz (Owner), TJ Chatham (guy who actually did the roof), and Bailey Scott (office manager). At first, TJ was very helpful about "getting this fixed" because he'd never been in this situation before. And then, when I tried to ACTUALLY get this fixed and they ALL WENT SILENT, including the owner, he would never call or email me back, nor the insurance agent back. We BOTH tried to contact them and received crickets. I've tried to contact them 16 times since January 10th, and they've responded with 2 phone calls to me; one from Brock himself (a voicemail) saying he's at my house "looking at the roof now and I'm going to get this taken care of" and another from Bailey who said "I'm sorry there's been miscommunication and I thought they called you back but your file is open and on Brock's desk so he will give you a call when he gets back". Here is my phone log to TJ, Brock AND Bailey: Jan 10, Jan 12, Jan 17, Jan 18, Jan 22, Jan 23, Jan 24, Jan 30, Feb 1, Feb 2, Feb 5, Feb 13. I have never spoken with the owner of this company directly. Add on a handful more calls from my insurance agency and I'm sure we'd be pushing ~25 phone calls. Not to mention any of the follow-up emails sent after a voicemail was left. I've kept all my call logs, emails, and text messages. Here's the problem: insurance deemed my roof "UNACCEPTABLE" because it's wavy. I worked with insurance to get all the documentation they needed and even had a time set up for another inspector to meet them at the house. THEY DIDN'T RETURN MY PHONE CALLS and left me high & dry. Moral of the story is - Columbia Exteriors and Brock Steinmetz play BAD BUSINESS. They take your money and run, leaving you with a roof that can't be fully insured. The worst part is I did my homework; it took me 5 months to find a roofer that I felt like was the right fit; I made sure to double and triple check the contract/payment terms/timeline; I even made sure that I paid AFTER the work was complete. How would anybody know that a professional would do work like this? News is, you wouldn't unless you were a roofer and/or an inspector with the eye and knowledge to understand what is "good" and what is "BAD" in terms of completeness. Now I'm stuck with a BAD ROOF. Take my experience as a piece of advice and STAY AWAY. This review will be pasted at every single portal I can possibly find so that nobody EVER has to deal with this situation like I had to deal with. Josh clearly reflects the company's philosophy for professionality and for integrity. After my AC stopped working, we spent two grueling days in a hot and humid house. Before I found Santa Fe, I called another company that seem to have great reviews based on Google business ratings, I later found that they are rated 2.5 stars on Yelp (don't trust Google for real reviews). The first company sent a technician out, who had a faulty meter and could not complete a full diagnostic, but, he said he was pretty sure the compressor needed replacing ($3000). Being that he did not do a full diagnostic, I turned the offer down. That night, after reading more reviews on local companies, I decided to schedule an appointment with Santa Fe Air heating and cooling, this was easily done on their web site. I did not have to wait long, at 0715 the next morning, Santa Fe called me to set up an appointment. In less than an hour one of their technician was at my house. Josh had me turn the AC unit on, and found that the unit was running properly, blowing plenty of cold air. The unit had been shut off since the previous company's visit, who had suggested to keep the unit turned off until the repair was completed. Josh asked me if the filter had been changed recently, as a dirty filter can cause the unit to lock, and that this had been mostly likely the problem. As a matter of fact, I had changed the filter the night before, after I realized that the filter was very dirty. The other company did not mention the filter as a possible cause, and rather had me incur an expensive repair. It has been 3 days since then and my AC is running great. I will be purchasing one of their maintenance plan for piece of mind. I can't say enough good things about my experience with Santa Fe Air heating and cooling. I am impressed with their integrity and values that are now days very hard to find. I will be calling them for all my HVAC needs.
