I took my car to Midas for an oil change. They told me there was around $500 worth of things wrong with my car, including a cracked serpentine belt. I got a weird vibe, so I took it to Firestone - I just told them I wanted a diagnostic to make sure everything was okay. They charged me $25 and told me I needed over $1k worth of repairs, including a cracked motor mount. Btw, they said the serpentine belt was fine. So I thought, if the first place is lying, maybe the second one is, too. So I took it to Thunderbird Automotive Services, who charged me $75 and told me that none of the other stuff was wrong, but that I needed $2,200+ worth of work. They said the motor mounts were fine, but my tires had wear on the inner edges which means I need an alignment, my fog lights need to be replaced (the little lenses over them are broken but the lights work) for $575, the skid plate was broken and needed to be replaced for $520, the brakes were bad and needed replacing, I needed a "decarbonization" and a fluid flush, which were hundreds of dollars, etc. I was pulling my hair out because I knew that it was likely just another place lying to me. I found out that my friend's brother is a mechanic at Goldade Garage so I took my car to him today. He did a full workup on it and found that NOTHING WAS WRONG. The tires did not have uneven wear. The skid plate had less-than-palm-sized damage to it. The fog lights could be replaced for around $200, which I don't even need to do since they work. The motor mounts are perfect. The brakes are fine. The serpentine belt has the tiniest little groove in it like if you pushed your thumbnail into it. The decarbonization doesn't even apply to my car or my situation. The fluids are all fine, and the filters are all good. He said I didn't even owe him for the time and work today. So I bought him a case of cold beer, thanked him for being honest, and told him he has a customer for life. Shoutout to Erik - thank you! read more

We took a truck here to have it looked at before buying it. The kid we bought the truck from claimed that a mechanic here had done some work on it. We were told by a mechanic here that the truck needed oil cooler lines, a transfer case, and an intermediate shaft. Within a couple of hundred miles of driving the truck, we started having issues. My AC went out and I took it to my BFs work at a shop I won't name, anyway it wasn't to add freon or a recharge.....my AC compressor needed to be replaced....however this particular shop was more than I wanted to pay so took it over to Rick Goldade's shop, a recommendation from a friend.....he was able to do the work in less than a day and save me $400 the other shop would have charged. I was referred to Goldade by my son. He could not say enough about the outstanding work Rick had done to his friend's cars he had taken in. So I had my car towed to Goldade, it was making so much noise I didn't want to drive it. When Rick called, he told me exactly what was wrong with my car and said he could possibly have it repaired that day. When I got back to his shop that day (Rick sent someone to pick me up) he showed me the defective part and explained how that part impacted my engine and how the car ran. Rick is amazing. I was recommended to visit Goldade by a guy at O'Reilley's. I took my mom's car in with a steering column noise. The guys there did some research online, got into the car, tightened up the steering shaft knuckle, checked the front end, and then did more research. In the end, nothing was fixed but it's been making this noise for years. They deduced it was the electric motor with plastic gears that they've seen in other vehicles and not worth the fix just for the noise since everything works fine. They only worked on it for 30 minutes or so but were really cool and didn't charge anything for their time. read more

Very upset with the way I was treated...Horn was sticking....they disconnected my Security System..Three weeks late, my horn is sticking again...This time they disconnected it like they should have to Begin with..pull the front bumper and disconnect the horn...I called Rick and told him I was angry..not only did he use profanity,,, he told me to lose heir F_______n number....He Could have done the right thing and made things right..That was not the case..He overcharged me in the last few years in regards to my airconditioning unit..and I ended up taking it elsewhere..I don't like it when an individual takes advantage of an older Single Woman..Shame on You..... read more
