Me: I'd like original. I'd like....... Him: Are Mashed potatoes oK for the side? Me: (Dejected) Yes. That is really irritating for old people like me. The kid smelled like he had rescued a victim that was drowning in Axe too. Really strong. I got the Chicken Tenders. They obviously brine their chicken because it was very moist and tender. The overwhelming taste was salt, probably from the brine. It was terribly salty. It was greasy too. 6 napkins to 4 tenders is pretty high. Free Ice cream cones if you eat inside. Not bad for a quick lunch. We both got fried catfish and cole slaw. Fish had a hard thick crust on it. We prefer fish that have been dipped in corn meal both sides and fried. Pretty sure this fish comes in already breaded. Cole slaw was okay. A plus was they have two of my favorite drinks Mug Root Beer and Big Red. Another plus was free soft cone ice cream. We love this place! It has become our "usual Thursday lunch place!" Our favorite is the fried catfish, with mashed potatoes and cole slaw, of course. The fish is cooked to order and takes only seven minutes... perfectly seasoned and fresh. Really, as good as the food are the employees. At every visit the friendly staff make us feel welcome and go out of their way to make sure that everything is first rate! Ok I'm going to give this 5 stars. We've ordered here a few times, the rolls and chicken tenders are awesome... I now order extra rolls cause they are so good. But here is the real reason why the 5 stars. Yesterday we ordered through the drive through and instead of getting the 4 piece, 6 piece and 4 extra rolls we ordered, we got 2x 4 pieces and no extra rolls. I called and spoke to the manager who gave me her name, Linda, who was VERY polite and apologetic. She took my named and receipt info and told me she would get me the items that were missing when I came back. She also asked that I bring in my recipt. So today we came back to get the food (not like it was twisting my arm, their food is really good) and gave my info to the girl at the counter. I forgot my receipt but that wasn't an issue. The girl showed me where Linda wrote down my info and had my WHOLE order replaced, not just what was missing. And she did it with a smile (your really don't see that anymore) and apologized cause we had to wait 5 min for the chicken to finish cooking. To me this is huge, yeah it was a pain cause the order was wrong, but you know what, it takes amazing people to not be rude or Deny you what you paid for. They went above and beyond and so far we've been 3 different times and the food tastes just as amazing each time. read more

This place is so mismanaged it is unbelievable. I have been here 3 times and my order was wrong all 3 times. The guy working the drive thru window looked like he just got out of prison. He was covered in tattoos, including several gang tattoos. He was rude and disrespectful. I told him I did not want any ketchup, tartar sauce or a roll. He told me it would take 7 minutes for the fish to cook and for me to park and they would bring my order to me. I parked as instructed and waited 15 minutes for my food. The guy who brought it to me handed it to me and started to walk away. I asked him to wait while I checked the order. The order had a roll and tartar sauce which I told the thug at the window I didn't want. I handed him the roll and tartar sauce and he walked off. I noticed I only got 4 pieces of fish instead of 5 pieces. I called him to come back to my car and told him they shorted me a piece of fish. He cursed me and walked off. They also failed to include a fork and knife. A business should never treat a customer this way. I will never go back there again. read more

Great spot for a chicken tender combo, tenders are crunchy on the outside yet juicy on the inside. Portions are filling. You can't beat the fries, I think they are the battered variety, and the rolls are to die for! The food is GREAT !!! when they get my order right. of the 4 times I've eaten there, only 2 times did they get it right. One of the RIGHT times, well --- the first time I went I asked for SPICY chicken, which what I got wasn't spicy at all. So the second time I got spicy chicken, they actually PUT the spices on and OMG it about burned my lips off. I eat at Golden Chick restaurants all over Texas as it is my favorite chicken restaurant. This Golden Chick is by far the best one I have ever visited. Their chicken tenders, catfish, and baked chicken are all fantastic They must use a different fryer for each product.. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, very patient while I made up my mind as to what to order. The Franchisee, Tom, visited all the tables, checking to ensure each person was happy with their order...you don't find this level of treatment at most GC. It was not very good. You walk in and you will see piles of chicken sitting under heat lamps. I usually will walk right back out when i see that but i decided to give them a chance. I got the fried chicken meal to go with a side of mac and cheese. The chicken was dried out, barely had any flavor and barely had any meat. The mac and cheese was bland and just tasted of boiled noodles. The best part of the meal was the roll. Also, When I get something to go, or from a drive through, I expect there to be utensils and napkins in the bag. This place reminds me of chicken express which is not a good thing. You know its never a good meal when you are more hungry after you're done eating then when you started. We went, we ordered, we paid, we got refunded and left. The lady taking our order was clearly new and not trained all the way, I honestly felt badly for her. Because of that, ordering took a long time and was a difficult process. We blew that off, went to get our drinks and the tea was out. I asked someone if they could change it and the didn't, just took my cup and filled from the kitchen side, whatever blew it off. Then, they came to us and told us what we ordered would take twenty minutes, we just said that it was fine and we would wait however long it took because that's what we wanted. We just rolled our eyes and blew that off too. When she brought our food out, not all of it was there and she said she couldn't give us another thing we ordered because it would take 20 minutes and they close at 8...it was 7:15 and we said we would wait already...at that point we just wanted a refund and left. Didn't even get an apology. I don't really understand how a food establishment can be ran telling people they can't have multiple things that they ordered, and not even apologize about it. It had been a long time since I had eaten at Golden Chick. The last time I had eaten at Golden Chick was at the one on Highway 10. I used to eat at the golden chick on highway 10 frequently. Recently in the last few years I have become more focused on my health and I stopped eating there. Tom the owner, I have talked to several times in the past. He is very friendly and is concerned about his customers satisfaction.The restaurant is usually very clean and a Family friendly environment. I can tell that Tom takes pride in making his customers happy and goes out of his way to do so. Now to the point of why I'm posting this review. I stop by golden chick to get some chicken tenders a real treat for me now. It was the new one off of precinct line and highway 183. As I was ordering my food I recognized one of the workers from the past at the golden chick on highway 10. I said hello to her in a friendly tone and asked how she was doing. She told me she was doing good in a sarcastic tone and acted like she was surprised to see me there. She told me she was the store manager at this location now. She was very rude and made me feel very unwelcome in there. She referenced a previous experience that I had on Highway 10 with her about the consistency of the food that I was used to. An experience that when i brought it to Tom's attention he immediately knew what I was wanting and graciously accommodated me. I guess the store manager was harboring bitter feelings about the experience well over three years ago and while I was receiving my food, The store manage was mocking me about how picky I am about their food. As I was eating my food the store manager was leaving. She made sure to stop on her way out the door and insult me again. Talking in some kind of code referencing that we were playing some kind of game. I did not get upset with her or be disrespectful to her even though several things came to mind. I did however tell her that I had never been treated like this in a restaurant before. I hope that someday she can let go of her bitterness that she might have towards any of her customers. And I hope someday she will realize that in the business she is in, customers come first and that she shouldn't be taking her frustrations out on the customer. We've ordered food here numerous times, not once has our order been correct. They always forget at least 1 or 2 items from our order. Not sauces but actual food. So despite the food itself being tasty and reasonably priced, it's the service that seriously lacks. My advice is if picking up food have them literally show you the different packs of food before you leave. read more
