I believe this is the only Golden 1 location in Vallejo, and I've been coming here for years. Starting back when I had a car loan with them. Now, I mainly use them for my savings account. Every time I visit, the staff has been consistently nice, and this visit was no different. The branch has a comfortable setup with couches available while you wait, which I appreciate. They also had music playing in the background, which was a nice touch for those who don't have their AirPods in it made the wait feel a little more relaxed. I noticed one teller had a sign that said they were in training, but everything still moved smoothly. The security guard even opened the door, which was a nice touch. The teller who helped me with my transaction was friendly and made the experience easy. Overall, it's always been a solid and reliable place for my banking. read more

New on-line banking system installed in February 2026, is a mess. Your IT people need to know your entire business before they make so called upgrades to your systems. Use to love this credit Union. Long time customer. Man has it gone down hill. Long lines, short staffed and the ATM's are either completely down, won't let you withdraw cash or wont accept cash deposits at the moment. I had fraud on my account so I closed my debit card. I decided to go inside the bank on a Sat. (8/5/23) to get a new debit card because I was leaving town for a week and really needed it before the 10 day mailing period. The main line was super long so while standing in it I asked the passing by manager if I was in the correct line for a new card and she snapped back that she's the only one there. Not what I asked. So I asked the question again and she said yes. After I made it to a teller I was asked to wait to the side for my card to print. Then after waiting over 25 minutes I was told the machine wasn't printing the debit cards and I would have to wait for it to be mailed after all. Well back from vacay and still haven't got a new card so I had to go back in the branch today (8/14/23) to make a simple deposit. There was only 1 teller and the line was almost out the door. Eventually the same manager came out of her office and begrudgingly asked if any customers in line had a no-cash transaction she could help them with ... condescendingly kept repeating no cash like we we're all 3rd graders and couldn't understand what no cash meant. Hope my card comes soon so I don't have to go inside the branch anymore but I feel it's time to look elsewhere for a bank that appreciates and takes care of their customers better!!! read more

Hi, Im Manuel Raras, writing in to shout out an employee after a stellar experience at the Vallejo location. After two years of struggling with customer service number reps and automated systems to try to solve a single problem with my loan, I went in person for help. I talked with a rep here, Chana Johnson Marchall, and I truly cannot express how grateful I am to have been paired with her. In the span of 40 minutes Chana not only gave the information I needed but also, crucially, personally made several calls to other departments in different locations for me. I would have had to make the calls on my own, and I don't have great vocabulary for banking related things, so I was worried I wouldn't be able to navigate the conversations. Chana took all the work on my plate and deftly navigated a complicated situation from start until resolution. Not only did I leave with answers, but I left without a problem, as well as with a savings account! I have never had an encounter at any establishment with such a friendly ​worker who obviously cared deeply about my stress levels, let alone one with a deep enough understanding of her job that she could actually solve my issues in a single visit. Wanted to cash a check from their bank as a non-member and was told there's a $10 fee, okay I said that's fine... then they couldn't cash the check because they thought the date looked like "2004" instead of "2024"... I've been a customer for over 5 years and channeled nearly a million dollars of salary through this credit Union. I'm a big believer in credit unions but the 1st time I try for a small loan I get rejected in minutes it was just run through some software probably AI no person looked at it. So if that's a way of credit unions going to behave it's no different from a bank. Credit unions were created after the 1929 crash to help ordinary people get loans. But it seems to me golden one doesn't care about its customers anymore than a bank does so I may as well just go to a bank. read more

Two stars for having an ATM that I can use for my credit union without incurring fee's but it sucks when you wait in line to break your 20.00 notes to smaller bills and they tell you "no" because you are not a member. There are no other indications on the door or through a friendly interactive "service" that would deter a customer from waiting until you get up to the line and the teller replies," we cannot assist non members " and I'm thinking,"well I am a member of e credit union, I just got money out of your ATM..." I didn't solicit to become a customer but was became a customer due to a car loan rate. And the branch is very close to home. I pay my loan in person because I shop the grocery store next door and it's convenient. I'm no genius to managing and running a business but something is inherently lacking here. And it's a simple fix...... Hire 1 or more people. And ad at least 30 hours to the payroll. The hours that this branch is open is a no brainer for scheduling . It's only one shift to figure out. Scheduling is simple with these branch's hours. Affording more hours in payroll is a double edged sword but you have to invest in the people and take care the customer wait times. Otherwise your growth will be stale, at least at this location. No exaggeration but there is a teller line almost every time I visit the branch. And that's fine. But get some faces in front the customer. Even 6 hours a day during breaks and lunches to take the pressure off the one teller. Even on short line days with one teller it's a long wait. And get the people in the office on the front end (teller) to help build a positive reputation. At least one of them. So you have coverage on the teller line. Yes they always ask to help you in line but most transaction don't work that way so the lines still remain. Golden One, there's no need to answer this review with your normal response like in other reviews. I challenge anyone above the branch manager from Golden One to step up your game and figure this out. I closed my account due to the awful customer service I had received! Please believe the negative reviews that have been posted! Given that I've been a member for YEARS, I wanted to deposit a check to have Christmas money to spend for my kids. Bijan, the teller, informed me that there would be a 2 day hold due to lack of activity. I had told them Ive been on workers comp & funds are deposited on a card, so was I supposed to keep withdrawing and depositing just to keep my Golden1 account active? I was told my funds weren't going to be available after 4 days due to Christmas. Not only did I receive inaccurate responses, when a manager came around, I had requested my account to be closed over and over again, but the manager insisted on arguing with me and even said, "I can't close it because you keep talking," although she consistently argued to disagree with me. I stated she was being rude & she still argued with me. And catch this, another time when I spoke to Golden1 customer service by phone, having them on speaker, they told this bank to cash my check, but this bank argued not to do just that. I was appalled how this bank argued with their very own customer service and finally made an exception. Save your time. Garbage. Save your time and do not do business at this location if you can avoid it. In April I bought a new car. My dad signed for the loan because I don't have credit. I went in to make a payment today, I had cash and the payment stub. Should be simple, right? No, not with this pathetic excuse of a bank. I waited in line more than twenty minutes, while holding my year old baby. They only had two tellers working. When I got up to the counter, I told the teller, Bijan, that I wanted to make a payment. I slid the money and cash over. He asked for my ID, I told him the account is not in my name. Then, he said since it's not my account, I need an ID. I told him that I didn't have one with me. This time he said that I needed an ID because I was paying in cash. I made it clear that all I was trying to do was make a payment. He said that they needed my ID "to verify that the money is coming from a safe place, so to speak, cash can be dirty". What? When I repeated I did not have my ID, and I just wanted to make a payment, he told me I could go to my car and get my ID. Clearly listening is not his strong suit. I told him I did not have my ID in my car, I did not have one with me. He said that I could go home to get it, and come back. I told him that I live in Fairfield. His response - there's a branch in Fairfield. Yeah, twenty something miles away from the branch that I was already at. I asked if there was someone else who could help, and could I talk to someone else. He said he would go get his manager. Well, I can't tell you how the conversation with the manager went because she did not have the courtesy or professionalism to come and speak with me herself, face to face. Bijan claimed that the manager said the same thing, they could not take my payment without an ID. Someone needs to show me where in the bank is it clearly posted for customers to see that a cash payment cannot be accepted without an ID. Hint - it's not posted. Maybe somebody could point out to me on the loan documents or papers received from the bank where it says that a cash payment requires an ID? Yeah, it's not stated anywhere in there either. Unprofessional. No concept of proper customer service. No common sense in running a business. No copies of supposed policies posted for customers to see. Save your time and do not deal with this branch, with this teller, Bijan, or with this manager whose name is unknown because she couldn't be bothered to come and address a matter with a customer. read more

Rarely I go to a teller. Everything I do is electronically or online. It happens during this visit I needed to do a minor complex transaction that an ATM or online banking can't do. As I entered, there was only one person ahead of me and I didn't wait that long. Speaking with the teller was an easy experience. She did exactly what I needed to be done and I was on my way. That's the kind of service I like. There's nothing special about this particular branch, but overall I've been pleased with the services they provide. I've been banking with Golden1 for years and ever since I will never consider going back to a non credit union. There's always about 2 workers( 3 if you're lucky or they just opened) , I understand being personable but having full on conversations after transactions are complete is the worst. Their system is down a lot, long lines, miscommunication with some staff will lead to a deposit being held for a couple days instead of instantly posted. Run away from this institution. Their online and app banking are frequently not working, no one on the phone can help you, and most importantly, they lie. I opened an account quickly and easily, but that is the only thing that has been quick or easy. They tell you that they have the app for check deposits - great! What they neglect to tell you is that they will put a NINE day hold on the funds from checks you deposit. That is nine business days (which they don't tell you, either, even after telling you about the hold). The customer service is exceptionally bad on the phone. When I went in it was a bit better, but that isn't enough to keep my accounts open. Closing them as soon as they stop holding my funds hostage. read more

The worse service from any financial institution I have ever dealt with. After two cars loans and a CC with a spending balance of $10,000 and a line of credit of $10,000, I am closing my account. Had an auto payment set up to pay on CC and LOC and I was still charge a late fee. The error was with G1. I have spent hours and days re-organizing and fixing my account. After paying on time for years G1 charged my account a late fee and would not even discuss wavering the fee. When you call the customer service number the employees are not bankers. They are unable to help in the simplest banking questions. The incompetence of their employees is rampant. I known closing a CC is not a good idea for your credit rating, but it is worth the a few points off my 760 rating to be rid of G1. read more

Absolutely worst place around. I left my debit card (from another bank) in the ATM. The branch manager could care less.... She confirmed my card was there but it's a "rule" if you don't bank there even with ID that they can't give it to you? Now I have to run around town to get another card. I called corporate and got another person who didn't care either. I work in retail management and this was the worst service and biggest inconvenience.
