Not sure why but the group I was with and myself had had nothing to eat all day and were out in Hempstead for a football game. I really have never gone to Dairy Queen for food only ice cream but the women I was with had certain items they enjoyed so since it was open (and many were not at this time of the evening)-we decided to drop in and grab a bite to eat. Everything was very clean. The young lady at the cash register had only been working there a very few days, but she was doing her best to do a good job which we appreciated. It was also nice to see other employees stepping in to help if she needed it. We were very scattered with our order so that made it difficult for her. Once we finished ordering, I was thinking we would sit down and they would call us for our food but within five minutes of ordering there, it was coming out of the kitchen so I had just gotten it paid for and we were taking it back to the dining area. I had a taco salad. It was small in comparison to other taco salads I've had but it contained all the essential ingredients. They forgot the salsa, but that was OK. The only issue I had with it was the bowl/taco shell tasted like stale oil. Not sure if you've ever had a hard shell with a funny taste, but that's what I would compare it to one of the ladies had three tacos and some cheese bites and she said hers was good. That was her standard go to the other lady had a crispy chicken salad with ranch dressing. She said it was very good and it looked good. All in all, I would say this was a successful trip for what we were after. We were all thinking we were starving ....Dairy Queen fit the bill. read more

At this point, it really doesn't matter what you order because it's always gonna be a mystery meal. I ordered a double meat bacon cheeseburger But only received one patty while still getting charged for the double meat. I ordered a caramel malt milkshake, and they did not blend it at all seeing as how there are massive chunks of malt powder in my shake. My roommate ordered steak fingers and receive chicken tenders. What is gods name did I just witness. The manager was this old woman who created a toxic environment by yelling at all the staff super loud so everyone in the building could hear. The poor kid who was taking orders at the front looked like his moral had been beaten so low from enduring whatever oppressive environment he had to work in. He was trying to fulfill my request of getting extra sauce from the kitchen, but the manager ignored him for about 10 minutes, making me wait 10 minutes for a ranch. This is the second time that I have ordered from this store through door dash, and both times my order was incorrect. You say it's the dasher's fault, but you can't blame them because they can't open the bag. It's the fault of your expeditor. Today I only received half my order and it could not have been any simpler. Two of the three pack tacos and two of the jalitos. Is it really that difficult to accomplish this? Stopped in for a milk shake on way back home. Seating area was clean, restrooms were clean, service was a bit slow but it was 30 min to closing. My daughter got a cotton Candy blizzard she said was great. I tried it and if you like Candy, sugar, and milk mixed together than that is for you. I got a peanut butter milk shake. It was too thick to drink like a milkshake it was more like a blizzard and it had butterfinger Candy in it. I did not order a Butterfinger blizzard but it appears that is what I got. Can't zip (or, um, drive 30mph) through Giddings, Texas without a stop at DQ for a cold treat. I snagged one of their new mocha coffee drinks made with ice cream and was in pure bliss the rest of my drive to Austin. This DQ is pretty clean (and with clean restrooms). It's a dairy queen, it's got delicious amazing blizzards that will make you go mmmmmm! But I was here for a quick lunch. It's a nice place to stop if you're on a long drive or something like that. I was looking for something healthy and light. The grilled turkey sandwich sounded quite nice. I tasted it, and it tasted fairly healthy and light. And then just for kicks I looked up the nutrition facts and it's got 25 grams of fat!!!! Ok, sometimes (when I'm going through phases, I'm in one now) I'm a health freak. 25 grams of fat is a buttload! That's 4 less than a big mac! You deceiving little grilled turkey sandwich you! The only Dairy Queen I have ever been to that has a Happy Hour from 2-5pm everyday, where all the soft drinks are only $.79, no matter what size you get!! They do offer a few add in's like cherry or vanilla, and they do have Limeaids. And of course the Blizzards are next to impossible to resist. I've only used the drive thru, so I can't say anything about the inside. The staff is usually pretty friendly, the only thing I would suggest, is if someone in the drive thru places a large order, there is an area where they could pull up and wait, which they seldom have them do. I've had the luck of swinging through the drive thru to grab a quick soda, only to have four other cars stack up behind me while we wait for a large order to be filled while the car waits at the window for some massive order, rather than having them pull forward. (Oh, there is big pothole in the drive thru they REALLY need to fix, watch it if you use the drive thru) I hope they never stop the Happy Hour and wish more Dairy Queen's offered this! read more

I wish our scout troop would agree to eat at a different restaurant on our way back from outings as I believe we covered over half of the Dairy Queens in the state of Texas. I get it. It's fairly cheap, fairly quick and the kids like the ice cream desserts. BUT. With Dairy Queen it is always ok to bad in regards to service and food. With this particular location, the burger was really over cooked and barely warm when I received it. They didn't get the order quite right, did correct it, but a burger (with no deviations from the menu) and fries should be pretty hard to screw up. However, they switched cashiers & the second cashier brought the food since I had to pull up & wait for the order. When the food arrived there was no ketchup. On our way home after a camping trip we decided to stop at DQ for some blizzards because we don't have one near us. We pulled up behind 3-4 cars, the parking lot was slightly busy but didn't seem to bad. Entire process took over 40 minutes. For blizzards. It took 20 minutes just to place our order. While we were placing our order, the drive thru attendant would just stop responding. I read my order to her, she went silent for about a minute, then when she came back on the speaker she'd only gotten one item in our order correct. We ordered 2 small blizzards and 2 bottles of water, not exactly a large or difficult order. Once our order was placed it took 10 minutes just to get to the window. You can actually see the order placed time and the transaction time on the receipt. At the window The cashier swiped my card and then told us they were resetting the blizzard machine and we'd "have to wait." Didn't apologize and didn't tell us how long of a wait it would be, just closed the window and started taking other orders. 10 minutes later a manager comes to the window and said they were almost done with the machine, and to pull our car forward. When we asked for an actual number estimate on how much longer it would be she snapped and said "10 seconds, pull forward." Absolutely no apology for the inconvenience or how long we've been waiting. Or any kind of compensation for the issue. By the time we finally got our 2 small blizzards the whole ordeal had taken over 40 minutes, start to finish. Then, my strawberry cheesecake blizzard had 1 piece of strawberry it it, and the ice cream tasted sour, so I didn't even finish it. If you're not in a hurry, go for it, it's DQ it's delicious. Where to begin... I ordered a 6 piece steak finger basket. After a few minutes of waiting I hear the fry cook yell "they will have to wait, I am out of fries." no big deal. A few minutes later he yells again "they will have to wait longer, I am out of toast." So when the order is finally complete, the fry cook calls my number and I walk up to the counter. and stand there waiting as the girl and guy behind the counter stand over by the blizzard machine chatting. They finally see me and hand me my meal. As I drive off I think to myself "check the order", sure enough they gave me a 4 piece instead of a 6. So I drive back and go in. The guy that was chatting by the blizzard machine takes my box and hands it to the fry cook to give me the other two pieces. The fry cook at this time has a paper towel wrapped around one hand and blood is showing on the towel. Luckily he got my food out with the unwounded hand. Have visited a few times over the years, usually for the happy hour drink special. When I have eaten here the vegetables are warm like they are stored in plastic boxes on the side not refrigerated adequately, all burgers are also microwaved prior to bagging them which I asked specifically not to be done to mine. The burgers are either stale or seem to take forever to be made and you are allowed 2 packets of ketchup (this is what I was told be an employee 1 for each food item on the menu) When I asked for more I was given 1 packet.. Also the fat dripping from the metal around the open area/window to the grill seems pretty unhygienic and keeps me going back solely for the 79cent Dr Peppers. read more

Horrible food. Horrible service. Ordered from the drive thru. We ordered 1 Hunger Buster junior, 1 peanut buster parfait and 1 chocolate chip cookie dough blizzard. We were asked to pull forward and when the order was brought out we only received 2 of the 3 items we ordered. We told the food runner so she went back in and grabbed the blizzard. The cookie dough in the blizzard was stale and was missing the chocolate fudge sauce. The peanuts on the parfait were also stale. We will never go back to this location.
