Before discovering the Jewellery Clinic, I had called around to a few different jewellery stores for quotes. They were charging at least 2-3 times what I ended up paying at the Jewellery Clinic, plus they wanted to ship my ring offsite (likely to the Jewellery Clinic) and it would take at least a week. When I called the Jewellery Clinic, I was warmly greeted by the owner who scheduled my appointment the next day as requested. The place was very busy with a steady flow of repeat customers who seemed very pleased with their quality of work. The goldsmith worked behind a secure glass wall, so the quality of workmanship could be seen. The ring resizing was done in less than an hour, actually during my lunch break from work. The owner, his wife and goldsmith were very friendly during the process. So pleased with the service that I will be back for more jewellery work. Thank you G!!

The "FGB" (Fancy Glass Beads) that are made in China that "are comparable to Japanese and Czech Seed Beads but at half the price. Specially made for Beadazzle by FGB" Are advertised as solid glass. They are in fact painted beads and the coating rubs off easily when doing slip stitch bead crochet, and square stitch. They often use photos from genuine brands to promote these cheaper, low quality beads. They're cheap beads. you get exactly what you pay for. This company could improve by allowing customers to write reviews for their products, offering refunds, and not stealing photos from genuine brands to promote their own inferior products. It is incredibly disappointing that I can no longer recommend this Canadian website. I will change this review if Beadazzle.ca refunds the portion of my order that was falsely advertised, AND changes the product photos AND descriptions of their "FGB" beads thus making themselves trustworthy again. Until then, the review stands.

He charged well more than I've ever paid for that repair at other jewelers, took something like 6 weeks, and when I got it back he'd built the points so high that the ring was constantly snagging on things. Six months later, I took the ring in for a different repair elsewhere, and the jeweler pointedly asked if I needed the setting fixed, because the points were too high. Now, a few months later, one of the points has come off again and I'm back where I was a year ago, needing a new setting.

He helped me define a ring design (based on an engraving from Jules Verne's novel From the Earth to the Moon) and helped my wife design her very different and more abstract sapphire studded ring. He used our gold (old french coins) and he helped us determine the purity in order to get it refined to 24k and then alloyed to white gold as we wanted. He uses a wax carving and casting technique and dental tools for engravings so it is definitely hand made and unique but also very cool. Price was reasonable and quality exceeded expectations. If you want something that is custom made and not machined to order overseas, but still have a similar price, you should definitely try working with Dustin.

I think the name of the woman I spoke with was Monica. As soon as she heard I had a ring from People's, all she would tell me is that I had to go there to have it repaired. I told her that I would rather pay more to have it fixed locally because People's sends it out East. I kept trying to mention my family ring (because I absolutely would NOT send that anywhere in case it got lost) but she refused to listen and just kept saying, "go back to People's!". I literally almost cried because I'm so attached to that ring and it breaking was already so stressful. Anyways, I went to Independent Goldsmith, paid twice what I would have at People's in order to keep it local, and received excellent service. I would not recommend LL Private Jewellers at all, absolute crap service.
