The first car I took to Armstrong was my Nissan Altima. I went to start it one day and it wouldn't. Two shops told me the engine was blown. Quinn called to tell me that the oil was too heavy. He changed the oil and that car ran perfectly. Then I decided I needed a Jeep. My first Jeep completely shut off when I was on the freeway. I took it to Armstrong and Quinn said I need a fuel pump. So, that's was fixed. Well, I got another Jeep and when it hit 156,000 miles everything started to go wrong. Quinn has been very honest with me the whole way. I have never felt like he has charged me more than the job was worth. Quinn is honest, confident and truly a master mechanic. He also has a terrific team. I was involved in a fender bender and my airbag deployed. Thank goodness no one was hurt! The airbag had to be replaced, along with the seatbelt, and my car also had body damage that needed repair. I knew right away that I would take my car to Armstrong .Automotive. A few years ago, my daughter had an accident with that very same car, and it had extensive damage. I had taken it to Armstrong then, and Quinn did a great job wrangling with the insurance and making sure I got all top quality replacement parts. The car was repaired in a matter of 2-3 weeks and was as good as new. With this accident, I knew that if the insurance claims adjuster missed anything, Quinn would go back to them and add it on to the claim. Sure enough, he found a couple of things that they missed and made sure it was covered. Again, the turn around time for the repair was reasonable-- about 2 weeks. In addition to the items on insurance claim, I had them fix a few other things that needed attention. My driver's seat base needed to be welded back together because it broke and so the seat jiggle-- very annoying-- was fixed. I had a small dent over a passenger side wheel well prior to the accident, from when my son ran into my car with his car. Also, the body work needed to be touched up. Quinn was very fair in his pricing on the additional repairs needed. Even though my car is now 10 years old, it looks great and is in tip top condition. I give Quinn and everyone at Armstrong Automotive credit for doing another great job on my car. I don't live in that part of town, and so I had to make a special effort to go to Armstrong Automotive but I knew it would be worth it and it was! read more

I love these guys, and still have high hopes they'll open a branch in Sioux Falls! :) When I moved to Phx in 2015 my car's a/c hadn't been working for awhile. Armstrong's was the second quote I got and from the moment I walked in the door, I knew I was in the right place. For the next 4.5 years they were the only car guys I'd consider - and they did a lot of work on my car! They were always honest about what needed done, and when they gave me a quote the final bill was always right at, or just under, the quote. We've had all 3 of our cars here at one time or another. They do the standard gamut of car repairs plus alignments, lifts and tires for off-road vehicles and probably other stuff I can't think of that I haven't had to have done. I like Quinn - he's a straight shooter and probably the most honest person I've ever met. I even like doing the routine maintenance G or I could do ourselves here because Quinn makes sure to give the cars the once-over and alert you if he sees anything askew. Prices are fair. Recent alignment $100. Oil change $40. Couple hundred dollars to deal with a whacked out cooling system in an SUV that had sat without running for more than 2 years. Most of the time I look at the bill and I'm shocked in a good way - prices are much less than I imagine they will be. Recently we dropped off G's car for brakes and Quinn called an hour later telling me the car didn't need brakes for another 15,000 miles or so and to come pick it up - no charge for his time. Our cars are never there for more than a day either - swift service. read more

I've used Armstrong Automotive a couple times before. The first time, my brake line went out. The second time, my battery was dying. (These events were spread apart by over a year.) When my brakes failed, I looked up the nearest auto mechanic and they were it. The service was fast, friendly, and fair. So when the battery started going out, I could've taken my car anywhere, but I brought it back here. Now I'm looking at another issue (misfiring cylinders -- it's an old car). I trust Armstrong Automotive and will be bringing my car in for this repair too. They're worth giving a try. I've had nothing but a positive experience so far. I brought my car in today because the dealership told me that I needed new rear brakes. While not wanting to pay dealer prices, I took it to Armstrong and dropped off the car. 2 hours later, Quinn called to tell me that my brakes DO NOT need to be replaced at all and that they still have a lot of life left in them. Maybe I showed up at a bad time---I guess 1:00 is their lunch hour. I went in the front door, heard the chime go off indicating that a customer has entered the front door. I was ignored. I walked around to the work area and found everyone eating. No hello, can I help you- nothing. Then Quinn, the owner, asked if he could help me. I told him I need an estimate for the damages on my vehicle. He seemed disorganized and not motivated but came out to my vehicle anyway and looked at it and said he would get to the estimate after lunch and send me a text with the information. Never got a call nor a text. He did not inspect the vehicle as the other places I went to for a quote did. He is unprofessional, disorganized and obviously not trustworthy of his word. I would not recommend Armstrong Automotive. If you are looking for an honest, get right to it, and reasonable collision shop go to Roger Douglas at Altra Collision Center!! Quinn indicated "he has been in business for 26 years" Wow- he is fortunate cause I can't understand how. read more

Honestly I'm super sad. I went here because I did research them and I saw they were a family business. I needed a repair and called and asked if they could and a ballpark figure he said 500 I said ok thanks let's get it done. The next day he called and said 1100 for a certain amount of work. Next day he called 2000 to do some more work I said no I don't have that I have 1100 like we planned. He said ok I will stop and you can come get. I said ok thinking the work for 1100 was getting done as we had planned. I towed the truck in and I towed the truck out. I am a woman and trust that I am going somewhere I can trust since I saw so many good reviews. When I get the receipt I realize that maybe 1/3 of the work agreed one was done. And the price was 1037.00 labor being 650.00. I am devastated that the initial work wasn't done and the price was relatively the same and no mention of not doing the other work ?! I honestly hate me mechanics. I really don't know what else to say except be careful and ask questions don't expect things are done ask if they are. Thanks I hope this helps someone read more

I went to this shop to get freon added to my a/c. It was blowing cool air, but not cold.I ended up with a bill for $184.00. System check $75.00, freon $60.00, $35.00 for dye & a litlle valve, that appeared to be fine. I just wanted freon added, I was not advised what these charges would be. There was no major or minor work done to the unit. I would never recomend this establishment to anyone. read more
