Just tried Gold Burger for the first time. Went in on a Sunday afternoon and even though it was pretty busy, we were sat quickly and received excellent service. It's so cute inside! We ordered a few different burgers, the chicken fried steak and a cocktail. Everything was so delicious!!!! The smash burgers are perfect, the gravy on the chicken fried steak is so yummy, and you can tell the food is made from scratch. Can't wait to come back for breakfast!!!! read more

Heather, the waitress, funny, kind, informative. The restaurant is on the new side, still working out kinks and supply issues. Anyone who starts up a business knows that everything isn't perfect at the start. Get the quality of what you have available on the great side, and the rest will fall into place. We arrived on the early side at 5 pm. on a Tuesday for dinner. No wait and plenty of seating. We had 2 smash burgers, they come as doubles, order of fries and a chicken fried steak. Had the pleasure of dining at the Gold Burger Diner this evening. I must say - I am VERY IMPRESSED. It all started with the hostess (outside) - Abby, I believe was her name. Very friendly, very welcoming and had a huge smile on her face the whole time. She took us to our booth and said that we should contact her if we needed anything. That was the atmosphere we experienced for our whole stay. Our server - Aidan - was very good. He had a lot of tables to wait on, but he was on top of everything. We ordered the Chicken Fried Steak. I have had some pretty bad experiences around town (and in Round Rock) with gristly, chewy, over breaded steak. It took me a lot to order it here - but I figured, nothing ventured nothing gained. I am VERY HAPPY with my decision. This was the BEST Chicken Fried Steak I've had in the area. Served with mashed potatoes and white gravy. The portion size was perfect for me. If you are a "big" eater, this may not be enough to fill you up - and maybe that is something that ownership should consider. But - as I said - it was PERFECT for me. They did NOT take advantage of us - the price for drinks (Coke products) was only $2.50. My experience around town is that generally you are charged $4.95 or more for the same thing. They are working on getting their milkshake machines and recipe together - and "should be" within the next month or so. I am hopeful that this place does well. The prices were good, the staff was fantastic, the juke box was playing great tunes, and I'll be back!!1 My only concern is: When school starts up, what happens to the staffing. It "appears" that a large number of the staff tonight are still in school. Would hate to see that become an issue. I am very hopeful that Gold Burger Diner continues to do well. It is refreshing to have this level of food and service at a sit-down place. We plan to go back, try other items on their menu and hopefully enjoy, once again, the experience. It wasn't anything great. I had probably the worse "deli sandwich " ever. The Texas Toast was thin toast. The Turkey was the worst processed turkey. " Flo" was a great server and I guess if you want alcohol with your food and you're in Georgetown. We wanted to love it but a huge disappointment. I'll stick with Jersey Mikes or Jason's deli. My husband had the mushroom burger and was totally disappointed also. He'll stick with Culver's and Culver's has ice cream!!! read more

Place is way under staffed every time I come in here. It's not even worth the hassle or wait. Everytime I come here half the workers standing around and half the workers doing worthless activities and not helping the customer. Poor management. Went to counter to eat, sat there 10 min and no one helped me, not even an acknowledgement. Like the wife and I were invincible. Bunch of chaos with hardly any results. menu was misleading. i ordered hashbrowns, egg, bacon and it said it came with cheese. it came out. as a plate of hashbrowns with a slice of cheese melted on it and bacon crumbled on top of that hidden under a humongous egg. waitress was serving alone. we saw many people working but no one was helping her so service was slow. glasses were empty and we were finished with our plates pushed out in front of us for over 20 minutes before she returned to see if we were ready for our ticket. ambience was nice, i can see the nostalgic vibe they're going for but monument cafe is around the corner and has enough staff for both places so if in a hurry go there instead. also it advertises as a morning, lunch and dinner diner but you can't order a burger or fries before 11??? something else monument does better. we will try again for lunch at r dinner. i really wanted to try a burger, not much of a breakfast person. read more

First time, but not the last. The first thing when you walk in, you see a 1950's cafe-like theme setting that takes your breath away. I was instantly pulled in. Linda and I had the chopped steak with mashed potatoes and green beans. It was a lunch celebration for my birthday, so a Margarita was my choice. Every bite was memorable. I, unashamed, cleaned my plate. The staff from the hostesses to management were welcoming and a pleasure. Our server, Reaya's personality was refreshing. Went on a Saturday before 8am and we were seated right away . Coffee was superb. Breakfast was really good . Only complaint is , the pancakes were a bit rubbery which was a disappointment. They need to work on the batter . My husband had their burger earlier in the week and he said it was fantastic . Service was great as well. Floors are a bit slippery so watch your step . If you want an illness from contamination, please come to this place. The guy cooking burgers was touching RAW MEAT then proceeds to grab COOKED mushrooms and onions to plate the burgers and patty melts. Uses the same gloves to grab the cooked patty melts to cut them on the cutting board and handles the plates. At one point, grabs food (didn't get a good look what it was, maybe mushrooms and puts it in his mouth). The guy doing prep was cutting unwashed raw onions (I was more concerned about the dirty onions being cut on the same cutting board as the cooked patty melts being cut in half.) Anyways, after all of the onions were cut and he was cleaning up, he removed his gloves and proceeded to wipe the onions off the cutting board with UNGLOVED hands. Guess what? Used the same cutting board to cut the cooked patty melts. For being right there in sight of everyone, you should have better food handling practices. read more
