Whenever passing through Giddings on our way back to Austin, we'll make a stop at this Golden Chick, usually going through the drive-thru. Food is normally VERY fresh & hot. And the staff are always polite (thanks for this)! I have never had any complaints w/ this location & my belly is always happy & full when we make it back home! :)) However, on our most recent visit to this location, we went inside to eat versus going through the drive-thru & our food wasn't fresh, like it usually is. You could tell that the chicken had been sitting under a warmer instead of just being freshly prepared/cooked and the French fries were the same. I'm sure it being a few days before the Thanksgiving holiday & business being a little slower this week definitely had something to do w/ it. Even though, this location is usually always on point w/ the food & customer service, I did take a star off this review because this location could be a little more "baby/toddler" friendly. I say this because we had our toddler nephew w/ us during our most recent visit on 11/22/2022 & this location only had 1 highchair for customers to use (could definitely see this being an issue if multiple customers had small kids w/ them or if a customer had more than 1 small child) and this location doesn't have a baby changing table/station in the restrooms so I couldn't change my nephew's pamper inside the restroom after we finished eating & got back on the road. THANKFULLY, I no longer have any little ones to take care of :)) so this type of thing usually doesn't apply to my lifestyle BUT I do feel for those parents/guardians who are still in the trenches ;) & wanted to bring attention to these things in this review. The door says open at 10:00 am. Stood outside while lady took her time to open. Then she proceeded to answer the phone instead of assisting customers in front of her. Didn't even greet us. The one restroom that I found open was men's. No paper towels. Not sure how the employee leaving washed his hands. I do not recommend. Came out of the restroom and still hadn't assisted my son. They have a very good fried chicken sandwich. The last 3 times that I have been there I received the chicken salad sandwich (which is NOT the same thing). Today I tried to make it clear that I wanted the fried chicken sandwich. When they handed me the bag (to go) I asked if it was the "hot" sandwich and was told "yes"...once again I got the chicken salad sandwich. I GIVE UP! read more

I've eaten here a few times my fiancé introduced it to me about a week ago and this is damn near the best chicken place out there. Keep in mind it is a chicken place so that's what they focus on, so it seems that the sides are kinda on the back burner. The mashed potatoes are definitely instant but the gravy makes up for it. Not too thin or too thick. I am a super big fan of fried okra and I was super excited to try theirs for the first time. It was good but it wasn't as crispy as I had hoped. I have had some pretty bad chicken from some places but Golden Chick's chicken is the opposite. It's always hot and crispy. I do recommend this place if you are looking for a good meal. read more

Dropping 2 stars. A much different crew and younger. The younger the workers the lower the quality. This place is still clean in comparison to other fast foods bit the quality of the food dropped tremendously. I ordered both the chicken and the strips and both were flavorless. The strips were fresh but just barely done. This is a much different experience than other visit. Sorry but with this new younger staff in place...I can never return. read more

Stopped in for a snack and to break up the boredom of a long drive. Two 4 piece chicken tender combos with fries and tea filled that bill nicely. Most of this chain usually has good food and today was no exception, chicken was tender and moist and dipping into gravy made our mouths happy. The fries and fried okra were okay. read more

Great food. Fast service. Rude workers. There is never a "hi how are you" or even a "thank you" at the drive thru. It's sad because their chicken is awesome(we love the tenders). And the sweet tea is ALWAYS on point. If only they'd get workers who actually cared about customer service.
