The food is authentic. I brought my friend who is from Southern India and he said it was very much like the food in his region: Hot! Make sure you have rice along side your curries and other delicious entrees. The buffet is full of various appetizers and entrees. Ordered 3 items- chicken lollilop, chicken curry and goat biriyani. The chicken curry was good. Chicken lollipop, didn't like their new recipe, the old one was better. Goat biriyani was a disaster. They served us lunch leftover, extremely dry goat biriyani which was very bad due to its dryness. I don't expect this kind of food in ala carte. Very disappointed. Another problem with this restaurant is that there is no taste consistency in most of their menu items, every visit , the food tastes different. Ambassador was the first Indian food I had ever experienced. So it has a special place in my heart. This place is definitely not Ambassador. I was kind of shocked when we showed up and it had been changed, but we went in up for a new experience, yet a little sad at the loss of our beloved Ambassador. The food was Very yummy. Made a mistake by ordering takeout from them, pathetic food I have ever had. The dish was watery, no ingrediants as mentioned in the dish. I think their chef definitely need cooking classes. This guys are extremely slow. If you are ordering anything it takes close to 30-40 mins to get things on table.

They have good service and a really huge buffet full of all your favorites and some other really beautiful and delicious options. The decor is really cool as well and creates a fun environment! Extremely disappointing experience in my recent visit. I have had food here before and I can literally see a lot has changed but not for good reasons. First off no one greeted us or asked if we wanted a table until i waved at one of the waiters who was running about frantically. Second when we were seated drinking water was not served until we asked for it couple times, i think this one is on the waiter to blame. Third, we came in for a buffet, there were no appetizers, waited but were not refilled. Food tasted bland and lacked flavor. This place was not like that before and I remember enjoying a well cooked biryani here and did I mention that the deserts were a disaster. On top of that there is extra premium that you pay since its the weekend grand buffet, there is really nothing grand about it. I would avoid this place after this experience. read more

Part of dinner arrived before appetizers, felt weird some of us having dinner and some are munching on appetizers. Also not all appetizers that we ordered came in timely manner. Bad service they should know the order of full course supper, it should be appetizers, than main course and finally desserts..The kid never expressed any sort of apology he just blew off. Food is good but service is the worst I have seen. Ordered for delivery and they were happy to take it but delivered it 2.5 hrs later and all the food was cold and had to reheat all the food items and that took another 15 min. Will never recommend this place or ever visit this place. read more

Excellent south Indian food in Boston with a good quality and service.

This is our first time here and We had come for dinner tonight. We ordered channa batura, aloo gobi, naan and old city veg biriyani. I liked the vast menu options to choose from. The food tasted really good. Spice level was just as we ordered. The biriyani quantity was too much. It was a rush dinner night, but the person who waited our table, PRATAP was really good. He was patient and friendly. I will definitely be back to try the other items in the menu. read more

This place is a hidden gem for authentic south Indian food. I've never been disappointed here. They have some unique offerings that are a welcome change from the typical cream heavy"curry"dishes served at most Indian restaurants. There fish kakinada is my personal fav and is served as a whole fish on a bed of salad. Their goat meat app is also another fav. Joys the server, is very knowledgeable and has never failed in his recommendations. The good food and attentive service is what makes me keep coming back!! read more

We went here at 1pm and the restaurant was packed full. Okay, it's peak weekend lunch time hours - but there was a long queue of around 50 people waiting in the hot sun outside, to get a place. We ended up waiting for 2 hours to be called up. The restaurant is v much in demand as their buffet is v good. One of the best Indian restaurants I have eaten in US. I would like to specially mention "Karthik" who works here. Very friendly and helps us get the best we can get even if we go minutes before the place closes. Awesome service by him. Thanks a ton Karthik. Keep up the good work. If you want to come for Indian food in general, then this would be a good place. Otherwise, the restaurant is a bit misleading in saying that it is "truly south indian." My family came here because we were craving South Indian food and was disappointed to see that they didn't even have Thaali. It was a mix of Indian foods in general and also had Chinese food and a Bhutanese dish. On top of that, the menu is massive, probably one of the biggest menus I've seen. The food is average and tastes good, but not the best. Tandoori chicken came in massive portions instead of the typical chicken legs and was also wet/mushy when it should be dry from being oven baked. However, presentation of food is delightful - shame the taste didn't live up to it. read more

All this time, the person on the phone kept on saying that the delivery guy was on the way, which wasn't true( we found out when he reached us). The food was cold when it reached us. The nans seemed like they had been packed a few hours ago. Also we had ordered butter nans which we got charged for, but were not delivered in the order. Not a pleasant experience. We went there after hearing about the good food. There is no mild or medium spice level food at this place. Kids had a hard time with the spice. Several items on the menu were not available or were told were never available. They had Bengali Gulab jamun on the menu and when ordered they brought us regular gulab jamun. This used to be 4-5 star place but on my last visit for lunch buffet, it seems to have gone downhill a bit. Buffet has less options than they used to have, not as out of the ordinary range, and not as fresh. First horrible experience at Godavari. Its around 2.30PM four of us reached for their lunch buffet. Items in menu sounded promising and few people items were missing and when i reached to them they said they would fill them up soon. But it took them forever to refill it. They had interesting item ulvacharu chicken in their course when i tried it first time i liked it and they vanished soon. It took them very long to refill and once they refilled i tried it was shocking it wasn't the same kind of chicken that we ate earlier it was tandoori chicken dumped in ulvacharu. The next one they had peanut chutney which was liquid enough to be called as sambar and it was ginger chutney rather than a peanut chutney. The items were not filled soon and we had to wait with empty plates they just managed to do some refill to make sure they are refilling till 3:30. Seriously a big disappointment over the weekend the fastest and tastiest chain in US for south Indian food turns out to be a disaster. read more

I visit this restaurant regularly. The food here is authentic and delicious. The only issue I faced was they don't have adequate seating to accomadate single customers and results in long wait times. Once when I got take out, my order was completely forgotten and had to wait an hour or so. But all the more, the food makes you forget minor hospitality issues. read more

The WORST experience ever.. wish I could give them negative stars it starts with a 1 hours wait... There is not one managing the crowd or making sure people waiting are taken care of... We are given a table after an hour and then no one even looks at us for about 15 20 mins.. Then we are told to order in one go.. (understandable as its late).. After that the food takes more than an hour.. people who ordered after us got served before us as they probably knew the owner.. We were told they are out of papads (appetizers) when they kept bringing them at other tables.. When you ask a server to check on your food, u get a blunt reply saying "will check" and they start playing with their phones.. .... The order was also messed up, but at the point we were so hungry that we just ate what we got and left.. The whole ordeal was 3+ hours.. read more

Food used to be great, but now is often cold, overcooked, raw spiced and unpleasant. I could still recommend the medu vada and gongura chicken kabab. But the long wait for a table on weekends, long waits for some dishes like dosa and frequently unavailable items on the menu has taken Godavari off my go-to places. read more
