Went with some friends to celebrate my birthday. Service was impeccable as well as very intense Covid screening requirements. I reserved a table for 6 an hour before and when it came time for our reservation the table was already set up with the side dishes and utensils. Absolutely amazing!! Ordered the Combo #3 and an additional Bulgogi for 6 people and we could barely finish just the protein and sides, much less the extra corn, soup, and egg. So much food from just the combo #3 was probably any enough to feed six people. The pricing was amazing for the amazing quality and quantity. During these COVID times, eating out makes me really nervous but seeing the protocols and procedures that this restaurant has implemented has made me feel more comfortable so thank you to the management team for doing that, it truly shows that you care about the safety of your customers is a priority and that means a lot to me. The plastic shields that the restaurant has put up between each seating booth is sooo well done, really great job, wished more establishments put forth this much effort. The cut and choices of meat is absolutely wonderful. We were a group of six so we had a huge variety of different types of meat. Sooo tender and perfectly seasoned that you really do not need to add anything else to it. But you have choices if you do and that's great. The server cooked and cut and placed it on our plates individually which is also really great. I truly believe that you get for what you pay for. They didn't have several the soju flavors that we really wanted for the evening but that's ok they had other choices so that is fine as well. It's nice that the place isn't too loud. The food was to die for!!! Their menu had so much more variety than most korean bbq places such as pork belly kimbap and nangmyun! I love that they have outdoor seating when the weather is nice out and it isn't too crazy unlike other places. There was something about this place that just wasn't doing it for me. Our mistake for being in Centreville on a Saturday night and wanting Korean BBQ without a reservation. The fact this place had no wait should've been our first sign. For starters, I've never seen teriyaki sauce at a Korean restaurant. What is that??? Thankfully they had the sesame oil and salt, but where are the other sauces, and why did I have to specially request for my samjang? Next, the kimchi was not flavorful. And finally, the meat - the samgyupsal felt more fatty and thick than what I'm used to, and the flavor of all our meats was just off. I don't like going to a Korean BBQ and feeling like I'm not getting good quality meat. :/ There were a few tables of loud and drunk Korean men around us, so maybe that's (alcohol) what takes to enjoy this place. Wanted to try a new Korean BBQ place and found this place on Yelp. Already been to So, Honey Pig, Iron Age in the Centreville area. We called for a Saturday night reservation that morning and got in for 6pm for 5. We waited for few minutes for them to set up our table with various panchan( Korean side dishes). We sat down and immediately dove into the two salads, two types of picked daikons, potato salad, Kimchee. Our server greeted us right way with a covered jug of ice water and cups. Restaurant is a spacious clean feel. Not loud like some other Korean bbq places. Really appreciate the powerful suction in the middle of table so not smokey everywhere. This is not an AYCE place so you have to order the combos of different meat pairings. No problem, we ordered 2 combos #1 and #2( enough to feed 6). Immediately the meats started to arrive and our server was quick to tend to us and cook for us. Rice bowl for each of us arrived along with 2 steamed egg and 2 tofu soups to share and something different, corn cheese! 2 little skillets of baked corn with mozzarella cheese. It was delicious. We also got 2 seafood pancakes as well. Pancakes were the smaller version mini pizza size, good but I've had better. Meats were abundant, some were better than others but overall good. I had mixed feelings about this place. I came here on Friday for dinner. First, the meat quality is very good. The meat is very fresh and the marinated meats are very savory. The interior and music was very good too! The service was a mix because my server was very friendly and attentive. When I first came in, there was no one at the front greeting customers. Then, a man came (maybe manager, I'm not sure). He wasn't very nice. His face was very unfriendly and unwelcoming, even though it wasn't very busy. I couldn't really hear what he was saying, there was a lack of communication for seating. Other than that, the servers were very nice though. Oh the potential this place has .... possibly could be there be of my favorite local korean bbq places. Food? 5 stars hands down, this place is GOOD. The problem? The service. Now I've had issues with the service at other places and I write my reviews usually based on service more than the food. The fact that some restaurants take pride and turn things around is what gets them 5 stars. Let me explain about the service here.... When entering, you have to obviously wait and get your temperature checked. That's all good, yet when you walk in, it's always nice and almost common sense to feel welcome. The hostess must have been having a BAD day, the attitude given was as if my party and I had caused an inconvenience for coming in. No hi, no welcome, now how are you. It's "do you have a reservation?" With attitude then it's just standing there, then temperature check, then doesn't say a word ; I guess our temperatures were ok so we walked over to our party....um why does it have to be this way? Moments like this I want to be a consultant to restaurants to teach customer service. The food we ordered nuk gan sal, first time I had it and it was LEGIT, highly recommend it. But it also sucks when the flames are on high and the servers disappear and our order is burned. No apology, no exchange, I flip the meat over myself and someone comes and says they will do it. Hmmmm.... Look, I like this place and honestly I will go back but I hope they can fix the friendliness and service as I hope these guys will be in business for a very long time. 5 stars for the food, 1-2 stars for the service. Three of us went for the first time yesterday at about 6:00PM. By the time we left at 7:00PM there was a wait. I can see why. The prices were on the high side, but the food was outstanding. The only reason I'm giving it more than 1 star is because everyone else at my table did enjoy the food enough but I had the worst experience of my life. I understand this place is by no means here for vegetarians but I did call ahead to ask IF there was anything vegetarian and they said YES. Some appetizers and 2 soups. When I arrived I asked the server to tell me again which items were vegetarian. He mentioned tofu soup. I specifically asked if the broth was vegetarian and he said yes. So I ordered that. A small meal, but I was happy to sit there and have that so that my husband (on his birthday) and his friends could enjoy their favorite type of cuisine. I mentioned it smelled fishy and asked my server if that was my soup and he said yes. I began to eat it and about a third of the way in start to find all kinds of shellfish, anchovies, octopus, etc. This was extremely disturbing to me. I brought it to my server's attention. He sort of shrugged and said "oh... they must've switch it". I assume he means someone in the kitchen? No apology. No explanation. He did say he could ask the chef for another one but at that point I was about to vomit so I said no thanks. I was still charged for it. I did not ask this place to make special accommodations for me. I asked if they did offer something I could eat and they assured me multiple times they did but still served me seafood stew. As a restaurant, you CANNOT accidentally serve people seafood. They're lucky I was not allergic. Ps. Everyone at the table agreed Iron Age is better anyway. read more

Okay. So this place is pretty delish. The food was so good. And I really quite prefer the spread of side dishes over IronAge (another nearby KBBQ). BUT. Management should train their staff a little better. So basically, our waiter was cooking the meat at another table and bringing it to us. Which was nice as we were going kind of slow. But then the waiter picked up the hot grill with meat on it (dripping with hot oil through the obvious slits) and then proceeds to carry it over to our table. Hot oil ended up dropping onto my Uncles bare leg and giving him at least a second degree burn (the skin blistered and peeled off). Obviously carrying a hot grill is not safe. I dont like to fault waiters too much bc I know food service is hard. But c'mon dude, that wasnt the smartest move. I'm sure that our waiter would not have done that IF management had clear guidelines on how food can be transported to the tables. So I'm gonna fault management first. Ya'll should have guidelines for waiters. Plain and simple. If our waiter was acting outside already set guidlines then the blame is on him. But until that is clear, management this is your fail and you should work on it. Honestly, becuase my uncle suffered bodily harm. I expected the meal to be free or discounted at the very least. But all management did was give us some ice and some free drinks. Woo hoo. That definitly is proportional to the harm yall caused. *sarcasm* If I could give 0 stars I would honestly. Badly done. We came here on a busy Saturday evening & Service was great. We ordered combo 4. It was delicious as usual but I truly wish there was a AYCE option. (You can still have quality with quantity for the right price imo and ime coming from California) We just always feel like the portions aren't enough and have to add on more meat options so it's unfortunate. The best kbbq around dmv, better than so bbq, better than kogiya and even meojka. Super high quality meat, our server was so professional, never burned anything like the other places. Was craving some BBQ and nengmyun for lunch and decided to drop by. I was pleasantly surprised at how great the food was. All the side dishes were fresh and the meat was very good quality. I did deduct one star because the nengmyun and kimchi jjigae were not very good which was disappointing. The nengmyun was very bland and smelled funky. I ate 2-3 bites and did not want to eat more. The kimchi jjigae seemed to be a little bit overdone and everything inside the stew was soggy/over cooked. The spices in the stew were good though. I was extra impressed that everything was so clean, they check temperatures at the door and they had little plastic curtain things to separate the tables. They've got a couple kinks to work out but out of all the kbbq places around, I think their meat was by far the BEST and will definitely visit again. read more

This is centrville's version of meokja meokja. It's good and very comparable in price and quality-- the plus is that they are much bigger inside and are also open for lunch. Delish! We got the #2 combo and spicy pork, and it was more than enough for my husband, son, and me. My son, who is picky with meat, devoured the pork belly and marinated beef cubes. Included sides with the combo meal are soybean soup, steamed egg, and cheese corn. The soup was salty and the steamed egg was a little bland, but the cheese corn was pretty good. They cook the meat for you at the table, and they have the little exhaust things right above the grill to suck up all the smoke - we left the restaurant without reeking of korean bbq, which is a HUGE plus! The owner (?) stopped by and asked if we had rice cake soup yet, which is traditionally eaten on New Year's Day. I told her we hadn't, and she brought us 2 bowls - so nice and really generous. Overall, better quality meat than you will find at AYCE places, and we were pretty full by the end of the meal. Will definitely return! read more
