Internet buffered constantly! Had to call to cancel because they won't let you online. Did this on August 28th. Returned equipment to store, 23 people in line so I took it to UPS. Got another bill on Sept 9, they said I never canceled. Tried to offer me service and got mad when I refused and wanted to just cancel. Supervisor wouldn't get on call. Spectrum internet in KS goes offline and reconnects at least 4 times while watching a 2 hour movie. Lately it became worst. Apartment companies are blocking Google fiber, If apartments allow google fiber 100% of the renters will disconnect permanently from spectrum. My bill doubled every month from what it was supposed to be to a price I couldn't afford. You know how you're always told that no relationship is better than a bad relationship? That's the case with Spectrum! Spectrum is the epitome of the terrible sh*tty partner. They have no communication skills, bleed you dry, give you a hard time when you really want out, tell you the competition is worse, and don't give two sh*ts about you. I only went with Spectrum (TWC) because it was the only ISP offered in my apartment complex at the time. Talk about slim pickings. I settled. It's like settling for Billy Bob because you live in a town with a population of 8. Anyway, about ten months in, my plan went up without notice, so I decided to use the their chat feature to talk to a rep about reducing my internet to a lower speed to save money. Instead of helping me, the reps "transferred" me numerous times via the chat app and repeatedly told me to "please hold while they worked on the issue." This went on for an hour! It shouldn't have been that effing difficult. In the end, I called and cancelled my service. That was no easy feat either. All I wanted was to have my plan changed and they were too inept to do so, so I'm out! Nearly two hours from start to finish to end it. Lesson? Breakups are better over the phone than via text. I called to help relative set up service. Spectrum convinced us to switch cell service from current provider. They said they would send SIM card to current address. I got tracking info and they sent to new address, which won't work because it is unoccupied and a delivery signature is required. I called to ask them to ship to current address like they said they would, and after waiting on hold and getting cut off I finally talked to someone who said they cannot send to the current address, despite what I was told yesterday. They said they would cancel the order and refund the initial payment, and email me confirmation because I was late to a meeting and didn't want to spend more time on the phone with them. When they did not email me like they said they would I called back to confirm cancellation/refund. I was told they do not provide confirmation, despite what the earlier rep told me, but that the refund should be processed in 48 hours. I asked to speak to supervisor to explain things so they can try to do better with their next customer. I was put on hold and then told the supervisor was with someone else, so I left my phone number for them to call me back. I will attempt to provide an update on whether they actually call back. I never got one paper bill at my home. Called in Nov to inquire about putting acct on seasonal status. As I had gotten NO bills, I was then one month behind. Had to make a 2-month payment, then they were supposed to put acct on seasonal status. Called today, again they say I owe 2 months. They say they have no record of my call, no notation that the acct needed seasonal status. If I could give negative stars I would. Customer service is a joke. All was well until a week ago when cable service started freezing up. First technician said it was a "systems issue" and didn't even come in the front door. Told me it would be fixed in a few days. When I called back a few days later I was told it was a box issue and they replaced the box. Two days later I found out that this box doesn't have the same capabilities as the old box....fewer options, not able to tape more than one show and watch another one... I called 'customer service' and was told that yes, I had a different subpar box and that if I wanted to, I could take it to the local office and exchange it for a larger capacity one. Great, I asked for the local number to see if they have one available, told there are no local numbers...! So I need to disconnect and go to the office in the hopes that they have one.... Really? Called back to ask for information about inventory...told, sorry they have no way of checking inventory you just have to take your chances... Without a doubt the WORST customer service in any industry. I literally had my service disconnected a week after having it installed because of their inability to fulfill my order. Resolving the issue online was impossible and customer service via phone required more than 45 minutes of hold time and was still unresolved. The people at the 119th St store were nice enough but couldn't do anything until the manager or supervisor was back in the office. I ended up getting ATT Uverse instead and have had a much better experience. I would do without cable and home internet if Spectrum was the only provider. Avoid them like the plague! read more

Run for the hills! Our billing is wrong every month. Calling their customer service department to get it fixed monthly is a part time job and extremely inconvenient. Our contract is up and we are turning in the boxes and migrating to DirecTV. Incompetent customer service reps run rampant in this company. Getting someone from the US is the exception. You will find yourself hanging up on reps and calling back until you can get a representative who is from the US and speaks English articulately and as a primary language. Beware of calling in and activating service under an advertised promotion. It's all smoke and mirrors. The install was completely botched and after hours and hours on the phone with the customer service department we reluctantly agreed to a slightly higher price than what the promo department guaranteed us to get us to sign on for service. Eventually, the time commitment it takes to sort out the mess wears you down and you'll agree to most anything to stop wasting time in your life babysitting your billing. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing here. Save yourself a mountain of headaches and go with another provider. Time Waster Cable is a mess! read more

The ONLY reason they get two stars instead of one is that they're just a tiny itty bit better than Surewest/Consolidated or whatever their current name is. So let me outline the ways in which they suck: Apparently, when they supposedly upgraded our speed (for an increased price) because it was SOOO slow when we first signed up, they increased our price in their system, but never actually updated the speed. Two months ago, they raised our price again, although the customer rep claimed that they hadn't when I called. WTF? Are your systems so bad that you have no clue what you're charging people or the speed they're supposed to be getting? As the customer, I know what speed I'm getting because I do speed checks; I know what I'm supposed to be getting because I'm not an idiot; and I know what I've been paying. Why don't they know this as well?? Simply preposterous. So our speed is bad. We're paying $70/month now for internet only and our speed runs 12-15 mbps on a good day. Apparently, we're paying for 30 mbps, but due to their error for which they will not take responsibility nor return money for what we have overpaid, we've been set to get only 20 mbps (which isn't really that fast at all). At least, that's what I gleaned from a frustratingly circular, very long conversation with their customer service. I am really sad that Google Fiber won't be arriving in Overland Park for awhile. So in the meantime, we're probably just going to have to switch providers again. Currently, ATT is advertising 45 mbps for $5 less per month than our current price, so rather than continuing to pay for horrendously slow and spotty internet, we will likely switch...again. Based on our experience, we would never recommend TWC, but if there were only a choice between them and Surewest/Consolidated, I would choose TWC. read more

I've been a customer of TWC since 2001. For the most part I have been happy with the service. Today my wife called to downgrade our service. All we need is TV and Phone, we wanted to drop Internet service completely, but keep TV and phone. I guess according to Floyd it can not be done. Every chance he got he kept asking what channels we watch, what do you use the internet for, etc. Non stop. We have the full package TV so we watch it all. So after being on the phone with Floyd for 50 mins with multiple 5 min holds, she got fed up and asked for his supervisor. He asked us why and he stated he can't transfer us to a supervisor without a reason. We don't need a reason to ask for a supervisor. So we finally said, to complain about you Floyd. It was still 5 more minutes before he got us a supervisor. So we unfortunately ended up canceling TWC completely because of Floyd and their inflexibly on their packages. They even had the gall to quote some sales pitch during this mess, "the more you buy the more you save." or something like that. So sad because we did want to stay with TWC. Google fiber here we come. Google Fiber was just a few clicks on the services you wanted, and done. No constant sale pitches read more

I currently am a customer with Time Warner Cable. If I had other cable options I would have left a long time ago. The biggest con that I find with TWC is the service itself. The wireless constantly disconnects and the DVR box is very slow and glitchy. The second con is the Customer Service. We have called TWC multiple times regarding the problems above. After many transfers and being on hold for extended periods of time, you already are irritated and you haven't even talked to anybody yet. Once you do get somebody, they either don't understand you or what you're talking about. Their solution to everything is to send someone out to your place to "take a look" at things. But they aren't in a hurry to help, you'll have to wait at least 3 days before someone comes out. On top of all this, they don't seem to document any conversation (although they say they do). You might as well be talking to a wall. Now I'll be nice and say that when you do get fed up and decide to cut off services, they sure like to suck up. I originally only had wireless internet but decided a few months ago to try cable. It was the most shady advertisement I had ever seen. I simply called back a day or two after I received the cable and told them I would no longer need it because it wasn't what I wanted or expected. To keep me on, they loaded me up with the top speed internet (not that it matters, it still disconnects) and a free DVR recording system with over 200 channels. But hey it's easy to give away free stuff when it doesn't work. Still, as soon as I have other cable options, I'll be leaving for good. read more

We had time Warner for years before spectrum bought them out and never had any email issues. Since spectrum bought them out our email is completely unreliable and every month we get email mail from companies telling us they were unable to send us emails as the account was reported as temporarily unavailable and naturally spectrum blames the other companies. Spectrum staff is lazy and incompetent at best. This loss of emails has cost us thousands of dollars as companies were unable to contact us on a timely basis which is why we don't use snail mail. Avoid this company at all costs if you ever expect your email to be reliable at all!!! read more

I have to qualify this--I'm giving Time Warner Cable's Overland Park office four stars. Time Warner Cable...not so much. I hate calling the main number, because it's just a constant battle of people trying to up-sell you on services every time. Last year I tried to make a slight change to my service, and I had to make three calls, two of which lasted longer than an hour and one of which finally resulted in me yelling at the guy and threatening to drop my service completely if he even tried to sell me some other product. (I felt kind of bad, because I got very nasty, and I'm not that guy. But they pushed me to it...) However, Time Warner's OP office is great. I've called them several times, and they have always been helpful. Most recently, I called to transfer my service as my wife and I are moving to a new house. They assigned me a "moving concierge," Mae, who is incredibly friendly and helpful. And she has not once tried to up-sell me. In fact, she asked what kind of devices we use on our wifi and said that, yes, the data plan we have for our internet should be more than sufficient. If I could just deal with the OP office and never had to call the main office, I would be such a happy customer. read more

I should have listened to the Spectrum technician who came to our home and said "Spectrum sales representatives often lie to customers to increase their commissions." I called Spectrum to compare Spectrum streaming costs to TV costs. The sales representative quoted an Internet and combined TV cost that was $111. Boxes of Spectrum equipment arrived the next day including equipment for services I DID NOT request including a landline phone device and Apple TV device - for $156/month (before taxes) and $180 for the Apple TV device. I spent 3 hours on the phone trying to cancel the TV service - and I'm stuck with a $180 Apple device I did not want. Spectrum representatives suggested I sell it on Facebook Marketplace. I am checking out other Internet services so I can break with Spectrum and their dishonest practices permanently. read more
