On my way from Chicago to NW Minnesota. Stopped at this restaurant after seeing their billboard along I-90. Surprisingly, the food was good for a buffet. Many selections of chicken and hunan beef. The only chinese buffet where I don't see pork in the buffet. Definitely one of good buffet. The lunch during the holiday (probably considered as dinner) is $14.99.

Really good food! Not a lot to choose from but very very good!

Great eating place, all the normal favorites and a really great staff! Quick to refill drinks and really fast! Fresh food even at 3 pm, really good.

Been here several times and the food and service is usually very good. I find that If I stop at off peak times, between normal meal times, the food on the buffet seems to sit and not be as good as when the restaurant is busy.. they serve Pepsi products and a pretty good selection of beers.

This is our favorite Chinese places around. Always good service always good food. Just a little sad this last time they didnt have the green beans out. Still would recommend anytime.

    Dining room.

Good food and good varieties. Too bad they couldn't get our drinks right, otherwise than that, I'd go again.

When we walked in, a waitress and hostess where sitting at a table and cutting the tips off of a crate of fresh green beans (I took that as a good sign that the vegetables where fresh). I started with an egg role, a crab Rangoon and a cup of hot and sour soup and a cream cheese stuffed mushroom. The egg roll was good, with a crispy outside and flavorful inside. The crab Rangoon was very good. The mushroom was ok, but a little watery for my taste. I am a huge fan of hot and sour soup, but most restaurants leave me a little flat. The hot and sour soup here would rate with some of my favorites! My daughter also loved it and got two bowls. I then moved to the main courses. The fried rice was ok, but not great. My daughter liked the noodle. We both had a number of the chicken dishes and they were great. I had some port, seafood and vegetable dishes and everything was prepared well and tasty. We both went back for seconds. I finished off with some bandana pudding, which was obviously made from scratch. They had a number of items for desert including ice-cream. I would definitely go back the next time we are up in the dells area.

The veg egg roll ($4) wasn't bad with a good wrapper and non-mushy filling. The sauteed green beans ($9.25) (vegan by default) depressed me as it consisted of frozen green beans turned chewy in a flavorless sauce. The vegetable chow mei fun ($9.75) (vegan by default) consists of thin rice noodles in salty seasoning. I'm assuming it was MSG (which doesn't bother me), but the dish won't wow you and it might turn you off. The beancurd w/mushroom & bamboo ($10.75) is the only substantial vegan tofu dish and here it's a mix of vegetables and tofu in a gloopy brown sauce. While not amazing, it wasn't terrible. I also ordered a vegetable gyoza, but they forgot to give that to me, and it wasn't worth it to complain once I figured it out. La Crosse doesn't have a ton of Chinese spots other than stripmall buffet spots. Great Wall is a couple blocks away and, while I didn't try it, it seems popular and the food looks decent based on its pictures.

During a long road trip, I chose to stop in New Lisbon because... well... who knows? I just did. Real Taste Garden was within walking distance to my hotel, so I chose to dine there. Despite being a Chinese person who grew up spoiled on some of the best authentic Chinese dishes anywhere, both in Beijing, and in New Beijing (Duluth, GA), I also really like takeout Americanized Chinese food. Yes, it's junk food. Yes, the caloric and macronutrient content are somewhat deplorable. Maybe I eat garbage because I am garbage, okay? *ehem* anyways, I went and ordered General Tso's Chicken. As an added surprise, Real Taste Garden allows you to choose from an eggroll or two crab rangoons with your combo dishes. The portions were absolutely massive. The flavors were all there. This is quintessential Americanized Chinese takeout. My back is big. My stomach was full. I was incredibly happy. Service? Ambiance? Honestly, you're barking up the wrong tree if you want either of those. The absolute best Chinese takeout places have grumpy unfriendly people working, a kid doing homework at a table, no air conditioning, and the faint smell of sewage. Fortunately, we're not in NYC, so that last thing doesn't apply. I also don't think I saw a kid doing homework, but that's probably because it's the summer. I've had bad Chinese takeout. Those places exist. Most Chinese takeout places are pretty good. Trust me when I say that Real Taste Garden is better than it has any right being. Besides, tell me where else are you actually going to eat in New Lisbon after driving 4 hours?

The food itself isn't bad - I actually quite liked a lot of the flavors of the dishes I got. I think what truly brings this review down is the poor service I get. There aren't usually many people here, but service is always at a crawling pace - it takes forever to even get a water, and then a second eternity to place an order. Dim Sum is also renowned for its cart service - but I suppose only busier places have this luxury. Nani only has a paper menu that you can order from straight from the kitchen - by no means a poor experience, but a far cry from the true dim sum experience. Again, the food is actually quite nice, but the lack of quality service, somewhat empty atmosphere, and no cart service makes this place a far cry from a real dim sum experience.
