New to the area I like to try all the local restaurants. In June I ordered finding the food very good until I spotted what looked like small bugs in the fried rice. I didn't want to believe my eyes so I didn't eat the rice but did eat the rest. One month later my son and I ordered again. The food was good until I spotted a toasted roach. It had wings and legs so there was no mistaking it. I liked the food but draw the line. The kitchen has no lights and looks very dirty. I wanted to believe it wasn't true but sadly both times had bugs. Just sickening. read more

Typical american chinese food. If you find yourself in Adam's, WI and craving something other than a burger, Golden City is a good option. While the food is not comparable to what you find in a large city, it is still great option. The first time I went into this restaurant , about 2 years ago, I thought it looked rather dirty. It is not dirty, it is just old. As soon as the pandemic started I stopped eating at restaurants. A co-worker had picked up lunch here a few times soon after the pandemic started, but after the "safer at home" order ended, and was impressed with precautions that the owners took to ensure they were operating safely that he video taped it and showed it to me. They have continued those safety precautions throughout the pandemic and I feel very safe picking up takeout. This restaurant has also become my go to place when I am looking for a healthier option. My favorite item to order is beef broccoli made without oil. Many american chinese takeout restaurants won't make that accommodation, stating "no substitutions" and will refer me to the "Diet Menu." First time trying this place. Outside is rough, inside is , well like a plastic bubble. Ordered a simple chicken fried rice , no veggies. Bland, rubber chicken, took a few bites and threw it away. No good !!!!! read more

Owner was very rude. Food was not good and they are definitely cool side drinking branch covidians. Walking in there is so much Saran Wrap everywhere it would make the boy in the bubble blush. read more

Friend and I stopped in for dinner before a show. We were interested in their little garden outside. Typical expansive menu for a Chinese restaurant, lots of variety. Ordered the Hunan chicken and the chicken with garlic sauce (both listed as spicy), very nice. Wouldn't call them spicy but they were very good. Nice ratio of meat to tasty veggies. The egg roll was somewhat bland and we didn't receive any sauces to dip it in. Very Covid conscious, no dining inside yet. I think with some updating outside and inside it would draw in more customers but I understand the expense and after just coming through the pandemic, it will take a long time to recoup their food cost expenses. I now will have no qualms about coming here again to eat. I live over 40 mins away, so I'm looking forward to being able to eat inside, it is soon going to be too cold to eat at a picnic table in the park. read more

This was our first visit so we only ordered Wonton Egg Drop Soup. The broth was nice and thick with plenty of egg. However there was little or no meat in the wontons. Very disappointed. read more

Tried this for the first time today, and I was actually really impressed! I got myself the General Tso's Lunch Special, and the first thing that impressed me was the price. For a little over $5, you get quite a few pieces of General Tso's chicken, and an absolute TON of rice. I was surprised by the weight of the brown bag they sent me with. The taste, however, is another story. And thankfully, it's a good story. Very tender chicken combined with very soft, flavorful rice was a delightful treat. Also, all of this, done in less than 10 minutes? I'll be happy to stop in again soon. The only thing that I took a star away for was the condition of the building. It's a little shabby inside, and I probably wouldn't eat inside of the building unless they gave it a little TLC. However, the quality of the food, and the cheerfulness of the employees definitely made up for it. No doubt that I would stop by here again for another delicious lunch special. read more

Excellent authentic Chinese food! Pretty reasonably priced, considering you get heaps of food!! The place is a little on the grimey side, but the food is great and makes up for it! Whether I need some serious comfort food, or after a long night of heavy drinking, this is my all time favorite place to go in this small town. read more

I really like this place and is easily my favorite in the Adams area. The Mapo Tofu is probably my favorite version of this dish, even out of places in Madison. The appetizers are great. Prices are fair. BE AWARE as of writing this, they do NOT accept credit cards. It catches me off guard still from time to time as I find myself driving across the street to an ATM. This is a good place for takeout. The egg foo young is filled with vegetables and your choice of meat. The soups are filling and good. Order anything off the menu and it is filled with a good amount of vegetables and meat. The sweet and sour only has the breaded shrimp, chicken or pork, but that is how it is made from their home region. There is always 8 shrimp in my order and you can always ask for additions. read more

We ordered sweet & sour chicken, shrimp with broccoli, spring rolls & vegetable fried rice. There were only 3 small shrimp in the order which was over cooked & mushy. In addition the sweet & sour chicken did not have any sauce, pineapple or green peppers & was basically breaded fried chicken. They didn't include the white rice either. When we called to complain about the chicken the woman stated that we needed to tell her that we wanted the sauce & everything else. Hubby said then why is it called sweet & sour chicken if it's only breaded chicken. (At this point we hadn't realized that there were only 3 pieces of shrimp). The woman's accent of course got thicker as the conversation went on but they've owned this restaurant for years & if you have a complaint they make it seem like there is a language barrier. If you have a business in the USA then you need to know English in order to make American money. I'm not a racist & I am a minority so this ticks me off even more. Just a reminder of why it's been over a year since we've ordered from them. Won't do it again & will post on social media. They also failed to give us our receipt. read more
