I have been to Crazy Hot Pot a handful of times and it is consistently great. The bar has a great selection of seafood, meats, vegetables and sauce options. They also have crawfish, crab legs, shrimp and fried rice. All delicious, but they don't replenish the crab legs often enough. From the apps we really like the asparagus, dumplings, and the meats (especially the short ribs and pork belly). I always look forward to these meals! read more

Oh crazy hotpot, how I love this place. I got hooked on the hotpot concept in another state and have been waiting on a good concept back home. After some TikTok reviews this one popped up and it was the best suggestion. For one dinner or lunch price, you get access to broth of your choice a menu full of Korean bbq, apps, and a bar of meat/noodles/seafood. Return to the table with your choices off the bar and dump them in the broth. They even have cooked seafood like snow crab and crawfish. A little nice robot will bring an bbq and apps to your table. You will leave here overeating so be prepared. I knocked off a star bc we got the spiciest broth available but the ventilation is not good in the restaurant. We ended up almost choking ourselves and the neighboring tables out at the end of our dining experience. The waitress advised that was normal. I always enjoy coming here and it's always very tasty! I like to get the Tom Yum broth. I get my spice level on the side because I like to add to taste. The vegetables are always so fresh here and I love the many options to choose from (get the bok choy!!). I will say that I don't like the mussels or crab legs here they don't tend to be very fresh but everything else I get is always good quality. The only other thing I didn't really enjoy was the fried calamari. I thought it was cut too thick, but that could just be a personal preference. The staff also does a great job at keeping the buffet stocked and clean. Always friendly and helpful service. Aside from the food, they have a tablet at the front entrance that you can join the waitlist for and I've noticed this last time that it's powered by Yelp! You can join on the Yelp app ahead of time and see what your wait time would be. It is very accurate. Me and my friend went and sat in the car until our table was ready. We arrived and we were number three in line and it took less than 20 minutes. They do have an upstairs and it's no different than downstairs so if they ask you if upstairs is OK just go ahead. The only difference is there's no robots upstairs. And by robots I mean the little robots that bring you food on a platter. This is the food that you order and don't get at the buffet-- fried calamari, spring rolls, cooked meat, etc. Definitely, recommend checking this out. It can be intimidating at first, but the staff is very helpful and will answer any questions you have. They also serve cold sake - no hot. Three different choices though and all of them are good. Really great deal and bang for your buck. My friend and I came for lunch. Lots of choices from broth, noodles, veggies, and seafood this place is awesome!! Seriously, clams, mussels, shrimp, blue crabs, frog legs, squid - so many options!! We were very impressed. Casual vibe, lots of tables and booths and even some private rooms. The host, who I think must be a manager or owner was very friendly and explained the menu to us. The meat quality was ok. Liked the sauce bar a lot. I love that they have lots of fresh garlic, cilantro and sesame sauce. I wish they would have refilled out waters more than once. The gentleman at the table next to us had their server check on them multiple times but we were only checked on once because I asked at the front for water when I got up to use the restroom. Just had a nice dinner at Crazy Hot Pot( I think this was my 4 time but first time since they added the bbq option) our waitress, Jenny did a great job. The place was busy enough that we were seated upstairs which by the way who knew there was even an upstairs, which was comfortable and quiet. The manager Alan, was also very nice and great at explaining different options on the cold bar. Look forward to seeing both of them again. I recommend the Thai curry broth. Wonderful place to get hot pot, barbecue, seafood, and other Asian foods in the Metairie location. There was an overwhelmingly amount of food that you could order, which is great for the price that you have to pay. I went here with my coworkers for lunch and we enjoyed ourselves. It was all of our first times and our server explained how everything works. The buffet area was very clean and plentiful. The food was very fresh as well. I loved the sauce area and being able to create my own concoction. I had the Cajun broth and I'm glad I got it! We really enjoyed our time there. I docked them a star because our waiter was kind lf inattentive. We spilled a drink and had to clean it ourselves because he was no where to be found! Other than that, we had a great time. The food was delicious. I will say some lf the BBQ was seasoned heavily with what tasted like cumin, so kf you're sensitive to it, you may want to ask how it's seaslned before ordering. A pro tip is start slow. Only fix what you can eat in one portion, then go back for more. The chargrilled oysters were free for us because we had a table of 4 but normally there is a charge, and you can only get one order. They have a really good selection of all hotpot items. My favorite is the watercress that's not commonly seen in most places! And their appetizer options are nice from both the menu (included in the AYCE) and some on the buffet area. Their dessert options is also really nice with ice cream, cheese cake, fruits, and pudding. So I've eaten here twice so far and both times were pretty good in terms of hotpot broth and the items available at the buffet to cook. I would say I enjoy the tom yum broth more than the curry overall, but it's also best to tailor your broth with extra seasonings from the buffet bar. They have a wide variety of seafood and veggies to choose from at the buffet, as well as 4 different cuts of meat in the freezer. My main complaint is some people not being mindful and tend to cross contaminate tongs with other items and even leaving tongs in different areas instead of leaving it in its respected area. Also unsupervised minors grabbing things and messing with items at the bar like the desserts. The restaurant can get pretty hectic during rush hour and the robots rolling around to serve items. Overall, I can say this is one of the better hot pot places for me in the metro area which is good for what it is. read more

This restaurant has a very unique format, and is a little overwhelming. It is a one price buffet, and the buffet consist of three waves. First, order from an appetizer menu. Each order is approximately two pieces, and you can order as many appetizers as you want (and as often as you want). Next, you can order from a BBQ menu. Again, you can order as many items as you want initially, but you can only order a second round from this list. The third wave is the hot pot, where each diner has their individual bowl. You get to choose from several different broths. Your bowl is where you cook and enjoy ingredients from a long buffet bar and freezer. The ingredients include fresh vegetables, frozen dumplings, seafood, and frozen meats. Confused? We dined with some family members who have been here before. I would have been confused and really intimated by the whole process without their guidance. We had a large group that was able to try most of the items on the appetizer and BBQ menus. My favorites appetizers were the kimchi, fried chicken wings, and dumplings. The BBQ items are served on skewers, and gillled. I really preferred these over the appetizers. I really enjoyed the beef bulgogi, spicy beef bulgogi, spicy chicken, and mushroom. I ordered the beef broth. The hot pot ingredients bar is amazing as it has everything you could image. There are fresh vegetables, noodles, dumplings, and tons of fresh seafood. The adjacent meat freezer contains thin rolls of beef, pork, and chicken that are frozen. Cooking the various items are a little challenging because everything cooks as different speeds. Honestly, ensuring all the raw meats are thoroughly, and not cross-contaminating cooked with raw items made me nervous about this hot pot format. In conclusion, dining here takes a while and is a lot of effort. But it is a fun experience with lots of food. read more

I had heard lots of interesting things about this spot so I resolved to schedule a visit. The robot waiters had been quite a talking point but I found them underwhelming as they were more a delivery machine than a waiter. A real weak point was the lack of a good drink selection with no unsweetened iced tea or hot tea. It was a generally interesting experience but overall I enjoy Korean BBQ a lot more. I would enjoy a bowl of Pho or Thai food a LOT more and at a much cheaper price. Overall it was entertaining for one visit but I wouldn't feel the need to return as it just didn't seem like a good value. So we visited this place based off an Instagram post. We walked in, were quickly greeted and escorted to our table. The waitress was a bit difficult to understand and I don't think she understood my questions but she explained what we needed to do. I AM NOT a fan of buffets but this is a unique experience so I wanted to give it a shot. We selected our broth type, ordered appetizers and proceeded to build our bowls. My boyfriend stayed back as he realized the robot might bring the food and nobody would be there to retrieve it off the tray. (Something I think the waitress should have shared since we saw many tables where the robot was there but the customer(s) were up getting food. Once I selected my food and made it back to the table, he proceeded to get his. They had many options of seafood and meats and vegetables alike. There was also a lot of condiment and sauce options. The condiment station was messy though. I wasn't sure if the robots were there to enhance the experience or help keep cost down on waitstaff. Our waitress wasn't very attentive, in fact we were seated close to the door and saw many of them congregating around the hostess stand. As someone who comes from restaurant and operations management, seems to me that it would have been a great added service to have someone posted at each station (sauce/condiments and meat/vegetables) greeting and guiding guest while keeping it clean and tidy. It also would have been great for the menu to display steps. We quickly noticed that the food was cooking faster than we could eat it so the noodles were soggy and overcooked which gave an appearance of food waste. When they replenished the broth, it wasn't the same broth we initially received. In fact it was broth poured out a kettle that resembles dirty dishwater. I found that the broth was flavorless so I used the sauces to spruce it up. While the broth wasn't full the temperature setting was turned up high and boiling fast.i could only guess how to turn it down as the settings were writing in Chinese. Since the waitress wasn't attentive, it was hard to get her attention to ask her how to turn it down. It was overflowing out of the pot and popping out which could have been a serious burn injury. One of the pots was leaking from the bottom onto my boyfriend's fresh kicks. The music selection was modern and upbeat, however it was explicit in language. For a family oriented establishment I would have expected cleaner music. I'm not sure if I'd come back but it was definitely an interesting experience. read more

Quantity over quality is what comes to mind when rating the food for this all-you-can-eat hotpot buffet. The waiters and waitresses are very attentive and super friendly (shout out to Chris!). For New Orleans, this hot pot place exceeds expectations. I have to qualify with "for New Orleans" because I would rate Crazy Hot Pot maybe a 3.7 if it were any other big city. NOLA does not have many "authentic" Chinese restaurant options. Moving from Seattle, and being Chinese myself, my snobbish standards for hotpot are high. One standout about Crazy Hotpot were the broth selections. There's a Cajun broth option! I liked it, but I think I'll stick to pork next time. Or maybe I'll order the Tom yum broth. But, for $30 AYCE, I was happy. Lots of appetizers were ordered for our table (crab ragoons, edamame, chicken wings, fried squid, sesame balls, etc). Plenty of seafood, vegetarian, and meat selections. I went too hard on the seafood with the blue crab, clams, and shrimp. The meat selection, there was slices of lamb, beef, and pork left to your disposal and AYCE delight. TBH I didn't take a good look at the vegetarian options, but I saw Napa cabbage, tofu, fried bean curd rolls, and lettuce. However, I was wary of the quality of the seafood. I didn't get sick, but I woke up the next morning with an upset stomach. Meat and vegetables were good quality though. I suggest that the seafood be stocked in the fridge rather than left out in the open, and have the waiters bring out the seafood upon request. We went later in the evening close to close. We never felt rushed and made sure to let us know that the last call for the kitchen was at 930 so that we could order accordingly. Love the interior and the layout they have now. Food is well labeled so that you can build your hot pot plate. They had a wide variety of BBQ items and appetizers so that all palettes had something to try. I can appreciate that they bring smaller servings but allow you the option to request multiple orders at a time. For example, their chicken wings come in an order of 2 so if you have 3 people at the table, you'll need at least an order of 2.
