Personally didn't like the flavor of either. The bean sprouts were tasty though. Rice cakes were tasty and spicy and the sauce was nice. Maybe could've had more fish cakes in it but overall was tasty. However I don't like their use of raw cabbage in it. It was not kimchi. Just raw shredded cabbage. Bulgogi tasted EXACTLY like yoshinoya beef. Yoshinoya is a chain of Japanese fast food bowls and is good, but not what I wanted in bulgogi. It tasted EXACLTY like it. No differences. It's more modern inside. They do charge 3.4%, which you find out after your card is run through. They should let you know this ahead of your card being charged in my opinion. The Korean drama Beauty Inside is playing on the TV. Ordered kimbap and added grilled kimchi, tteokbokki, spicy chicken, soondubu and added grilled kimchi and rice cakes too and two barley teas. $60.96 The bachans are pickled radish, bean sprouts and kimchi. They are out of kimchi fries today. The pickled radish is good, fresh and crunchy. The bean sprouts not bad either. The kimchi is very tart and bitter and not my jam, it's well past the due date for me. K drama scenes on the one wall. The one in the middle is from Hwang Jini. I knew I had seen it before. I don't know any of the others at all. The Kimbap tastes okay, but the rice is a bit mushy today. The tteokbokki is flavorful, the rice cake is nice and chewy. The sauce is good. The spicy chicken is good, saucy and lots of flavor. The soondubu is nice spicy, tastes a bit different from what I am used to, but still good. This placed used to be average years ago, but now it's BELOW average. Ordered delivery and they put the ramen noodles in the soup rather than separating the noodle from the soup (what time of Asian restaurant does that??), so that by the time it got to us, there was no soup at all because the nooes had absorbed everything and become so soggy that it was inedible. The kimchi jigae, priced at $19 should have been more like $5. Two pieces of tofu, three-four pieces of overcooked meat, and bland oversalted broth. I'm never coming back here. Decent Korean food if you're craving a few SK classics but not the best option in the game. This place is extremely understaffed, resulting in longer than normal wait times and mediocre service. Our favorites were the kimchi fries, tteokbokki, and "maeun ddak". I especially loved the kimbap and spicy rice cakes as they reminded me of my time as an expat in Korea. This used to be my go to Korean restaurant but with the price increasing to $24 from $18 AND cutting the portion size so drastically, I will not be back. Also, the woman there visibly treated the Asian customers poorly in comparison to the happy, chipper customer service she provided to the older Caucasian customers. NOLA, in my opinion, is still lacking in authentic Korean restaurants. I enjoy Korean food and I am always on the hunt for new Korean options. Gogi is a good option as they have most of the great Korean cuisine. Galbi (short ribs), kimchi stew (boiled kimchi, tofu, and veggies), bibimbap (rice with veggies, protein, and topped with an egg), and japchae (stir-fried glass noodles with veggies) are all popular Korean dishes. Gogi has all these choices and more. I have had the kimchi stew many times and it is very good. We really missed Gogi during the pandemic as they only allowed takeout. We really enjoy sundubu/soondubu at the restaurant so haven't been to Gogi for over a year. We called Gogi tonight and they were open for in-person dining! Yay! We always order soondubu and the flavor was just as rich as before :) I was a bit sad that it was not as hot (temperature) wise. The spiciness was on point. It is such a comforting dish that always makes be feel warm and fuzzy The spicy squid is another favorite. My mom loves this dish and we grew up ordering it at other Korean restaurants. Gogi's is always good. The SAUCE....my goodness is just awesome! We never let that go to waste! But it does look like the portion size shrunk a little and price went up. However we are happy to support local and small businesses, so we do not mind. I am sure many businesses are trying to balance finding a way to recover without increasing prices too much. Plus I'm sure sourcing ingredients is challenge and costs more for them now. Kimbap is basically a Korean rice roll haha and always good :) we generally do not get this but we haven't had Korean food in over a year, so we splurged We don't eat that much so have plenty of leftover of the soondubu and spicy squid to eat with rice for a few days. Incredible Korean food! We've eaten here several times and the food & service are always top notch.

They are definitely taking COVID precautions here. Dine in is reservations only and they're only seating about 4 tables at one time. I think I have officially found my go to spot for Korean food in NOLA after searching for so long. First of all, the banchan is amazing here, especially the potato salad. Thank goodness they're unlimited portions. We had thirds. For apps we had the topoki with cheese and seafood pancake and for entrees we had the bibimbap with beef and tofu soup. I've been craving Korean food lately, specifically Korean fried chicken! So I look on doordash and ordered the kfc, bibimbap, tteokbokki, and a cheese corn this past Sunday 01/30. The food was delivered within an hour, lukewarm/coldish but that's not the restaurant's fault necessarily. ANYWAYS, uh the food was bad. It wasn't anything like what other yelpers had described? Maybe it's better dine in? I thought it was bland and did not remind me of any sort of Korean flavors that I had previously in other cities. Also they didn't have the kfc :( The one thing I found so upsetting was the prices!! Like the cheese corn was a smaller take out container, filled less than 1/2 the way and it was $6. I was joking with my partner that each bite he took was like 75 cents since in total it was a teeny amount of corn. The bibimbap was $18 and very sparse in meat... The other items were not memorable. I seen this place a few times driving around Metairie. The sign is big and calls for attention, so I finally decided to try since I love Asian food so much and haven't had Korean food since I lived back in California. The place is pretty authentic and I was not expecting that, even though it gives out like fast food setting vibes. I like the art on the wall. The service was decently quick. I like their appetizer king mandu dumpling and the chicken wings. What I did not like was the Korean dumplings as they were very mushy on the inside. The Glass Noodles were not good either they were over cooked and took away from the experience. The Spicy Pork Bulgogi was not spicy at all and was not that great of a quality pork meat. Gogi has become my favorite Korean restaurant anywhere. I almost always stop by when I go to the Greater New Orleans area to get my fix of fine Korean dishes. The interior is clean and contemporary, and K-Pop videos are always playing on the big screen TVs. I think the latter is one of my favorite parts of the ambiance. The new menu comes with pictures in addition to descriptions, which is really helpful to those unfamiliar with Korean cuisine. It should be noted that when one orders a meal, one gets a number of small plates of tasty appetizers in advance of the main course. These include their wonderful kimchee, and usually hot pickles, marinated daikon radishes, tofu, etc. These are one of my favorite parts of any meal! What does one order though? This is still an area I'm exploring! The easiest and most approachable dishes is the Bibimbap. This is essentially rice and toppings served in a extremely hot stoneware bowl, so that it sizzles when it comes to your table. The various toppings can be customized or you can order a classic combination of flavors. This is a great meal by itself. Katsu is another favorite. This is a breaded and fried pork or chicken cutlet, which is then sliced into strips and served with rice and sauce on the side. Very approachable for the timid eater! Then there are the Bulgogis, these are traditional Korean BBQ meats. Very tender and flavorful! The Korean-style BBQ ribs are also great, cut very differently from western ribs. Gogi is very easy to find, and just a short distance from I-10. There is ample parking to the rear of the restaurant, so just enter the drive and go behind the building. Service is always quick and friendly, and they are glad to explain menu choices to the uninitiated. So go give Gogi a try, and enjoy some Korean cuisine! read more

After, he took our order and brought out all of the banchan. We ordered the cheese corn without onions, kim chi pancake, steamed egg, spicy chicken, & LA Galbi. Banchan - very good. I wish the cucumber and Napa kim chi were spicier. Cheese corn was good for what it is - 4/5 Kim Chi Pancake - the one thing I actually loved. It was perfectly crispy and the sauce paired well 5/5 Steamed egg - decent, but I've had better 3/5 Spicy chicken - this was good although it's not really my thang. 4/5 ***LA Galbi - this is what disappointed me the most. Galbi is the main attraction when I eat Korean food. It's served already cooked and cut up. It lacked flavor and didn't have that special Korean marinade flavor like other Korean restaurants. Yet when you eat there they give u a slightly bigger portion but its the SAME price as the to go? Don't get that. The food is great don't get me wrong. I always get the spicy pork bulgogi and lately the meat doesn't taste as flavorful as it used to. I don't like eating here bc the cashier is just not friendly at all and I prefer not to be around her. I think she's the owner not too sure. Today I had a sweet corn mash potatoes, fried fish cakes, pickled dikons, Kim chi, pickled zucchini and pickled bean sprout! My fav is always the fried fish cakes! It's sooo good to eat with rice alone that I bought some Togo. Although the container says 16oz...it's not filled up to be 16 oz but rather 7oz worth of fish cakes. In Houston, I usually by this by the weight. On to my dishes that I have tried: Seafood pancake: super hot! Comes out freshly made with a dipping sauce! Crunchy and soft at the same time! Getting in the parking lot off Vets is tight. I would appreciate paper menus or if they are using laminated menu, they need to be replaced or cleaned better. The atmosphere was nice at 4:30. Came for the seafood pancakes and ate my weight in sizzling meats... so not a bad night. I was recommended Gogi by a coworker and I am a sucker for Korean, so it was worth a trip to Metairie. The atmosphere is simple and clean, with photo menus and k-pop playing in the background. We ordered the seafood pancake, their steamed dumplings, and the kimchi dumplings to start. The food took a few minutes to arrive, which made me feel like they were making everything fresh--always a good sign. In the meantime we enjoyed the small plates of veggies, including kimchi, pickled jalapeño, bean sprouts, radish,onion, and zucchini, spicy bean curd, broccoli and peppers, and some sort of mashed potato. The fish pancake was screaming hot and crispy. It tasted much better after it cooled a bit. The seafood was a tad chewy and the pancake was less full of the flavors of the sea than I wanted but was still mighty tasty with the provided dipping sauce. The steamed buns were exactly what you crave in a steamed bun- soft and pillowy on the outside with a sweet and tangy stuffing. My favorite was the crunchy kimchi dumplings though- they had a touch of spice and they were oh so crispy. For mains my friend ordered the marinated chicken and a soju, whereas I opted for the bulgogi. Unfortunately the bulgogi was a tad sweet for me and I actually preferred her chicken. This place was likely a Subway or something in its past life. It has that line around the eating area where people used to line up to place their orders but now it's a sitdown. Given this first appearance I was not expecting much, but they definitely live up to their name of Gogi meaning meat. I got the spicy pork and it came with so much meat I couldn't eat it all in one sitting. The kimchi pajeon was also perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. Before they brought anything out, they brought a little plate of banchan with two types of kimchi and I think bean sprouts. When they brought the food out they forgot to bring out the real banchan and I did have to ask for it but they brought out a good spread. My fiancé and I stopped by weeks ago for the first time. Since then, we have ordered a few times. Each time, I have ordered the Kimchi Jjigae. It has been consistently flavorful and tasty. If you haven't had it before, it's not for the faint of heart; it is quite spicy, and does have some ingredients where the textures could be "weird" to some. (I personally love "weird" textures; my fiancé doesn't see it the same way. This has rice cakes and tofu, as well as kimchi and some pork.) My fiancé has settled on the ramen, adding an egg and cheese. I've never found ramen to be that exciting, and invariably leave disappointed -- except for Gogi's ramen. It is absolutely delicious. I'm a fan of the kimchi options they give. We have also enjoyed the kimchi fries (soooo tasty!) and their mandu. This place isn't the very very best Korean I've ever had, but it is damn good, and I find myself happy to have a place that's at least this good nearby. This is the first Korean restaurant we've tried since moving to LA. The restaurant is clean, casual and on the smaller side but people find their way and it fills up fast so go early if you don't want to wait. The staff is very nice, they efficient and do a great job overall. The prices are average $15-20, My only negative is the portions. Some portions are just enough and not over sized, but for $20 there are maybe 5 to 6 short ribs cut into smaller pieces. The flavors are amazing, everything tastes great, you also get the typical Korean pickled veggies, they only give you small bite size amounts, would be great if they gave a little more for bigger parties. The kimchi is really good, we also tried the glass noodles and spicy squid, so good! Definitely on our radar whenever we want Korean food and have been here 3 times so far! read more

The decor all throughout the restaurant is so cute! They have a gorgeous mural and soju bottles lining the windows. Gogi was an okay experience but nothing mind blowing, a mediocre first dive into Korean food. The parking is less than ideal, but once I got in, I was seated right away. The waitress wasn't too sociable at all, only talked when I asked questions and when she had to ask the questions of the job. She never smiled and looked like she didn't want to be there. The complimentary starters were okay, not really my thing but had some flavor. I ordered a kimbap with beef starter and a bibimbap with pork entree. The starter came out on the tray with the entree which was to my surprise. The kimbap was stuffed and rolled tight, it never fell apart. Add a little hot sauce and it was wonderful! The bibimbap however was fairly bland. Salt really enhances all other seasonings and flavors and I think the major lack of salt was the culprit for the bland dish. Even after adding the hot sauce I just was not enjoying it like I anticipated it to be. Watching other people's dishes come from the kitchen, I can tell they do a great job with presentation and it seemed like everyone else was enjoying the other dishes on the menu. Not too many Korean food places in the greater NOLA area, so I'm glad I found this spot to satisfy my cravings. Korean Fried Chicken - I had Garlic Soy flavor. Spicy Korean flavor was the other option.. not sure if you can mix and match but you can ask! The wings at the bottom of the bowl drenched in the soy sauce were way too salty however. I think it would have been much better served dry on a plate because the wings I had on top (not drenched) were super crispy and yummy. Portion was fair, 12 wings for $15 with rice and the typical sides you get at a Korean restaurant (kimchi, the mashed potato with veggies in it -- my favorite), and other pickled veggies. The sides are refillable (yay!) but are wayyy too salty. Must eat with rice/japchae/steamed egg or consume large amounts of water with it. Their meat platters (short rib one was good) are great for sharing! Prices seem a little high, but fair considering how large and shareable the portions were. I usually get one meat plate and one tofu soup to share with a friend. Appetizers are not the best, but do satisfy cravings! The steamed egg was literally just that -- usually it's in a flavored chicken broth or something like that when I get it at other places, but this goes pretty well with the strong flavor of the sides. Japchae was not well presented and the noodles were undercooked ... they were so chewy and hard to eat. Would not recommend this unless you request your noodles boiled a little longer or something. Service was super friendly though and the restaurant itself is very nice, modern, and spacious inside. Not too crowded during prime dinner time the two times I have been,so no wait, which is a big plus! Parking is in the back of the restaurant but a little limited. read more
