After just having a wedding myself and paying for bridal alterations at another location, I was very pleased with the pricing and turnaround time they offered. Came here to get a bridesmaid dress altered. The dress had some fancy shoulder straps that were a bit too long for me and I knew this needed to be fixed by the professionals. I called in advance but they said I could stop in whenever. Dropped off on a Tuesday & the dress was ready for pickup by Friday morning. $20 for something I definitely wouldn't have been able to do on my own! This place was recommended to me by a friend who got her wedding dress altered here & she had a great experience too! I didn't take any pics but imagine... Before: a dress that doesn't fit correctly After: a dress that fits perfectly! Advice: bring the shoes (or similar) that you plan to wear with the dress or pants you'd like to get altered and KEEP YOUR RECEIPT and bring it back with you when you come for pickup- this will make it easier to find your stuff & documents the price you agreed to pay. read more

I went here to have a bridesmaid dress hemmed and taken in slightly at the waist. She pinned me up and told me it would be $140 total. That was almost double what the dress originally cost me so I told her I did not wish to have my dress tailored there at that cost. She did not try to bargain or bring it down, nor could she justify charging me that much. She said now you need to pay me $20 for the fitting and the pins- I agreed because she wouldn't give me my dress until I did so. Once I gave her my credit card, she started trying to take the pins out and I had to tell her to stop because what did I pay $20 for then?! Ridiculous, will definitely not be returning or recommending this place to anyone else. They just want to scam you. read more

I brought a garment here that needed to be fitted- after surgery girdle. I explained what area needs to be tightened. A woman who speaks no English comes in and quickly pins me. Upon pickup I tried on and brought six others to be worked on. I tried my garment on that was the first drop off and I couldn't get it past my knees. They were unwilling to fix it- and wanted to charge me regardless that it didn't fit. They said at fitting I should have known. I explained that it is hard to know at fitting bc I had it on, advised what was needed and a woman who speaks no English is the one who pinned me. They got mad and wouldn't work on my other garments. I don't understand how it is my fault when I'm not the tailor. Your job is to make it fit. My job is to try it on. Very rude! And talked about me in their language the entire time. read more

I can hardly believe the amazing experience I just had! I chose Gold Needle on a recommendation from a couple people who have had alternations done there. I had a winter coat with a zipper (long!) that had separated from the coat and had teeth that were distorted. Not only was the zipper able to be fixed, the owner did it right on the spot in less than 10 minutes and it cost me $10. Other quotes I had gotten included at least a week and $80+ to fix it. The owner was able to fix versus replace it, which I really appreciate. I'm guessing most places would just strip out the broken zipper and replace it. Such a friendly and talented tailor. I will definitely go back for all my tailoring needs. read more

I have been to the location twice now. Both times for minor tailoring of fixing a hem and shortening a pair of pants. Each time they completed the work instantly and waited approximately 5 minutes each time for the work to be completed. The stitching was professionally done. read more

This shop has pros and cons. If you need a quick hem or minor tailoring, this is a perfect place for that. However there is no consistency to their pricing. They quote you off the top of their head, no price list. You'll be charged one price on Monday, but if you come back for something else Thursday, the price is different. I brought my daughters prom dresses here two years in a row, both times they needed to be redone. And this time, they got dirt all over the front. In their defense, they did clean it, but if you are looking for a tidy, broomswept shop, this is not it. Just depends on what you are looking for. read more

I don't know what kind of game they're playing at the Golden Needle shop. My sister took a dress to be hemmed. They charged her $40 and did not give her a receipt. When she went back a week later, and could not produce a receipt (because they did not give her one) they asked for another $40. When my sister refused, she was told 'well just give me $20!' The only way they returned her dress to her is my sister threatened to call the police. First, my sister is somewhat disabled and walks with a cane/walker. I believe they saw her coming and thought they could take advantage of her. They knew what they were doing when they did not give her a receipt! Shyters and unethical are what they are. When I read some of the other reviews, I saw that people that needed hems were serviced that day - why did my sister have to wait a week? Also charging her $40 for a HEM?!!? Sheer robbery. When I saw a reviewer saying she was charged $20 for altering straps on a bridal dress? That is a more complex alteration than hemming a dress. It just doesn't equate. I'm not stopping here. I will report them to the Better Business Bureau and whomever else I can that are in positions of authority that can put them out of business. They don't deserve to remain in business. read more

I am not happy at all!! I brought a bridesmaid dress in to have shortened and they used a darker colored thread on the bottom so now that stands out! And there was a grease mark on the back of it! When I showed it to the lady all she would say is it didn't happen there that maybe it was my shoes. I only put the shoes on after I put the dress on and was very careful not to step on the dress and took the shoes off before I took the dress off. Not Happy!!! read more

I took a dress to get shortened - just a basic hem, and asked the woman who speaks very little English to use the excess material to make a bandana. I explained to her that the dress & bandana were for a disco party, so any old material or color wasn't going to work. She seemed to understand, and said it would be $20, which I thought was very high for just a basic hemming, but it was also for a bandana, so I didn't say anything. My husband had gotten some pants shortened a couple of weeks before & only paid $8 or $9. When I went to pick up, the hemming was fine, but she didn't make the bandana, and had thrown the material away! She said something about being busy when I dropped the dress off & didn't write it down on the ticket (there was only one other customer there when I dropped off the dress). I was very irritated & upset. Then to top it off - she didn't even take anything off the charge! I paid the $20 & left. Time to find a new tailor. read more

Terrible. They ruined my 10 year old sons brand new suit. They argued with us then said his customers are always complaining about errors. He refused any compensation. I had to pay him for ruining my sons suit. Worse experience ever. What's also bad it that I was a customer for over 10 years. He does not care anymore. read more
