Finally got to try the viral Dave's Hot Chicken! I see what the hype is about - I did the medium slider combo with fries and added cheese to my sandwich. I also asked for extra pickles, honey and mixed it in with their dipping sauce. The team at this location was friendly - she was patient with us being our first time! The food came out quick and fresh. The pickles were amazing. My favorite part about my meal would be the portion size of the slider as well as the slaw that comes on the sandwich! I was iffy at first and requested it on the side, but added it back on so quick. I think the least memorable thing about the visit would be the sauce - it didn't seem like anything crazy unique to me. The taste was good; but given that the price is outrageous; it should be much better executed. I ordered the 9.99 slider and fries. Doesnt come with a drink included. I ordered the hot honey option without realizing its a huge upcharge, because thats not listed anywhere on their menu. Dont ask me why hot honey constitutes an additional 5 bucks, but it does. I ordered medium spice; wasnt spicy at all and i do not have a particularly high threshold for spicy like some ppl do; i love it but i dont always handle it well, if that makes sense. So something dropped the ball there. Now to the most disappointing part: the chicken tender they used for my slider was the skinniest chicken strip id ever seen; so majority of the sandwich was eating the sides of the bun that only contained pickles and coleslaw. It was messy and RIDICULOUSLY PRICED for the tiny little skinny chicken strip that was dwarfed by a slider bun at that. This structure of sandwich made it impossible to keep the sandwich together and was super messy. I dont understand why the sliders in commercials and in their advertisements look more similar to a filet of chicken yet what I got was like a mcdonalds chicken strip. Super tiny gone in two bites. If the meat is way smaller than a slider bun; somethings wrong and youre getting ripped off. A better business model would be to just offer a standard size chicken sandwich with a filet and offer chicken strips as a separate option. Or maybe pound out the chicken tenders before frying so they fit the bun better. Something. The fries are of course several dollars extra and theyre ok. Seasoning was good but theyre literally not even handcut fresh in house; which youd think they would be and should be for the price. Literally just a bag of frozen ore ida crinkle cut fries; as generic and low quality you can possibly get from any chain. The flavor of everything was good; but not good enough portion of the chicken or quality of the fries to come anywhere near justifying the outrageous price. For the same amount of money you can get four to five nice normal sized chicken strips and handcut fresh fries at literally any other place that serves it; even sit down restaurants before tips. Daves needs to pull their heads out of their ass cause if they wanna charge what theyre charging; ppl have to see value in some capacity; and theyre falling way short but charging way too much. I'd heard good things and was super excited to give Dave's a try. Wow, what an absolute disappointment. Menu is a tad pricey. Which I'd have no problem with, were the food enjoyable. What I wasn't expecting was for the food to be so bad. I ordered the hot slider with fries. The driver thru worker asked if I'd like Dave's cheese sauce on my slider. I asked, "Would you recommend that?". "Absolutely!", he responded. I take my food and pull off to the side for a quick lunch. First off, there's so much "cheese" on the slider that it is impossible to pick up. I ditch the saturated bun in favor of the knife and fork. Crazy bland, sub 7-11 type "cheese" sauce drips from the sides if an oversized chicken finger. Then it hits you...SALT! Followed by an unpleasant wave of heat. I've been trying chicken joints lately and Dave's is in the top 5 so far. The tenders are a good size and crispy but not the juiciest on the inside. I give the chicken an 8/10. The Reaper seasoning is extremely hot but still has flavor unlike some places who just try to make theirs as hot as possible. Dave's Hot Chicken was absolutely a vibe. As we walked in we were immediately greeted from a friendly and patient young lady. She walked us through the menu and guided us on what would be best to order. Most "chicken joints" have the chicken and grease smell in the air, so much so you are unable to stay in and eat unless you want to smell like that the rest of the day. Here, it did not have n overpowering smell and we were able to eat inside comfortably. I did go to the restroom after eating to wash my hands and they were okay. The restrooms were not sparking clean but they were also not dirty. While Dave's Hot Chicken is a fast food chain, I did expect more. While I will give props to the chicken tenders coming out piping hot, the fries were cold. I got two tenders, one hot and one mild. The chicken itself was extremely tender and juicy. However, it was over seasoned and the breading was not crunchy. All in all, I would go back but I would have to be in the mood for it. I am not sure if it is the location I picked or if this is the standard for all Dave's Hot Chickens but it is a solid place if you have a hankering for some spicy chicken. read more

I have been waiting to try Daves Hot chicken for a while now and my wife finally wanted it as well. My first impression was mixed, Super neat and clean and bright. But I wondered why the chicken place next door was crowded and this place was empty (11:36 lunch) The restrooms were clean, the dining area was spotless The staff upon entering was extremely friendly. The menu board was easy to read as there are only about 4-5 options. The food came out quick and was prepared just right. The chicken was pretty big (two chicken tenders). They (at least mine) was a bit tuff, but they tasted good. VERY hot, and the fries were seasoned great.. the fries rocked! My biggest issue was the price. 2 quick lunches 1 shared drink and the bill was over $28. Just so you know this is not a cheap place to eat. At that price I am not sure we can eat here too often. Came here for a late lunch on the weekend. We were greeted immediately upon entry. The menu was thankful not overwhelming. Our cashier (Alex) was genuinely friendly. Our food came out faster than anticipated. I was pleasantly surprised at how flavorful the food was. The seasoning on everything was perfect. And I like the fact that the chicken is a dry rub and not drenched in a messy sauce. The chicken was juicy. The location was clean. Pretty spacious. Family friendly. Hot- this was my perfect level, perfect amount of spiciness for me but I'm pretty weak Extra Hot- it was very spicy for me but didn't phase my bf. We have one that just opened back home in El Paso with hour wait lines. Been itching to try it and was so happy to find it during our trip to Dallas. No wait when we arrived! Now the staff - awesome! They were very helpful from start to finish and helped us place our order. If you're looking for a saucy hot chicken strip, this ain't it. This is more of a mild, medium or hot seasoning. If loads of paprika is your jam, Dave might be your new bff. My teen wanted to try the extra hot reaper level, but we found out you had to be at least 18 and sign a waiver to try it. Kind of exciting for those up for a challenge. We ended up paying over $80 for 10 chicken strips, fries and a combo. That didn't even include drinks! I will say the chicken strips were massive! One is like the size of 2. A little concerning lol. It tasted like someone who tried hard to master the seasoning, but didn't quite get it right, but should get an A for effort and come back and try again. The raving reviews confuse me. I took my daughters here for a lunch date. We enjoyed the hospitality of the food servers and also the chicken tenders. We ordered the Dave's #1 lite mild with fries for each of us. I loved how juicy and flavorful the food was, my fries were the perfect crisp. My oldest daughter is a hot chicken connoisseur and Dave's is her favorite place to go. It's really ballsy of them to open up right next to a Slim Chickens! I didn't know what heat level to get, so I checked the reviews on here for guidance first. I feel like I'm on a different planet than some of them. I got the number 3, the slider and tender. I know a couple other reviewers complained about the price, but the tender was huge--I couldn't even touch the slider, which was like a full size sandwich. Another person said the sliders were "small"--yeah, maybe if I was in the NFL. It's a lot of food. I was also impressed that the fries were still crunchy by the time we got home--the fries from Slim Chickens are usually soggy by the time we get it home. At first, I didn't like how salty they were, but I found myself reaching for them, so it's more palatable than Bojangles. Someone else complained about grittiness. Wth, that's called seasoning you sea slug. I went straight for hot because I love spice. Damn. This isn't Chick-fil-A hot--it's actually hot! I can at least say my husband has a place he will keep coming back too. Unfortunately, I got turned off by the service and likely wouldn't come back even if I ended up loving it. After some need to go grab some last min needs, for a last min addition to our holiday plans, we saw that Dave's had opened. He grabbed a two tenders with fries, I had him order me the slider with sauce & slaw on the side. I'm not a big slaw person and I tend to get sauce on the side to gauge if I like it before I get something smothered in it. I also ordered a side of Mac & Cheese. My order came out it had sauce on the sandwich, and a side of sauce. An understandable slip. My husband said it and we got a side of sauce, but looking at the receipt and understandable miscommunication from the front to the kitchen. It's busy I get it. I let someone know, and he asked to see my receipt. He said on here it doesn't say sauce on the side, so what do you want us to do. My husband said I ordered sauce and slaw on the side. He was like, well its not on the receipt as that. so you got it as it was ordered based on that. I didn't want to argue, I told my husband you can have it and got up to go sit in the car. I eventually walked back in and grabbed the Mac n Cheese and a few of the fries, and took them back and ate them in the car. The mac n cheese is the the kind that if you let it sit for a little bit, it easily can become cogield mac with liquid cheese. So, while there is a market for it, not for me. The fries are good, but very seasoned for those that are just salt folks, or need to reduce their intake on that. My husband liked the strips and the sandwich. Apparently someone else had come to the table to figure out what happened and my husband explained what happened. Ive sent in 8 of my friends to this store just to see if there was a confusion or if they were pulling a fast one on me. So I went in ordered my food and got ready to pay I know what my total was but they had already added there own tip into it without asking for it like usual, heh didnt think much of it for a simple 5 bucks but again my order was only 16 so why am I gonna tip for taking my order and doing your job when ur not the chef. Apart from that I had all 8 of my friends use my card on whatever they want which came out to be roughly 15-25 bucks each no problem there but they all had the same roughly 3-7 dollar tip on there they didnt leave it was already just on there they didnt know nor was there an option to leave a tip. So Im leaving this review to see if anyone else notices this, im sorry im not cheap but if I cant suggest wether I want to tip or not its kinda like paying taxes on top of taxes or stealing money. I was pretty excited to try Dave's Hot Chicken when I saw the new location to see if it lived up to the hype. I was nervous about the heat level, so I played it safe and got mild tenders. I didn't find them very spicy, more so just seasoned. Next time I will definitely try a level spicier. Nonetheless, the tenders and fries were still good! The fries had plenty of seasoning on them. My brother LOVES Dave's hot, so he insisted we have his birthday dinner here. There were about 15 of us, and when we walked in, a man, who appeared to be either the owner or manager, Jose, helped to let us know we could move any of the tables so that we were most comfortable. He got my brother a free birthday shake, which was delicious. His daughter, Nina, came to our table constantly to check on us, and get us anything we needed. Actually, I thought this place was awful. The chicken is loaded with gritty seasoning. I ordered the medium hot tenders which had no heat at all. Love Dave's!!! I used to get Dave's all the time at their Irving location for lunch while I was working, always wishing for a location close to home and it finally happened. Medium spice slider and tender w/ mac and cheese is my favorite. Tenders are large so be aware when ordering! I can usually go up a spice level if I'm getting just a slider by itself because the slaw cuts through the heat very nicely. Love that they're not stingy with their Dave's sauce.
