I ordered the Breakfast Classic #2 (eggs, hash browns and 1/2 order of biscuits & gravy) with a side of goetta (German-inspired sausage with rolled oats & onions). Me and my family had a great time at Gold Star Chili. We came late in the afternoon on Christmas Eve but we're welcomed all the same. We sat down and they brought us paper menus. We decided to get the loaded fries for the table and I ordered a single cheese dog. It came loaded with cheese, chili, onions, and mustard. I only ordered one and it surprised me how small it was, but the price matched the food. The food was good...everyone loved it. My niece keeps raving about her plain bacon cheeseburger. She said it was one of the best she's had. The waitress was super sweet as well. If we're in town, we'll be back. read more

My family has been coming here for 23+ years! My grandparents have ate there every Friday at the same time for well over a decade! When my grandpa passed everyone reach out to offer their condolences. Doug is know by all servers in Wilmington to treat his servers well and it shows when you go in. The food is always great and the servers really do seem to be in a good mood while working. read more

Fast and friendly service make this location of Goldstar one of my favorite quick bites in Wilmington. We stopped in to redeem coupons that the kids got from school. They love the oyster crackers and by the time they had eaten them, our food was ready. The coney sauce was fresh and we are big fans of the monstrous amount of cheese we got! 2 cheese coneys, a Go-Rito, and cheese fries were devoured at our table and! The server was super kind and attentive to the girls, even joking with them a couple of times. We will definitely return to this location! Food is good. Comparable to Skyline. I like their coneys better that Skyline, but that's just personal preference. The problem I have with Goldstar is the ventilation in the restaurant is terrible. I go in the store for a 30 minute lunch and my clothes smell like it the rest of the day. It been that way for years. read more

2017-05027-visit I wanted to try Gold star, since I like their local competitors. It wasnt bad and I would eat it again. However their competitor is better in two areas. first of all it more watery and the chili is nothing like how it is pictured. all the chili goes to the bottom of the plate. Also Gold star serve smaller portions than their competitor. while it is not bad I feel that this can be easily fixed by the restaurant. The rating I would give would be a 2.5.. I feel 2 is too low and 3 is too high. I dropped it to a 2 since there is a better place to get it from. But it I was really hungry I would eat this again. read more

I've been to a Skyline and enjoyed it, and this was my first time to a Gold Star. Honestly, I couldn't tell the difference. Even the names of the items on the menus were the same. I'm going to give the nod to Skyline though, only because when I mentioned it was my first time there I got a free goodie bag (I told the waitress at Gold Star and no freebies). Not just chili&dogs.Very good french toast, omelettes or a monster breakfast burrito. Waitresses are efficient and seem to like working with customers and each other. Owner is a hands on manager and not above pitching in to help at the grill or in taking an order to the table. Lunch & dinner selections are also noteworthy. Fresh salads, excellent club sandwiches. My wife and I both enjoy the grilled chicken sandwich on an english muffin. There are several other above average restaurants in the Wilmington area but this one is our favorite. read more

We do not have chili on top of noodles in Cali. This seemed so weird and random. It's like an Italian restaurant and a Mexican restaurant had a random hook up and this was its unexpected baby. No matter how unusual this is to a non-Ohio resident it is good and addicting. Some things in life do not seem like they are meant for each other but this is! I have brought my Cali friends to eat here when they visit and they had the same initial thoughts but the final opinions are the same. read more

I went here with a friend after class one day for breakfast and I was appalled as to how dirty the kitchen area was! i'm more of a skyline guy, but I'll eat either one. one time in the drivethrough I ordered 3 cheese coneys. they actually forgot the cheese. so I had to get out in the cold and go in and have them fix it. which the manager did. and appologiesed so I was not overly offended. just a simple mistake and I could understand. the only thing about it was that the manager alerted the lady that made the food and she openly swore that she put cheese on them. I told her that she did not and she looked at the manager and said, "yes I did". so unless I was an expert and picked off every single piece of cheese.... put it in my glovebox... came in the store to complain. all this just to get some free extra cheese... come on. that's funny. but I did get the problem resolved. I just think that this lady might get her mind checked out. she obviously belived that I was a liar. and I was wrong. but there was no cheese on my cheese coneys... funny and simple. not worth effort to get mad about it and the manager was nice and its all good.
