We have been craving BBQ since moving here from Texas a year ago. We came on a Sunday. Giving this a 4 star because it may have been an off day and it's hard to compare to Tx bbq ;). The good: [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seating is plentiful and we were able to sit right away. They have both booths and large tables for larger parties if needed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was nice. The bbq sauces are some of the best I've ever had. The barbecue beans are delish and sweet, if you like a sweet barbecue bean. The cornbread was really good. The menu is quite large with tons of options. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cool atmosphere inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]And bathrooms are clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The - could be better: my bbq brisket sandwich was extremely dry to the point some of the pieces i couldn't even bend the meat. There was very little bbq sauce on it so thankfully i loved the bbq sauces so i drenched it. All the sauces are kept on the tables for easy access. The okra was not crispy. The ribs looked good on the plate turned upside down but once turned over the tops were burnt and the meat was also very dry. Also the house salad, i had to ask for cheese and croutons, it came with one slice of tomato and one slice of cucumber. So the house salad is quite bland just a heads up. Went with my papa cause he passed it on the way home from church and said it's always packed and smells so good! It ended up being really good and had some really solid ribs. I had the shrimp and rib combo and both did not disappoint, but I will say being from Texas I have had better. The bbq beans were also a hit, but the Mac and cheese was very average at best. I asked what style bbq it was and the waitress didn't have an answer, but it was definitely Carolina style and had a mustard based bbq sauce. The cornbread was also very tasty and moist. Everyone there is nice and the plates look good...However, my to-go brisket sandwich was chopped fine & quite dry and couldn't taste the smokiness. The corn casserole was good, MacNCheese was average. Wouldn't recommend the brisket but the ribs etc looked good read more

We had dinner July 14th around 7pm. He ordered ribs,baked beans. He also ordered slaw but mistake in the order he received cornbread casserole. His ribs were soso,cornbread casserole was yuck,backed beans solo. Cornbread was too sweet. Sweet Tea was ok. I ordered the three catfish,pineapple casserole, corn on the cob. My fish were very large but were hot and had a good taste, the casserole was mushy,it should of had a crunch biting into it,the corn on the cob was horrible. Venice had horrible water and I think because the corn was boiled in the water resulted in a very bad taste of the corn. The cornbread that comes with the meal was a little too sweet. My tea was sweetened and I thought it was good. Our server was very good personality and kept up with our needs. We will never return to Gold Rush BBQ sadly. read more

We usually have to make that request, but this time we didn't, and they still came out just right. We tried the Cajun dry rub and one of their classic BBQ flavors. The Cajun wasn't as spicy as we hoped, but still had good flavor. The BBQ was tangy, smoky, and delicious. We accidentally found this place a couple years ago. And I have not been able to stop thinking about it since then. We tried dining in tonight, and we were not disappointed. Tonight was all you can eat baby back ribs and $1.49 beers! The ribs were tender and delicious! It paired well with the Land Shark beer. What was even more amazing than the food was the service! I was really pretty disappointed in this place considering I had this craving for great Smoky barbecue. Unfortunately, it was anything but. The cornbread was dry and disappointing. However, the person I was with ordered shrimp with their ribs and said they were pretty good for what it's worth. The Redskin mashed potatoes were, however, over the top and really great. The beer selection was lacking as well. Our server, Ayla was awesome! Now for the food. We started with the jalapeño poppers for our appetizer. They were very good with the raspberry sauce. I ordered 1/2 rack ribs with cucumber salad, and baked beans. The ribs and cucumber salad were really good. I'm still on the fence about the baked beans. They have a select draft beer list and the beer is served super ice cold in a frosted mug.
