I was not planning on signing up for classes at all, never mind get my real estate license. But everybody I spoke to just told me different things - I received a mixture of advice from : ..."buy property, you're wasting money renting!" to ..."just continue renting, there's so many hidden costs owning a home and the market's going to crash". My mission was to learn something new and feel confident about any future investments. Confused and having no idea who to trust, I went on Yelp and looked up real estate classes. I searched KW DTLA's address and realized it was literally across the street and they offered a free introductory course so I said, why not!? At the time when I joined, my schedule was pretty flexible so it only took me up until our first class break to decide that I wanted to be apart of this program. Mac was my instructor and the course was 3 months long. That wasn't a commitment at all for someone who spent 9 years in university. What did I have to lose? The cost was $450 ish including the 3 textbooks and $50 less without which included a year access to their online portal. In addition to this package, I purchased supplementary courses from Prep Agent and Rico's videos which were not that useful. I read all of the text books and they were god awful dry but the portal has a lot of useful study tools. KW students also have access to self-improvement and educational resources outside of these classes with workshops, motivational guest speakers and networking events where I got to meet some really great people. 4 hours of sitting through a class can get pretty intense but it wasn't too painful because Mac was a truly wonderful instructor! I surprised myself since I was not even remotely interested in selling homes and I signed up right away. There was something about the energy of the people who I met here that kept me coming back. Mac was very knowledgeable, entertaining, personable and was always helpful with any questions we had. He also had very good taste in sneakers! Who knew Real Estate classes could turn out to be this fun that I wished the program never ended?! Unfortunately, an unexpected event occurred with work in early January and I haven't been able to register or study for the exam yet. I look forward to the issues settling down and resuming where I left off to get my license this year, hopefully buy property sometime in the future too. I recently visited a friend who was living in this community for a party, when I first entered the…read morebuilding, I was very impressed by how they designed the corridor; the light was bright and welcoming and made me very welcome. There are many restaurants near this apartment. We were able to order take-out from hundreds of restaurants nearby. Getting the food from the driver on the street was also easy, because it is a small street, so it doesn't have much traffic. The apartment was new, with a great-looking kitchen with LG appliances. On top of that, there is also a barbecue on the rooftop. It's a beautiful way to end your day watching the sunset over Ktown and enjoying a lovely bbq. Last but not least, is because there are, I believe, 50 units, there is a peacefulness here. I live in another apartment, and there were over 300 units. They were nice too, but there was a lot of constant activity/ noise within the building. I am thinking about moving in with Tripalink after my lease end with my old place, and I have seen their social media of a new upcoming apartment, which also look fantastic. No warning- just an email in the middle of the month that they need to be out by the end of the month. I have lived here for a year and six months and the beginning of July they finally sent someone to fix the air conditioning. Less than a month before I move out. The HVAC crew showed up with no warning, no knock and walked in the door. They didn't explain to me that they were there to totally replace the air conditioning, the same air conditioning I haven't used since I moved in and won't be using after it's fixed. I sent the HVAV crew out the door running and they sent a Chinese student tripalink employee I've never met to sweet talk me into letting them do it. NO. Do NOT sign a long term lease with this company or sign at your own risk. I've never had a company so inept at what they specialize in. There isn't even space in the communal fridge for me to put milk and someone moved in and they threw my milk that I had in a separate part of the fridge designated to a room no one has lived in (and no one lives in because THERES NO AIR CONDITIONING). They just took my groceries out the fridge without notifying me or asking me and I'm upstairs all day like it's just so fking weird. The person they threw my groceries out for moved in for a couple months and they had to move him bc of the AC anyways. The professionalism is so mid. They will put you in rooms that are in disrepair- your air conditioning isn't working, or that you have roaches, you have no hot water and huge leaks in the walls and mold. Then when you ask them to come maintain THEIR building they ignore you or gaslight you. I tried to ask them how to coordinate my move out and getting my deposit but no reply yet. Hope I'm not one of the unlucky ones that never sees their deposit again.
