In a former Ryan's this Golden Corral offered nothing on a recent dinner visit to recommend it over its previous competitor, nor even over its other GC brethren. Between 6 and 7pm on a Tuesday food trays were empty or severely diminished, menu items that didn't turn quickly became unappetizing and old, utensils were missing from pots, a meat carver was absent while patrons waited, food counters went untidied, an annoying alarm was allowed to sound for several minutes, and dining room personnel were unavailable for refilling empty glasses and removing used dishes. Also annoying: Many food items were unlabeled. Granted, most GC items--such as chicken, corn, and green beans--are self evident. When it comes to desserts, though, it would be helpful to know what is sugar-free and what isn't. Perhaps earlier restaurant traffic overwhelmed personnel. Between 6-7, though, business was steady but not to the extent indicated by the condition of the food and dining room. read more

The food was bland, and cold, the food that did have a taste, tasted disgusting, and the Mac and cheese specifically tasted like soap.The lettuce was wilted and you could tell they haven't changed it in hours. This site says to select your rating. They do not deserve a rating!!!!!.. Even 1 star does not qualify! I have been a Golden Coral patron for many years in many different places. Last night was the 1st and last time I will go to this one in Cape Girardeau MO. The salad bar was lacking produce. The food bar was horrible at best. NOTHING was labeled! Had NO IDEA what was what. What was the fowl? Chicken or turkey? It was shredded so no way to tell what it was. Mashed potatos were crunchy! Gravy was so thick , could not get any! What kind of meats were on the food bar? NO LABELS so had no idea what was what! Nobody was at the steak grill so could not get a steak! And they look extremely well done, but could not tell for sure since they were in a pile! The ham was like chewing leather! AT the desert bar, what a joke! Chocolate chip cookies the size of a vanilla wafer were crunchy and burnt under the SUGAR cookie label, Sugar cookies were under the Oatmeal Raisin label! Some kind of Pudding was under the Strawberry cake label! The ice cream machine was not labeled what spout was what, but it was easy to tell because of the filth under each spout! No wait staff. Was looking for a breakfast Buffet yesterday and decided to hit the Golden Corral have not been there in a while overall not a bad choice as they have a pretty good selection of foods. A few things I would suggest was cooking the bacon better to start. It looked like they took a handful of bacon and threw it in the deep fryer as it was all stuck together like in a clump (burned on one end and not done on the other end) and did I mention it was super greasy? Not much on presentation and you have to pull it apart if you want any as everything was stuck together? Kinda sad in a way poor presentation on their part definitely recommend to grab some paper napkins and dab that grease off unless you like heartburn or the runs. Also the mushrooms and fried potatoes looked like they were sitting in a pool of grease as well what's up with that? This in my opinion is what gives GC a bad rap. Little for thought to make it more presentable so much for management? What I thought was strange they also had no toast? So if you wanted toast I guess you were out of luck unless you grabbed some french texas toast? Also what's up with no spoon as you know you are going to need one for your coffee or spooning off the grease out of your plate..(lol) I guess you had to ask for one which I thought was weird? Overall not a bad meal just a few quarks that could be addressed to make it a better place to dine. What I found interesting is you never see kids in this place just the older crowd which is fine with me less noise. They had fried chicken and pizza as well as deserts and a fruit and nice salad bar for breakfast. So, little bit of variety for everyone which is nice. I liked the link and patty sausages, saw mill peppered or sausage gravy and biscuits (could provide a better biscuit in my opinion) fried potatoes, (no grits) as well as you can get your eggs cooked pretty much as you like which for me was great as I get tired of scramble eggs prefer sunny side up or if you like even a western omelette, coffee, O.J. and water all for $6.86. The other day I got 2 eggs, three pieces of bacon, toast and coffee and it was $12. So I would say this place is a deal if you can overlook a few things. Hey just my opinion take it or leave it. The worst food I have ever eaten. There is no telling how long that food had been sitting there. We tried to make the best of it since we just paid $43 for 2 meals, but there was no salvaging it. If that is the best they can do, they need to close their doors. read more

Went to visit daughter at college and this restaurant a favorite of ours for breakfast when we visit. Went down 1/31/2021 and worst experience we have ever had. Ordered a omelet as I always do and person cooking it put omelet ingredient's in pan and proceeded to cook it on one side only. kept lifting omelet with spatula and draining the egg but only cooked on one side, he than added cheese and folded it in half and added to my plate. Omelet was not cooked on the inside. When i pointed it out he said this was normal. My daughter got one the same way. I ate half of it and pointed it out to waitress who didn't seem surprised but offered to have someone make me a new one. Food bar was not stocked well and coffee tasted like 3 day old truck stop coffee. Only decent part was over worked waitress who did her best to keep up. have eaten here many times before without problems but got sick from the meal and my daughter still isn't feeling great. My husband loves this place , but I am just not real impressed. They are heavy in his 4 favorite food groups-salty greasy fatty and fried. Not very diabetic friendly. Also I have vision issues and its not always easy for me to tell what some of the foods are-even if they have signs, I discovered the signs are not always correct. They have very little in the way of low cal/sugar free desserts and they are not identified well. We were there they had cups of jello, a small cake that I assume was sugar free and a pie I assume was sugar free right next to some bannana pudding whtch I am sassuming was not sugarfree-there was no one at the dessert area whom I could ask. read more

Most food looks like it's been sitting out for hours. Brisket was good and tater tots good but that's about it. Custom order steak takes a while and not that good. Not sure that was even sirloin. Worst place to eat I've ever encountered. I complained that there were no more tacos on the buffet, then the owner proceeded to drag the cook outside and beat him to death. Then she ground him up and made tacos out of him. Rude and disgusting! Not to mention completely unsanitary. Never eating there again. read more

Do not eat here if you are concerned about catching Covid-19! Signs are posted everywhere about masks required at buffet but I watched customer after customer get food without a mask. I asked my waiter about it and he said they are suppose to remind people to put them on but are afraid to offend customers since business is slow. We stopped here around noon on a Monday. Many breakfast items were still out, it was as if lunch hadn't started yet. The hash browns and green beans were cold. The chicken leg was dried out. The pork was flavorless. The dessert bar needed to be restocked. I tried the ice cream but it was ice milk not ice cream. Had problems finding the server to refill our drinks. came here from a visit from Washington state, was amazing! all the food was well cooked and tasted fantastic, and for the price u cant beat it. you can get a nicely cooked steak with all kinds of sides for 14.99 all you can eat that would cost probably 20 dollars or more at a steakhouse or restaurant. fast and friendly service as well, will come and eat here again next time I visit! read more

I was out there on Aug 4th, 2018. Granted, the place was busy, but, this was a horrible experience to say the least. The waitress barely came to our table, did not offer silverware as it was out at the counter, and some parents were letting their small children who were obviously under 10, run wild at the buffets. I know the restaurant was not at fault for that, however, the manager (I am assuming this guy was the manager then) was out and walking around the buffet a lot, how did he not see this? on the Salad bar, and the dessert bar, the food was mixed a lot, where they werent keeping up with it, and, there was just a mess everywhere. They also were not stocking the mashed potatoes, and several other common items at all, while we were there just over an hour. The line to get a steak made to order, was blocking the buffet, and people were not very willing to move so that we could get to the items. Perhaps they need to rethink the steak line, to not curve around the buffet there right as you walk in. I will reconsider going back, maybe in the future, if it is not like this, next time. There was a hostess Natalia and a blonde-haired busser, who was more our waitress than anything, and trying to help out. thank you to them! Is there less than a star? Awful Arrived at 12pm, fair crowd. I made a circle around to find a table, 1/3 of area blocked off reserved. Second trip around, entered reserved area with others looking for a seat. Found out quickly, area was closed because it was not cleaned. Went to restroom to wash up, out of soap. Bathroom unclean, looked like being used as a mop closet. Mop buckets, signs, brooms, dustpans all just inside door. Went to buffet, 1/3 of entree area still had old breakfast, stopped for some carved ham. Waited there few minutes, thought grill guy cooking burgers would carve some. After backing up line for about 8 people, moved on without ham, found out others were waiting on ham also, lost cause. Took some new flatbread bbq pizza and some shrimp. Out of several things, including pot roast. Grabbed a baked potato, last one, butter and sour cream. Went back to table to find silverware, no napkins. Hunted down napkins, ended up with paper towel from dispensor at wait station. Started eating, food cold and felt like been there a while. Waitress brought napkins. Eat a few bites of it, decided to try again. Found a guy to carve ham and some cheesy potatoes and fresh shrimp. Out of almost everything else, no pot roast, pizza, baked potatoes, etc. Lots of empty spots. Salad bar a mess. Ate that and decided for some dessert. Most of that gone except for cookies and the choc fountain. Line of people waiting for ice cream, dessert guy gone somewhere. Sit down and waited for refill of dessert bar. Dessert guy shows up, asked for a chocolate pie. Sit back down and waited for a few more minutes. He dished out ice cream and got rid of them, then started putting more cookies out. Had enough and left. Won't be back to this location. First time was a month after opened, horrible service, failure to keep food out to eat. Wrote it off as being new. Went back a few months later and a few time since and same old problems. Waited a couple of months hoping it would be better, but turned even worse. Eat at one in Marion IL and South St Louis with no problems. read more
