It's been about 7 years since we've ate here. Mainly because of the high prices. In fact, we decided to try it out this past Friday on 6/21/24 and we were shocked that there's no more trays to carry your silverware and cups on. Met the manager who happened to be standing there as we paid and he explained to us how everything works now. We enjoyed our food and our waiter kept our drinks filled and plates cleared off. I don't know his name, but he even did a magic trick for our 9 year old son. The only thing I would change about our experience would be more dessert choices like they used to have. The food was good, but they were woefully understaffed. I wonder why they are against Church going people? According to the electronic menu screens, they charge lunch prices on Saturdays from 11am until 4pm. However, they charge dinner prices on Sundays after 11 a.m., which is after Church. It's only a dollar more on Sundays but but if 1000 people eat lunch after church, it's 1000 dollars more they get. Is it discrimination against Christians or just a money grab. read more

After doing business we decided it was time for some breakfast and what better place to go for a variety but Golden Corral Restaurant? No where :) We went in and a very cheery lady greeted us as we got our drinks and paid. Once we were seated and got our plates off to the bar we went! The bar was very clean without food on the side and floor. The attendant for each station was really working diligently to ensure the areas stayed clean. They had everything from eggs, bacon, biscuits, gravy, waffles, ham, sausage, fruit, pancakes, danishes and more. But, that's not all they even had some of the lunch/dinner coming out as well due to the fact it was nearing 11:30! We hit the spot on time! Steak, casseroles, salad bar,taco bar and fixings, desert bar, ice cream station, green beans, corn, peas, and so much more. You can get your fill here and your money's worth. My experience here was by far good our waitress kept our drinks filled and was very professional. Went to the Hickory, NC location today and what a mistake that was. We we're going to eat the salad bar first, but when we looked at the salad bar counter, it had not been wiped clean in a long time, salad lettuce all over the counter, tuna salad smeared on the counter, cheese's spilled all around, cross-contamination with all the salad dressings spilled into each other's buckets. Gross. And this is just to name a few things. I asked Two Managers on duty to please wipe down and clean up the mess, and what do they do, they both go over and pickup pieces of food, and neither one of them wiped down the salad bar. I confronted both of them about not wiping down the salad bar properly. And they both lied and said that they had wiped down the salad bar. I told them both were liars and that I watched what they did and neither one of them wiped down the bar. So I got a refund and won't be back. I suggest you not go there either. read more

This was our first time back in 7 years, The food I was able to consume was good but it was far and few between. Most of it was high carbs or loaded with fat. The dessert had absolutely NO sugar free stuff at all on the bar. Not a good place for a diabetic who is doing their best to follow their diet. Went to Golden Corral today for our usual Saturday Girl's Lunch Out. My little cousin and daughter wanted to go for the new triple yum (milk chocolate, white chocolate, and caramel fountains.) It was by far some of the worst food I've ever eaten at Golden Corral or any other place. I started with the salad bar which was actually pretty good (the salad bar and our server is the only reason I'm giving 2 stars) For my lunch plate i chose a variety of items to taste. The wok section of the buffet was by far the worst. I tried a bite of the mandarin pork. It was the 1st time I've ever had to spit something out into my napkin. The pork was tough and tasted like pure orange rind. The meat in the baked spaghetti was the consistency of Alpo and didn't taste like real hamburger. Also the noodles were very mushy. The baby brussel sprouts were like baby food and my daughter's taco salad was made with taco meat that had at least 2 inches of grease on top of the meat. How do you mess up a taco salad? The dessert at Golden Corral is usually what I look forward to the most. I usually love their bread pudding and Chocolate Chess Pie. Well not today. The bread pudding was burnt and stuck to the pan and the Chess Pie didn't have any chocolate on it at all. It looked like they spread the chocolate on with a butter knife then topped it with 4 inches of cool whip. Maybe today was just an off day but for almost $10.00 for my food (not including my drink) I would have expected to find at least one edible thing. I'm not sure if we will be going back. The food here is always good but I am so disappointed in the chocolate fountain. A chocolate fountain is supposed to be like a fondue, warm melted chocolate! What Golden Corral has is nothing more than chocolate syrup in fountain form! The caramel and white chocolate is no better! I can honestly say my experience here was definitely better than most other buffets I've been to. They were very accommodating in seating our huge party of 50+ in a reserved room. Food was much better here than I thought it would be. The only real downside was the service staff was slower than most places. Worst experience I have ever had and a golden corral. I was walking up to get my meal when I noticed a manager talking to a subordinate with his mask pulled down underneath his mouth. As I walked past returning to my table he gave me a mask and said you need to wear this. My rating has more to do with the price than the food. The food was buffet food... as always. But I am a post gastric bypass surgery patient. I can eat the equivalent of two large tablespoons in any one sitting. Most restaurants will allow you to eat at child portions and child's price if you tell them you have had this procedure. Golden Corral charged me the senior citizen discount a whopping $.80 cheaper. What a rip off! I paid over $11 to eat two tablespoons of food. Bummer. read more

If I could give it zero stars, I would. Seeing has how that's not an option, one will have to suffice! I'm not a big fan of buffets in general, but my fiance' is a veteran and this restaurant has, in recent years, hosted a nice free meal for veterans on Veteran's Day, so we want to try to support them Unfortunately, things started off badly when I went to get a salad from the salad bar and found someone had cleared off all the greens and was cleaning the area. I was going to move on to something else, but she tried to be helpful and passed the greens back out onto the main buffet for me to get. Which I appreciated -- right up to the point where she put a pair of tongs literally dripping in soapy water on top of the lettuce. Because you know, I always enjoy a good soapy lettuce! I refused to eat it. And, sadly, things went downhill from there. The napkin dispenser was so gross your fingers would stick to it if you made the mistake of touching it when you tried to get a napkin. At that point I didn't trust the cleanliness of anything in the joint. Frankly, I was tempted to demand my money back (and probably should have considering I made an attempt to sample any item on the buffet bar that didn't give me the immediate inclination that it might make me physically ill -- and after 8 plates of food I barely touched, I ultimately left the restaurant hungry.) Still, I generally don't think it's helpful to complain to management for such wide-spread problems as this. I wouldn't go back if they paid me. read more

Not a good place at all! They put mayo packets on the hot bar and when you ask for some that were NOT on the bar, the manager is rude and says they are fine! REALLY?!? Doesn't he and the staff know that Botulism doesn't need air, just a warm environment to grow! Not concerned about the health of his customers! The staff mostly doesn't speak English so you cannot ask for anything and are VERY noisy about their job. The food is either bland, overcooked or is old and dried out. My friend an I had a bad experience there some weeks back with the steak on the buffet and not being able to get it as we wanted cooked. After convincing my friend that it was probably an off night that night, we tried again tonight...sigh...! The floors appeared to have food scraps all over around the buffet as if someone had dumped a plate in the floor all the way around it, but I still was able to convince my friend to give them another shot. I hate being wrong! We got a steak incidentally from the same meat carver how obviously was having the same bad day as before and appeared to be annoyed that we were taking him away from his cleaning and although the steak was cut into what appeared to be Quarters (probably three ounces), it was okay. Because they scrimped on portions, we had to go back for more. At this point, it was extremely well done, one might even call in burnt. When asking him for Medium rare, he laughed. We didn't even consider speaking to the same manager as it fell on deaf ears before on our last visit. The staff there cannot possibly be expected to customer friendly as they are a mirror image of the management. I never received a refill of my un-sweet tea when looking around, my server was busy cleaning and socializing with the other servers. You want to hear the funny ending, When looking for an 800 number on my receipt to contact Golden Corral home office, I noticed that there was a survey website on it and the cashier had written and circled "strongly agree". went there for Mothers Day and it was gross I called the health dept today. Many pieces of flatware, plates and bowls came out to be put with clean. dishes and they were not clean. Forks had food stuck to them and handles were greasy, some plates had bbq sauce on them and some bowls had fudge syrup on them. I made 2 complaints but they didn't care. If you don't mind eating off the same forks as strangers, go for it. If you want CLEAN, stay away,far far away. If you look under the health dept food sanitation ratings, you will see this has been addressed with GC before. read more

we just returned from the [fake ] golden corral in hickory nc.... we are senior citizens ,,......my bill is 35 dollars....... we could have eaten at the longhorn steak house for the same price.....and had a very nice meal........... but no,,, I decided to eat at the g-corral instead..... truthfully,,,,, I had one old dried drum stick.....a piece of some type beef ribs that I was not able to cut through,,,,,,,, I picked it up and tried to chew off a bite,,,,, but that was also unsuccessful...... the rice was ok,,,,,,i had a salad,, that was fair...... I have a salad almost every day,,,,,, and this salad was pretty bland...... well, if nothing else ,,,, lets try some desserts,,,,,, maybe the desserts will save the day....... but no........the chocolate cake was not fresh,,,,,,, and the blackberry pie was thick and tasteless...... the buffet,,, which is advertised as the best in the country,,,,,,,, is in my humble opinion ,,,,,, one of the worst anywhere,........
