My husband & I ate lunch from here today. We ordered the Big & Golden chicken sandwich, and it was sooooo good! I was sad when I finished the last bite. I was taking small bites so it would last longer. The buns is light & airy, chicken fried to perfection and the sauce is the kicker! It has a bite to it, in a very good/yummy way. Went through the drive through, several cars in front of me, and the wait was very short. Food piping hot! Service friendly. Had a side of shrimp and it was very hot/good also. Very impressed. We have lived in the area for 28 yrs and have gotten food from here a handful of times, but after today, we will visit a lot more often. I have had the catfish before and it was super tasty also. Wow!! Just wow!!! So much wrong here last night 8/29/25. Pulled up to the drive-thru at roughly 8:02pm, two cars in front of me. Waited for 7-8 minutes and each drives off, lights are still on and no one around anywhere inside. I drive up to the window...2-3 minutes, no one around. I park to walk in and see a worker on their phone in a booth. Doors are locked, worker gets up and goes to hide in the kitchen, I circle around to the drive-thru again, worker has now gone back to the eating area and sat down, I pull up to the side door by the drive-thru window and it is open, I walk in and ask "is anyone working here"? I find out the worker speaks no English, he runs in the back and knocks on a door where a worker who identifies himself as the manager and another worker have been hiding out, both of them looked shocked that someone is in the restaurant...I think they didn't realize the side door was open and they had decided to just close up shop around 8:00pm and not have to work the last hour the store was open. The manager says oh sorry I'm the only one here working, (as if the other worker just miraculously wasn't there to work), if you'll go back to the drive thru I'll help you. As I walk out he tells the non English speaking worker "No Bueno". By now it is around 8:25pm, four other cars are in line and waiting as well. What a joke, lazy is an understatement, why have staff that speak no English?, Why were the manager and the only other worker there besides the non-English speaking employee in a locked room together? Why did no one have a headset on to listen to the drive-thru? Why were the doors all locked during business hours? etc..etc.. Every time I stop at a Golden Chick I remind myself why I say never again...it's always something with this brand and the customer service, on top of the invisible employees they didn't have half the food on the menu available, and made no attempt to cook because it would take 15-20 minutes to make chicken. The understaffing excuse sounds like a managerial issue that needs to be addressed, closing early just to leave at 9:00pm when the doors have hours until 10:00pm, no chicken cooked to fill orders, and a general lack of care for customer service. SMH...just avoid this place if you have other options. read more

Drive-through only during the pandemic. I love fried chicken, Golden chick does not disappoint me at all. The chicken is definitely brined, giving the chicken flavor and tenderness no matter if it's the chicken breast or the thigh, it's tender and juicy - very tasty. The breading is light and flaky fried golden brown. This trip I got the 15 piece mix and dinner rolls. I do like their macaroni and cheese, but I had already made sides for this delicious chicken. I don't typically bother writing reviews on fast food chains. That's particularly true of those I rarely frequent, such as Golden Chick. My few prior stops have been remarkable only in the consistency with which their food - both chicken and catfish - has been dry, bordering on burnt. So, Chris, why now? Golden Chick just fired a salvo in the chicken sandwich war, shuffling Popeye's out of the top spot. Sidebar: By and large, I dislike chicken sandwiches. For me the meat, sauce and bread is generally a bland, one-note handful of nothing. When I do order one, I have to get the spicy version just so there will be some flavor. That's why you see them putting pickles on all these to give them a bit of contrast. And you never, ever, add cheese. If Golden Chick's Big 'n Golden chicken sandwich were the only thing I'd had, I'd probably go 4.5 stars. It comes with a nice not overly thick piece of fried chicken breast. The crust could have been a bit crunchier, but it was tender, moist and nicely seasoned. There were enough pickles that you got some in every bite. The "Lotta Zing" sauce is milder than the name implies, but it's slight heat really complimented things. Where GC really hit the mark was the yeast roll bun. It brings a pillowy sweetness without going all Hawaiian Roll on you. So give the Big 'n Golden a shot. My trepidation is always that the one you buy will be dry or the bun will be stale. That's the danger of fast food chicken. But the one I've had topped all the rest. read more

Tried their chicken strips for the first time tonight, very good. The breading is very crispy and crunchy yet not too thick. They are not as moist as Raising Cane's, but somehow are more tender. Seasoning is not as heavy as KFC, but it still provides enough flavor. And they were not one bit greasy. But, just when I thought I had a new favorite fast food strip joint, I met the workers. When we got here that we were notified that there is no diet Dr Pepper and not the free ice cream cone machine was broken as well. The rolls were not hot. I asked the girl at the front if the door was locked or if someone was in there since i needed to use the bathroom. They said they dont have public bathrooms. Went to your location in Oklahoma City on 12320 N MacArthur. Just want to tell you that those people there are terrible! My fiancé went inside to order our food - he doesn't do drive through - stood there with another guy for more than 10 minutes to order, and no one even acknowledged his or the other guys' presence. Only one car in the drive-through, and lots of chicken already cooked that he could see. The employees knew he was there, but no one even cared. Very poor way to do business. We hadn't tried this location for a couple of years and things here are so much better now. We always dine in and have tried the roasted and fried chicken as well as the catfish.
