    Shrimp & Chicken Fried Rice.
    Gary M.

August 31/2023: Dinner w Al. So this is weird...it's take out food only but you can eat in the dining room but in take out containers. They were no plates or table settings but they'd supply plates (if asked) but no cutlery, only had plastic?! We ordered the following Chicken Pakora ($13.95), Bombay Tiger Prawns ($15.50), Crispy Ginger Beef ($14.95) & Manchuria House Special Fried Rice w Chicken & Shrimp ($13.95). Everything was good but the Ginger beef was delicious. The serving sizes were very competitive as well. The Tiger Prawns would have been better without gravy but they were still delicious. There was no real table service. The server/owner was very nice & polite & DID bring the food & clear the table but we packed up the food & prepared it for travel. This is a do over with some modification to our food order.

    Being admitted into the hospital.

We went in on Friday (10.06.23) and placed an order. When ordering I politely explained that I had a seafood allergy - specifically, shrimp, crab and lobster. And I asked that a fresh pan be used, because even the oil or any remnants will cause cross-contamination. The lady taking my order understood and went into the kitchen for a moment and returned. I assumed she was speaking to the cook. She took my money, and we waited a short time for the food to be made. I ended up being HOSPITALIZED for 10 HOURS, after I called 911 for immediate assistance. I literally couldn't breath and felt like I was dying. I am not being overly dramatic. Unless you know, you don't know. This is a WORD OF WARNING. If you suffer from ANY FOOD ALLERGIES avoid this place.

Chicken pakora. 10 peices for 10.75. Crunchy, moist and with a tangy dipping sauce. A definite order.

An amazing restaurant if you want anything Hakka, Thai or Indian (or if your group can't decide between the three). Absolutely delicious dishes with great portions. The service was excellent also. They stay consistently very busy with take out orders and incoming patrons, but the staff works hard to stay on top of everything. There was a very rude table beside us but they kept calm (even though they were short staffed) and did everything systematically. We had the Chicken Pakora (10 peices - 10.75), Large Seafood Hot and Sour Soup (9.95), Dry Chili Fish (10.50), Manchurian House Special Hakka Noodle with chicken and shrimp (9.50), and the Stir Fried Green Beans in Spicy Garlic Sauce (7.95). Each dish was delightfully seasoned with their own individual spice level. The pakora was fried perfectly: crunchy exterior, moist juicy interior and spicy/tangy with the yogurt dip. The hot and sour soup was well balanced between the sour and savory, with the spice level at a medium. The dry chili fish was again very crispy and the dried chili/onion mixture was really got. Eat around that and the the fish it is at a mild level. The green beans were crunchy and sweet. Definitely the hottest dish was the hakka noodles, so spicy that it made my mouth numb!

Tried a number of Hakka/Asian places around this area and I keep going back to Golden Asian Cuisine because it has the best quality/price. Can't beat their lunch specials which include a spring roll and a drink. The meals come out fresh and quick.

Lee is the one restaurant I look forward to every Summerlicious…read more One reason is that every year they create a completely new menu instead of reusing dishes from their regular menu. As an Asian fusion restaurant, I always come curious to see what new ideas the chef has come up with. The last two Summerlicious menus disappointed me a little--they felt a bit uninspired, with dishes like the vegetable curry and croquette. This year, however, the creativity is back, and I'd happily recommend Lee's Summerlicious menu again. Fried Wild Cod The crispy cod is served in an edible crispy rice basket, making it feel like sharing bread at the start of the meal. The fish is fried perfectly with a crisp exterior and moist, flaky interior. Paired with Thai sweet chili sauce, it's light, flavorful, and great for sharing. Gazpacho Picante A refreshing take on gazpacho. The avocado gives it a smoother texture, while the hint of spice adds another layer without overpowering the chilled tomato soup. Refreshing and a great appetizer. BBQ Jerk Pork Ribs Three generous ribs--almost a main course on their own. The meat is tender while still retaining a bit of bite, similar to the texture of slow-cooked jerk chicken. The jerk seasoning is excellent, coating every bite with rich, aromatic spices. Pan Roasted Salmon The salmon is beautifully cooked with a nicely caramelized exterior while remaining juicy inside. Each accompaniment brings something different: the olive tapenade is deeply savory, the parsnip purée is smooth and slightly sweet, the lima bean adds a creamy, nutty richness, and the lemon-tomato-pepper vinaigrette brightens everything with acidity and a gentle kick. Lima Bean Succotash Probably the prettiest dish on the menu--and also the most unusual. The lima beans and peas are cooked until tender without becoming mushy. The flavors are layered, but there's a subtle bitterness throughout. After asking the chef, we learned it's the natural flavor of lima beans and was intentionally preserved as part of the dish. Fried Organic Chicken The fried chicken is juicy and tender, reminding me of Japanese karaage. It comes with two fun sauces: one is rich and spicy with a hint of coconut, while the other is a sweet pineapple-lime mayo that pairs surprisingly well with the chicken. The pandan rice, however, was fairly ordinary. The desserts are still classic Lee--beautifully plated, but the flavors are more restrained. We tried the Rhubarb Almond Frangipane Tart, Lemon Mousse Panna Cotta (our favorite), and Strawberry Raspberry Monkey Bread. This year's Summerlicious reminded me why I fell in love with Lee in the first place.

I also highly recommend the wine paring they suggest having with the salad :) Everything else on the menu was done really well. The cheeseburger spring roll was quite unique, Indo think there could've been more texturally inside the actual spring roll, it was all mush in there. Very nice ambiance, service were very attentive, I had a great time and will be back to try more items :)

There are different locations throughout the GTA, serving the exact same menu and concept. Service is fast and efficient. You order on your phone by scanning the QR code on the table. Food comes out within ~5 minutes - very fast! The menu is quite extensive. They have a wide variety of teppanyaki rice sets available, as well as noodles, mini hot pot (including individual servings), and various drinks and Asian desserts. I love that you can customize each dish by adding the add-ons (additional ingredients). You can even "build your own teppanyaki set" by choosing the carbs, sauce, protein(s), and add-ons (including vegetables). We only tried the teppanyaki rice sets this time around. The Sizzling Japanese-Style Assorted Vegetables consisted of cabbage, green pepper, zucchini, mushrooms, and corn. This was listed under "snacks" category, and we thought it would be a good veggie dish accompaniment to the other main dishes. I found it to be very salty and saucy. It had an aftertaste that I didn't really like. The pieces of green pepper, zucchini, and mushrooms were very small, that you could barely taste them. It was mostly white cabbage shreds and corn. The 3 teppanyaki rice sets (including one deluxe set) were good. The Jumbo Unagi Teppanyaki Rice was one of my favourites - the unagi there was "jumbo" indeed (biggest and longest I had ever seen that was served with a rice set in a restaurant). I liked that it wasn't doused with too much unagi sauce wich tends to be sweet and sticky. There was a good amount of meat in the unagi as well. Salmon & Shrimps Teppanyaki Rice Set and Seafood Rice Set (salmon, scallops, shrimps) were also decent. The Seafood Rice Set (considered a deluxe menu item) had a bigger and better salmon compared to the thin salmon slices in the Salmon & Shrimps Teppanyaki Rice Set. The shrimps and scallops were pretty good (there were more shrimps than scallops). All dishes came with corn and green onion, and you can choose to add extra add-ons such as cabbage, green pepper, zucchini, mushrooms, garlic bits, extra protein, etc. As garlic lovers, we added extra garlic bits to every teppanyaki set that we ordered. Overall, good food and fast service. I wish the Sizzling Japanese-Style Assorted Vegetables dish wasn't so salty, and came with more / bigger pieces of the actual vegetables rather than just mostly corn. But the other teppanyaki rice sets were good value.

This is the American-Japanese izakaya at its most considered: a place where the concept feels genuinely inhabited rather than merely adopted. The room is intimate and unhurried, possessed of the kind of mood lighting that flatters both the food and the conversation. The atmosphere skews decidedly hipster in the best sense -- effortlessly cool without tipping into affectation. Noise levels remain convivial rather than oppressive, making it well-suited to a romantic evening or an occasion where one actually wishes to be heard. The menu is deliberately compact, a restraint that signals focus. Signatures such as the Dyno Wings, Salmon Aburi, and Hamachi Tartare reveal a kitchen fluent in the language of Japanese flavour while unafraid to let an American sensibility -- bold, satisfying, approachable -- guide the hand. Small plates arrive with the casual ease of izakaya tradition, inviting grazing and sharing in equal measure. The bar program is a particular strength; the cocktails are handled with genuine care and merit serious attention.
