A truthful honest detailed review with Tony and the price for a haircut. My usual hair stylist moved to a different state, therefore, I'm looking for someone new. I found Tony through Yelp. My experience with Tony is that he only takes clients through making an appointment. When I asked for the price, he gave me a vague answer of "it's just like any other price" in Mandarin. I assumed it was $18 since the storefront said reopening price for women was $18. So I agreed to make an appointment in the afternoon (I had walked in to get a quote in the morning). I came back and he asked me what kind of cut/style I wanted, and he said an optional washing is included. I showed him pictures of my previous haircut and asked if he could trim 1 inch, and cut my long fringes back to short side fringes. The overall cut was similar to my previous hair stylist's, and he did make sure the client is happy with the cut. But when I asked for the price after the cut, he said it's $45. (No one on Yelp has listed his quote). I was very surprised. I truly wish he could have directly told me instead of "it's like any other salon price" from the beginning. Anyway, for future Yelpers, the price for a woman's hair cut (as of June 7, 2021) is $45, and trimming the fringe is $15. First of all..I would like to say that I never go to any random hair salons or stylists. However, because my ex coworker went to her last year and gave good reviews, I decided to give Jay a try this year. Jay responded quickly to my text messages and we scheduled an appt. Prior to scheduling an appt, I showed her the color of my hair and a photo of the color I desired. I went in to the salon expecting to get similar hair color results; however, my hair looked NOTHING like the photo I showed Jay. I have dark hair in general as an Asian American and so the color I showed Jay was also along the lines of a dark balayage. She ASSURED me that she would only use natural highlights and no bleach as she does not want to damage my hair. During my salon session, we discussed the color before moving forward. The color she promised was a dark warm/cool tone. The results were stripy orange highlights on my roots plus messy random yellow, and orange on the ends of my hair. She also did not ensure that the dye was even as I had uneven dye (see photos below). When I saw the color at the salon, I told her the color was way too light as I wanted a dark color. She even confirmed that it would be dark. She JOKINGLY said "I been in this business 23 years don't complain okayyy" in her Korean accent. First of all, I'M THE CUSTOMER so don't tell me what I like and don't like, or to not complain. Second of all, the color is disgusting and too light for my pale asian skin. Third of all, if you have 23 years of professional experience, then you should understand what your customer wants and agree with your customer AND FIX THE HAIR RIGHT AWAY. After I left the salon and arrived home, I took photos of my hair and sent messages to Jay. She didn't respond all night and after many text messages from me that same night and the day after, she finally responded and said "I will fix for you let me know what day". I told her the day and she still did not respond. How will I entrust my hair to her AGAIN when she's so bad at responding to my messages and when she will MOST LIKELY mess my hair up again even after "fixing" it?? I decided to go elsewhere as I was desperate. My hair become so dry due to the fact that she used bleach AND natural highlights (hence the orange highlighter stripes on my root. I was so embarrassed to go out as it was the weekend so I decided to stay home. If you are a light colored Asian, DO NOT GO TO JAY. She sucks and will do whatever color SHE thinks will look good on you without taking into regard your opinions. What a waste of money and time. Never again. read more

First time dyeing my hair and I couldn't be happier! Tony did my hair amazingly. I just wanted a couple of highlights since I was bored of my old hair and he did it better than I had imagined! My dark brown hair is no longer boring with these golden highlights! Plus I had my hair washed and conditioned. His assistant was super nice and made sure the water temperature was okay. I also got my split ends cut to the perfect length. Usually they either cut too much or too little, but I was so content with the result. My hair feels much healthier. I feel so great thanks to Tony! He's so kind and offered me tea while he was doing my hair. Couldn't have asked for a better hair stylist! Tammy is the worst! she totally messed up my hair. it looks HORRIBLE NOW! i asked her to trim 2 inches!! i don't even know how to describe what she did. it's so uneven, it's so short, it's so ugly! it's the worst hair cut i've ever had. NOT WHAT I WANTED. Plain and simple. So many things went wrong with this salon I felt I had to write a review even though I usually dont. $250 WASTED. 1. She under quoted me the price even though I told her exactly how long my hair is. When she saw me she told me my hair was really long and that itd be more by $30. I paid $250 for perm and dye. Which is reasonable it's just annoying to be lied to. 2. I came in and she just started without ever asking me how I wanted my hair to look. I had to stop her to tell her I wanted bangs. She then proceeds to cut my bangs CROOKED. I had to go home later and fix those bangs myself. 3. after the cut she went straight in to the perm. I thought perhaps she remembered what I wanted from when I scheduled my apt? ...I was fucking wrong and I need to learn how to stand up for myself more . I wanted big curls and I got little ones. It looks exactly like my last perm. This time I wanted to do the digital perm with costs $30 more bc I could accomplish those large curls i wanted.....well that didnt happen. 4. Then she tells me we cant do the color today because itll damage my hair too much when I specifically asked that question when I made the apt. Im very busy and needed to make the time to do this apt...and guess what I have to come back. I understand its for the health of my hair but please be conscious that people dont have all the time in the world and lie to them like that! Like it makes me feel like she overbooked and lied to me?? Idk im just bitching. 5. I come back in for the dye 2 weeks later (bc that was the next time I would have the time). It seems like she had forgotten about me (I paid for the whole thing when I got my perm) She rushed me in again. This time I showed her a photo of the color I wanted and we proceed in to this long attempt at communicating why she couldnt do that color for me...that it would damage my hair and cost more. So FUCK IT. OK Fine....but then my hair comes out pretty much the same?! What did I pay for? You to touch up my roots??? 6. Service SUCKED. My head was itching like a MOFO from the dye which didnt happen to me at the last place I had my hair dyed. She man handled my hair by tugging and pulling while brushing (ok..my hair is tangled BUT I have never had such a poor job brushing before!! It felt like she was pulling my hair out) The wash SUCKED. The wash is usually the best part. She man handled me again!! With my hair and my head! As she washed my hair she'd push the side of my head in to the sink and it hurt! I almost never have a good haircut at this salon. They work briskly but never put any effort into cutting hair the way you want. They always make my hair look ugly and uneven. I go still because they are nearby and very affordable. The staff is very very friendly and easy to talk to and there is rarely a wait because of how many barbers are on hand at any time. The only problem is that they can't cut hair. I am a guy and almost all the barbers are women so it's almost excusable. But I sat next to a woman getting her haircut for what seemed like her first time at the shop and she was ready to cry because of how poorly her hair turned out. I wish the employees the best because they're a lovely group of people but they really need to slow down and put a lot more care into their craft. I'd rather have my hair cut by someone unschooled that spends the time to get things right than someone trained and careless. read more

This place is great for a cheap good looking haircut. A shampoo and cut is only $18. I recommend asking for Hong or Martha. They are super sweet ladies and really listen to what I tell them. Not only that, they even give you tips on how to maintain and care for your new hairstyle. I walked into the salon with my 1 and 2 year old. Took us in right away! My one year old was screaming and crying, and our stylist (Sharon) was so calm throughout the process.
