I wanted something filling and warm and delicious in soup base so I decided to give this place a try. Upon arrival I saw the place was cozy and the lady taking orders welcomed me to sit wherever I'd like if dinning in. The place seems perfect for a cute casual date or for a solo meal and I noticed, throughout my entire dinning experience, that they have a very steady stream of customers. I ordered the Chicken egg rolls and the Udon Ramen Chicken Katsu. WOW! The flavors were so vibrant and delicious! Every bite felt perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. The broth was so rich and flavorful and just perfect, not too salty and not too little. The noodles had such an amazing texture and bite that I just wanted more! I loved every single bite until the last one and the flavor never fell flat! I am definitely adding this to my places to have lunch when in town! Starving at work I had a craving for some Ramen. I'm in Kenner so I found Hangout and decided to give it a try. They seem to be the only ramen spot in the Kenner area that I could see. Upon entry it seems as though this may have previously been an old diner. I was immediately greeted and told to sit wherever I'd like. I was given a lunch menu, a pencil, and paper with all options to build your own Ramen. I decided to build mine. Fresh ramen noodles, spicy ichimi broth, kikurage, grilled chicken, corn, egg, and shrimp dumplings was my combo choice for today. Excited to taste as my waitress quickly brought my food out I realized that my egg and dumplings were missing. No biggie, she quickly brought these out to me to correct the mistake. Only, my egg was a little cold and I realized the shrimp dumplings were nothing more than a shrimp wrapped in a dumpling wrapper. Besides those two little things I truly enjoyed my ramen. The flavor of the broth was delicious and had the perfect amount of spice. Every ingredient came together so nicely! The ambiance is that of a cafe converted to a ramen house. The service was excellent and the server informed us of the Javanese Rice. (I was like p and v are in different areas-they must mean Java like Irian Jaya). So they have all of this cooking experience that comes from Southeast Asia (including Thai/Indonesian options). The build your own ramen was fun but be careful how much you put in your ramen because everything is individually priced so it adds up! The Udon was delicious and there was so much meat. The service was so great. The people working there are genuinely so nice. They will make sure you get exactly what you want. The food was good too. Did it WOW my socks off? No but it was yummy, filling, and good portions for the price. Unfortunately, there is a negative. The restaurant has a strong odor that is... unpleasant. I think this might have been why there weren't many people there in a Friday night. I hope they are working on trying to fix it because I'd love to come back and give it another shot. Gave Hangout Ramen another try once it relocated in Kenner and I was impressed at the the ramen. When I first tried the ramen at their old location, it didn't taste all that great. The spicy ichimi broth is my favorite go to order. The inside is a little small and doesn't look like much but I would definitely come here often when I have the crave for ramen. The staff and service is friendly and pretty quick. One of my fav appetizers is the takoyaki. It is very light and crispy. The amount of sauce they add on top seem to vary and not consistent. The first time I had it, it was very delicious. The second visit I came, the takoyaki itself was delicious and crispy but lacked a little on the sauce/toppings. Would recommend coming here if you live in the Kenner area and don't want to travel far for ramen. read more

I was so excited to try this place out. Upon walking in, I noticed that it was small and clean enough. I didn't use the restrooms so I can't speak about that. I ordered veggie eggrolls and pineapple fried rice with tofu. The egg rolls were delicious. They were fried perfectly with the right amount of filling. The pineapple rice was good. Some of the rice was a tad crunchy but still tasty. I truly enjoyed the tofu that came with the rice. Unfortunately, they lost a star because there were chunks of chicken in my rice. I don't eat chicken at all, so this was disappointing. The server quickly got the rice and comped it from the meal. She and the cook were apologetic. I just had a delicious lunch at Hangout Ramen. So as crazy as it seems, the only ramen I've ever had has come from a plastic bag and costs around 25 cents. Well, as you can imagine, this was a treat. I was warmly welcomed when I arrived and was given menus right away. I ordered a hot green tea and Tonkotsu Ramen, which was described on the menu as creamy pork broth and pork belly. Well, as it turns out it's much more than that. All of the ramen bowls come with corn, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, fish cakes, egg, green onion and seaweed sheets. Y'all, this stuff is good. Like solid good. I loved it and am looking forward to a return trip. The pork belly was so tender that it was literally falling apart. The broth was very flavorful and this was really a hearty dish. I have a feeling that when I return I'll order the same dish because 1. that's who I am, and 2. it was that good. The service was wonderful too. read more

Third times the charm for this Japanese inspired restaurant location. One thing that been consistent though, is quality Ramen. I started off rocky, like Masterpiece before them, answering the phone is hit or miss. I called 4 times and had tried on other days with no answer so I just showed up to order in person. They offer Uber Eats and Waiter orders but for a fee. Despite the disappointment of having to sit and wait for take out, they were fast and efficient with service. The phone rang often, the dining room was full and online orders were constant, so I can see why you won't always get an answer. It only took about 10min for my Spicy Bang Bang Ramen to be ready. One bite at home and all was forgiven. It's the perfect level of spice for me, enough to feel it but still enjoy all the flavors of their creamy rich Pork broth. There was a larger amount of pork belly than usual, the noodles were fresh, had great pull, and the egg was perfection! Even the corn that is included (extra at other spots) was an on point sweet and crisp addition to the dish. I've heard great things about their sushi and saw a few Other ramens I'd like to try but it's going to be hard not to revisit the spicy bang bang over and over (even if I have to wait at the counter ). Absolutely perfect!! I took an order from here and the packaging was fresh and perfect!! They left the ingredients in a bowl and the broth in a container which prevented the ramen to be soggy!! The food I ordered was the Tonkatsu ramen (definitely a recommendation). The ingredients are good in there as well! I remeber before I went here for the first time before going to the movies, tried their crab ragoons and fried rice, IT WAS THE BEST!! I was a little hesitant to check this place out since it only had 1 review thus far, but glad we didn't let that deter us. We had been somewhere else and the menu only had 1 option that even looked good, so it was great when we got here and I immediately saw 4-5 things I was excited about. We landed on the tuna and avocado roll, spicy kimchi udon, and teriyaki hot plate. I really appreciate that the roll was only $7.50 and the slices were not so large I felt like I needed to cut them, which isn't really possible with chop sticks. My udon was good although not spicy at all. The bf liked the teriyaki plate but just be aware that the meat is not cooked in the sauce so it may not be as strong of a flavor. There aren't many ramen spots in New Orleans to pick from so Hangout Ramen stands out pretty distinctively. They definitely have some strong flavors in their broths, from the tonkots/miso to some of their uniquely flavored ones. I ended up getting their Hangout Ichimi ramen, which isn't authentic, but had a lot of ingredients I wanted. Went for lunch. Was empty. Mardi Gras music playing at a tolerable level. Drinks were in a bottle which was great since they didn't have any straws. Server made good suggestion to have the moderate level spice to the side. Peppers were a good spice level. The ramen serving was the perfect portion for the price. This review is based on a delivery, but the food was super yummy! So good in fact, that I ordered from this twice in one weekend, lol. Upon arrival the food was packaged perfectly and was still nice and hot upon arrival. I ordered a bubble tea and ramen. The broth and noodles/fixings were packaged separately and the noodles came in a microwaveable, reusable bowl which was nice because you didn't need to dirty any dishes. They also had napkins and utensils. The broth was still hot enough that I didn't need to reheat it, just pour it in and enjoy. I got the Tokyo Tonkotsu Black ramen and it came with pork belly, pork gyoza, bean sprouts, an egg, and fish cake. It was quite scrumptious. I did get come chili oil on the side for a little heat and it was just the right amount of spice. I washed it down with a brown sugar boba tea and I was in heaven. A few days later I had some friends over and we ordered some app and they were just as good. Even though they were all fried they held up well in the delivery process and were still crunchy and didn't need to be reheated. We had the pork gyoza, bang bang snow crab and shrimp egg rolls, and crawfish cheese wontons. Perfect options for light snacks while enjoying a movie. My vegetarian friend got the veggie ramen with tofu and she said that she really enjoyed her meal as well. From other referrals I've heard this place is usually packed. First time here so I ordered a couple items off the menu. Everything we ate was better than the dish before. Upon walking in we were greeted by staff. We were seated very quickly and even the chef came to our table to speak to us. He was very kind and we talked about his other locations that we def will be trying after this experience. He answered all of our questions and was very accommodating to our dietary needs (can't eat pork but they have vegetable and beef options as substitute) The food came out fast and all the flavors worked really well together. We ordered the garlic edamame and it was delish. The ramen was probably the best ramen I ever had. It was topped with this crispy shrimp that was seasoned perfectly. Not pictured was the kimchi fried rice... IT WAS THE BEST THING THERE!!!! All 3 of my guest rated this dish a 12/10! If you order it is a item that should be shared (the staff made sure to tell us this before we ordered) big portions! Overall great experience! Highly recommend to locals and guests who want to try this cuisine while visiting. My family and I were visiting from out of town and headed to the zoo when we saw this place. We love ramen and sushi so it was decided early that's where we'd have dinner. We got there at 4pm. Not very busy and the waitress (owner maybe?) was attentive and kind. We got several different rolls to try and a few appetizers. I couldn't tell you what they all were but they were very good. They special made a roll of just cream cheese and crab for my 7 year old. We really appreciated that - she loves sushi rolls but not the green stuff (avo and celery haha) My oldest daughter and I both got ramen. It was so good! The best pork belly I've ever had. Just melt in your mouth! She got the black ramen and I got the hangout ramen. If I'm being honest it will be a week tomorrow and we are still talking about it. I'm still hungry but regardless of my hunger, I'm not eating anything that bland and flavorless. Ugh! The egg was not seasoned at all and one half of it was still cold. They must have just pulled it from the cooler and plopped it in my ramen without bothering to season it. There were two small pieces of green onion. Good ramen is hard to come by in this city. There just simply isn't enough great selection. I was pretty impressed by the overall complex flavors of my broth and extremely impressed by the pork chashu inside the ramen and our pork bao. We were seated immediately and was offered free sake. I passed on the free sake but changed my mind. The free sake is not something to write home about, it's flavors are not the best but it's free so no complaints. If you like sake you might look for a mouthfeel that is subtly sweet and nutty from the grains, but the sake itself is mostly a quick hit of alcohol with subtle rice aromatics. But once again it was free and the sentiments were nice. We started off with three appetizers: Crawfish gyozas: these were okay, we weren't enthusiastic about it. It's served with sweet chili sauce, very likely Maeploy brand. Agedashi Tofu: these were less than okay. For a couple blocks of tofu the rice-flour coated tofu were very plain on its own (understandably) but the dashi-soy sauce was also very plain. Overall plain and bland was the takeaway of this dish. Pork Chashu Bun: it's in a crescent style bun and the pork chashu was perfect! Delicious! Just salty enough and just sweet enough it literally melted in our mouths. The cook on the pork belly was extremely well executed. I was impressed! I ordered two more orders to go for my family! Bang Bang Ramen: my partner got this ramen and I tasted the broth. Can't really remember the flavors well but I enjoyed it and that was what matters. Hangout Ichimi Ramen: I got it at explode. As a spicy food connoisseur I looooove spicy food. The explode was not an intense spice but it was really well done. I'm not sure if they make their own chili-garlic spices but it reminded me of schezuan spice like LaoGanMa. The pork inside the ramen was the same pork from the bao so naturally it was really tender and yummy. The soft boiled eggs were seasoned well, the noodles were good, and the broth was delicious. I made the mistake of not checking the listing before heading inside,I just saw the open sign in the window. Turns out, I showed up just as they were closing for their lunch time. Thankfully, the server was so sweet,she said if we could order, she'd catch the kitchen before they closed down for their afternoon break. We made quick work of a simple late lunch, and it was absolutely delicious! It was one of those hangover feeling type of days, so nothing crazy was required, but they have all kinds of ramen, sushi, teriyaki, fried rice.... All the yumminess!
