I have been to Carrabba's several times over the years and I have to say this was a great experience. Our server Ally (July 2024) was wonderful. She was Friendly, efficient and attentive. The restaurant was well staffed, restrooms clean, our table was bussed quickly even for a Saturday night. Carrabba's Italian Grill is a chain restaurant serving Italian food. This location in Hickory is right off the highway and near the shopping center in the city, so it is in an ideal spot for travelers. It can definitely get crowded at meal time. I found the service to be friendly and quick for dinner on a weeknight. I came here with my cousins and shared a few of the dishes, such as the Tuscan Breadstick Tower. It was basically garlic bread with some parmesan and marinara sauce. I thought that the bread used seemed a bit cheap for garlic bread if that makes sense? But I still ate it up because I love garlic bread. We also shared the Tiramisu which was good, but not that sweet. As for my main entree, I got the Linguine Florentine which came with a side of soup in which I picked Mama Mandola's Chicken Soup. The chicken soup was really hearty and good, lots of onions, carrots, and chicken; I enjoyed it a lot! I got the Linguine Florentine with grilled chicken and it was a bit lackluster. It might have tasted better if I asked for parmesan on it? It came in a lemon butter sauce that tasted a bit too lemon-y for me. Overall, I think that this is an alright restaurant in Hickory. If you want pasta, I am sure that there are better places. But this place does offer a lot of different items on the menu that could work for anyone as my cousins really liked the food that they got. After not eating at Carrabba's since Covid, we decided to give it a try for an early dinner. My wife had a pasta and shrimp dish that tasted like it was straight out of the microwave with mushy pasta and rubbery shrimp. I had a salad with chicken, which was OK. The service was the worst we have experienced but maybe this is the new normal. Everyone we encountered acted disinterested, impatiently took our order then served up our meal with a chip on their shoulder. No refills, no checking in, just brought the bill and took the money. This place has fallen hard since the last time we ate here. We learned our lesson and will not be back. read more

Wait staff was very pleasant. Food was really good. Salad was fresh. Mezzaluna was great as always. Bread was delicious!

We have eaten here many times over the years but with Latoya (food server) she made our meal special. She was attentive, the food came out at a good pace, she even checked on us having our appetizers and said she would hold up our food and give us more time to work on the appetizers. The Ceasar Salad was exceptional, the soup was good, the entrées were very good. I had the Pollo Rosa Maria seasoned perfectly, my wife had the Veal Marsala, she said it was the best veal she had in years. I don't think you can go wrong with Carrabba's it is typically pretty good. To start the fresh bread they serve never fails to be warm and soft and I just love their olive oil spice mixture. I had the calamari appetizer the Ricardo sauce is quite spicy and has a soup consistency. The calamari itself is flavored well and has the perfect crispness. The chicken Rosa Maria pops with flavor and has a great creamy sauce with it. The staff are usually friendly but like all places they seem a little short handed it took a while for me to get my bill at the end. My mouth is watering just thinking about going back. read more

Really enjoyed the blackberry sangria. For dinner I had the Tuscan Grilled Chicken with Broccoli. It also came with a side salad. They called it Mrs C's base for the Tuscan chicken and it was delicious. On top of that the chicken was very tender. I'm not a big fan of "chains" but I do have to say this was good!! read more

Girls night. Dinner then a show at the community theatre (10 minutes away). Our server was friendly. Appetizers and salads quick then....... nothing. We were there for an hour and 10 minutes and still no dinner (2 Tuscany Chickens and a soup/salad). Not once did we see a manager doing table visits or even in the dining room. I explained we could pay for what we had eaten or we needed our food to go ASAP because we had to leave. Tables seated after us were already leaving. I also asked to see a manager, As a past key and restaurant manager I have never seen a manager approach a table so inappropriately. She was "aggravated" before she even approached us. Then we could see her complaining about us and telling another server to deliver our checks because she wasn't going back to our table. Meanwhile, her explanation of "we are short handed and it's Saturatday", did fall on deaf ears as we watched her stand their and drink red bull. Nope, not going back. This location is half way between my mom and myself and we met here for lunch this week. We arrived as it opened and were seated promptly. The waitress was so friendly and she did a great job serving us. There was a second male server who was not near as friendly and several of our requests to him went ignored. We needed another straw, and never got one. Dressing on the side of the salad, nope. ‍ Anyway... I am giving it 4 stars for 2 reasons. When you go somewhere for lunch in the middle of the week, you expect a lunch menu with lunch prices. There was 3 lunch specials but everything else is full price and I think that is insane. For that alone, I wouldn't return to Carrabbas for lunch. Second, they no longer serve pizza. The excuse we were given when we asked why was COVID. I am so sick of COVID being the excuse for everything on the planet. I can order pizza from 25 places right now, taking pizza off your menu has ZERO to do with Covid and everything to do with the bottom line. The food we ate was good. We are in Hickory staying at the Fairfield Inn. The food is amazing, but lack of staff. We ate at the bar and Josh was a fantastic. He was very over worked because we was running around getting food for people and running the bar. Its too bad they can't find good help. read more

I have been to Carrabas, many times. It has been a while, till today May 9th 2024. My wife and I decided to go back to check it out. We sat right down, wasn't too busy. Waitress Kristin, was very good, like you would suspect at Carrabba's. We both ordered our dishes and mine was excellent, but my wife ordered Lasagna. When it came it looked like they had made it with cardboard, noodles were over cooked, and, or had sit around for a long time. My wife couldn't eat it. Waitress Kristin, referred problem to the Manager, who promptly gave us only 10% off the bill. We never saw the manager, but it looks as if they need a new manager, because they have lost 2 customers, and maybe more when we tell people how they do business. We are not hard to please, but something as bad as this food was, should have been taken more serious. Carrabba's is one of the few chain restaurants that I will go to willingly. Usually I avoid chains like the plague. They have solid Italian fare and it is normally delicious and consistent. The pizza was basic but good, and my chicken dish was very delicious, grilled in the wood fire made all of the difference. The salads are crisp and fresh and not over dressed. Most disappointing meal to date. Me and the wife have been coming to this location for years and have had many good feeds, but this evening has to have been the worst. I commented to the wife that it seems like each time over the past couple of years, quality has gone down. Use to be a time when we recognize many of the staff but no more. We both ended ordering the Johnny Rocco that has always been rock solid, (that and the sausage and lentil always a cant miss). We also had a app, don't remember the name but goat cheese and marinara (pretty good) along with a couple of teas. The Johnny was very disappointing, came out without any dressing and more Romaine stalks than you could shake a breadstick at. Wife asked no red peppers but it was included which was as bonus for me cause I love them!!! I noticed my wife's had a large portion of stalk chunks as well. I commented to her that I didn't remember having this much romaine before especially with all the rib. Heck, she even pulled up the menu (cell phone) and saw it should have been mixed greens!!! Knew something was wrong but I had been hungry and ate most of the rib and picked out probably a dozen pieces. I usually am one not to complain but I called the waitress over and let her know, first and foremost, I was not looking for a free meal but this was the worst Johnny I've ever had at Carrabba's but not the worst salad I've ever had. The waitress stated she would get in a fight with whoever prepared the salad if she said something so she would speak to the manager and ask her to come by... A woman who I assume was the manager came by and quickly muttered "I said something to xyz and it won't happen again" and quickly walked away. Didn't ask it there was anything she could do for us, offer to take care of the app, if even offer a 10% coupon. I would have declined any offer but the fact of the matter was she only ran by the table without even offering a proper apology has cost them a local customer. I was a bit put off by the $55 bill and was trying to figure out how to leave no tip and ask the waitress to get it from the manager but my wife said no... she had nothing to do with it so I left a much smaller than usual, 10 dollar tip... normally a $15-20 tip! So this was an interesting evening. We had made a reservation for 730pm on a Saturday and when we got there we were told about a 20 min wait, which is understandable. After 30 min we go and check and were told that they have no idea when we will be sat as they have no idea when a table will open, the front was unfriendly and just seemed to be all Over the place. The only reason we stayed is because people drove from different places. It took about over an hour to finally get seated, so much for making a reservation... our waitress Heaven was awesome, she made the visit pleasant and joked with us and was constantly coming back even though she was running from both inside and outside and still managed to be great. Our food was good as it normally is .... The only complaint we all had was that the batter of the calamari had an abundant amount of pepper that it over powered the dish, don't think the description said that ... no one likes when someone decides their pepper quantity for them....later we were told by someone who apologized if we hear someone talk loud or scream as they could not calm her down because someone stole her tips, in cash, from a table behind us and we questioned how a guest could do that and we were told no, it was a coworker ... so that left a bad taste in our mouths... this location was also smaller than others I have been in. read more

I asked for no mushrooms on my plate. It came out with mushrooms on it. I sent it back and they simply scraped the mushrooms off. I complained to the manager who was "sorry i felt that way". Aye "Carrabba" the wine will make you "whine". Sorry, I couldn't resist. I really like it when a restaurant chain is good at controlling the customer experience location to location. This way you know what to expect and trust the chain. Tonight was no different. The expectation for a chain is good food and good service for the price. When you go to Carrabba's do not expect to feel like you eating in Verona Italy, down some little alley at a small place with authentic Italian food. The food is good. Let's start with the consistent service, it was there along with their exorbitantly high prices on wine. This is their biggest downfall, they charge too much for alcohol,beer and the wine. I paid 1.5x more for a "9 ounce" glass of wine than the bottle costs in the grocery store. Yes, they are one of "those" places... you know, the restaurant that charges for a 6oz glass of wine vs a 9oz glass. Restaurants that do this get an automatic 2 star reduction in my book. It's a real mood killer. They are more concerned about a couple of announces of wine over the customer experience. In most cases there is an price for service and meal provided. They do not realize or care that part of a fun meal is not stressing over getting charged too much for your glass of wine. Dori and I both purposely picked wine's that we knew the prices to check to see if pricing was better. ...It was actually worse. It's really a shame as their food is quite good for a chain. The ambience and service was nice as well. Food: I shared the mini plate deal with Dori, sharing lettuce wraps, stuffed mushrooms and prosciutto wrapped asparagus. Jax got the lobster ravioli, which always rocks. I highly recommend it. The stuffed mushrooms were average but good. They were what you would expect in a sausage stuffed mushroom. The prosciutto wrapped asparagus was really tasty, but was slightly undercooked. The highlight of the meal was the lettuce wraps. I will order them again for sure, just for myself. They had a very nice combination of Italian flavors. It was like a Caprese salad in a lettuce wrap. The one thing that could've made it better is fresh mozzarella. In summary I'm giving them two stars, mainly because of the price of their wine. They need a reality check to understand they are a very good Italian food chain, but they don't have the right to charge for like a five star restaurant. I do not recommend going, but if you know what you are getting in to if you plan to have wine, beers or spirits. read more

Started off a little rough, but there was a complete redemption. I had called, made a reservation (table for two) and told there was no wait. We arrived right after a family of four that hadn't made any reservation but were seated before us and then we were promptly told there would be a 20 minute wait. Pretty disappointed in Alexis, the front of house at the time. She didn't seem to care about what was happening. Come service though, we were greeted by the most amazing waiter we'd ever had, Matt! He was charismatic, humorous and very diligent to our table. He made a comfortable amount of small talk with us, and throughout the meal we commented multiple times on how much we loved having him serve us. Definitely made our night! Food was delicious, one of the better chain restaurants you can go to. Was not too oily, unlike other chain restaurants. Steak was cooked correctly to order, and the pasta was delicious. I was traveling through here for work from California. I needed some takeout to eat back at my hotel, I came here on a whim and saw so many maskless people eating inside.
