Pricing here is extremely inflated. I was quoted about $6,000 for a custom platinum setting, which I later purchased elsewhere for $945 including CAD design, appraisal, and third-party verification. When I declined, I was told it would still cost over $1,000 just to set my diamond into a completed setting with no modifications required. I was also quoted $4,700 for a ~5 dwt platinum band. At the time, platinum spot was around $103/dwt, making that pricing very difficult to justify. I ended up purchasing an identical 6.5 dwt band elsewhere for $825, again with appraisal and third-party verification included. This felt like aggressive markup rather than pricing based on actual materials or labor. Communication was also lacking, I was told emails and voicemails had been sent, but I never received either. I would strongly recommend getting multiple quotes before doing business here. read more

I went to this location a few weeks ago to have my engagement ring re-sized. The jeweler was very knowledgeable and explained my options (the ring was spinning on my finger but the band was too narrow for beads or an adjustable shank). After deciding to make the ring larger so I could wear it on my other hand, they added more gold and cleaned it up so it looked absolutely new. The price was very reasonable and I got my ring back within a couple days...and that was just after Christmas when I'm sure they were very busy. I'd go back here again for jewelry repair or maintenance. read more

Brought in a nice Swiss movement watch for repair. The second hand had fallen off but everything else was fine. Got the watch back fixed but there was lint and some other debris under the crystal and on the watch face. Brought it back again and the watch was returned with the dial misaligned. Each time I brought it in it seemed like there was more wear from the repair. A bit cautious to have anyone take it apart again after my experience and haven't really worn it since. November 12, 2019. This was my first experience with this merchant and will be my last. I brought in an earring where the post had broken off. I called for an estimate, and told it could range between $25-$75. But when I got there, the cost became $100, yikes. I should have listened to my gut and left. But they were a gift from my brother and important to me it was fixed. On the positive, they did a good repair. First negative issue. When picking up the earrings, I wasn't impressed they didn't provide backs. I think it would have been good service on their part had they asked when I had dropped them off. I know that may sound petty. Yet, when I mentioned it, the counter woman's reply, "I did't leave them with backs." Really?? Well, if I had left them with backs, then I wouldn't need them provided!! After my spending $100, Gold Rush couldn't pitch in a few dollars by suppling the backs as a courtesy?! November 13, 2019, I took the earrings to two other jewelers and inquired what their repair fee would be. One was $30-$65 and agreed, $100 seemed excessive. I bought two backs from them for $6. Another store, the owner said $15, and the repair would have been done there vs sending out. What a difference between the various merchants. My second issue. Considering I now feel I over paid for the repair, providing the backs was the least they could do. So learn from my mistake. Don't take the first jewelers estimate, shop around. I wish I had. November 14, 2019 The owner reached out to me and we discussed my experience. He explained the cost was due to the time taken to do the repair, to ensure it would last. Yet, I was quoted $100 while dropping them off, prior to the repair being done. How would they know it would take longer at that point? I am not completely on board with his explanation. We brought in a watch to reattach the bezel (glass cover on the watch). Previously (within the last year or so) another jeweler had reattached in "on the spot" for $10, but Gold Rush said it would take three days and cost $25 (should have been a warning sign right there). When we came to pick it up three days later, all of a sudden the price was now $35 PLUS tax --- which should not legally be charged on a service, only on the purchase of goods. When we said they had quoted $25 for the repair, they backed down --- but still insisted on charging tax. The reason for this??? They said while they were doing the repair, two of the numbers on the watch had fallen off and they had to put "resin" on to reattach them --- so that was the "goods" they were charging for. What a bunch of BS. We much prefer to do business with HONEST people so definitely do NOT recommend. read more

I take all my new watches h'ere if I need them sized and adjusted and everytime the people there are friendly, helpful and patient. This time, Jonathan helped me and we needed to adjust the bracelet band 3 times to get it to fit to my liking and he was as courteous as can be and wasn't bothered (that I know of) by the adjustment process back and forth. I (and my mother) will continue to give this establishment our business. My experience with them starting with the initial phone call and all the way through to the time I left the store was excellent. The process was easy and efficient with no having to wait or set an appointment time to come in like most other places I had contacted. Not only did I accomplish what I had set out to do I did so beyond my expectations. The associate helping me was very good at including me in each part of the process and providing me information about individual jewelry items. I learned a lot about gold and jewelry in general because of how he took the time to explain the intricacies of gold jewelry and how it pertained to each item we were discussing. This was the type of situation where I would generally be intimidated because of my lack of knowledge but this wasn't the case today. I feel very fortunate to have recently discovered Gold Rush Jewelers in Novato. I had 4 watches that needed batteries and I needed a watchband. Gold Rush Jewelers was one stop shopping, offering the best price I have found for battery replacement, a wide selection of watch bands and friendly, professional service. It's comfortable to wait in the store, and check out the all the beautiful items, but I dashed out to pick up a few things in the shopping center, and everything was ready for me when I came back. In one of my watches, I thought the battery was sluggish. I brought it back (all batteries have a one year warranty) and the problem was with my watch. The watch repair person on sight made a few minor adjustments, and I was on my way. They are now sizing a ring for me, and I plan to use their services for all my jewelry needs. It took about five minutes, and because the part they used wasn't OEM, they offered me a 40% discount. I will definitely go back. The only downside is that they don't make custom four-finger rings. this place is such a wonderful hidden gem! i felt very welcomed upon walking in by both of the sales consultants, Monique and Taylor. genuine smiles and best-in-class service! love how friendly both of these gals are and i felt very comfortable taking my tiime in looking everything over. they have a lovely collection of beautiful jewelry, watches, and some figurines as well. i looked at several pieces and i absolutely fell in love with a necklace. There was no one there but me and two worker's who was more concerned about their conversation than a paying customer. Not a hello or I'll be with you was said. After getting my engagement ring, I needed it sized down and I took it to the "other" jewelry store in town that is touted as the best. Needless to say, they didn't do a great job (that's another review), and I looked for another local business to give my hard earned money to. I called around town and was so pleased with the phone etiquette from Dana that I decided to bring my ring to GR. However, I work in Novato and explained this and Dana was quick to offer their services in Novato as an alternative. That was even better! I called the Novato store and spoke with Elise who advised me that they could size my ring the same day for $40, much better than the jewelry store that kept my ring for a week and wanted to charge me again for their bad service.
