On March 19, 2026 I decided to go here with my parents ( along with my husband and two kids) since we are here visiting them and seldomly have a chance to dine at a Golden Corral. Since it has been a while, I called to check the prices. The call is a recording and for pricing the caller is supposed to price 2. So that's what I did. For the time that we were going, the recording clearly says that Early Bird pricing is from 1 to 3 with drinks included for $11. 49( or $11.99). For Seniors the pricing is similar but it's 11 to 4. We arrived before 3 and I was charged for drinks plus 12.49 for each meal. I went ahead and paid so that I could join my parents at the table. As I processed the pricing I asked the waitress and she said that that price is Early Bird Senior pricing, implying that there isn't a separate Early Bird and Senior price. That is not what the recording says. The "heading" for each price is clear and separate. So I asked to speak to a manager. Instead of him trying to understand what I was saying, he barely listened to the recording via the number that I dialed for that location and he defiantly told me that he wasn't changing his price and that HIS price is clearly on the board and that he was not changing it. This was the worse manager interaction I've ever had and he had no concern for what I was saying and couldn't have cared less. I couldn't leave my parents there and not join them so I didn't ask for a refund. So I quickly filled out the survey-making it known here that he is getting over on customers and doesn't care. He could have nicely refunded the difference and apologized for the misunderstanding and made himself a note to fix what was causing that confusion. Or, even if he couldn't extend a refund, he could have done something. He didn't do anything at all. It was clear that all he cared about was me just being another number in his restaurant that just so happened to be full at the time. Since he didn't want to treat me as a valued customer after me giving him more than one chance to correct the problem, I'm making it known here that that manager only cares about your money. If you call the number for this location it is not going to match what is on the menu in the restaurant as you get ready to check out. I also told customers as I was leaving to make sure that they are being charged correctly. He was so defiant and had no regard for me as I customer, I was almost speechless. I wouldn't be surprised if he was trying to spark a louder reaction from me but I didn't let it go that far. I won't be back there- especially if he is there and you all who are thinking about going there...watch your pennies. Update: The manager called to say the recording says that the prices are subject to change without notice. Even if that's true, he still missed the point. The price misunderstanding is only part of the problem. My point was in how he handled the situation, how he talked to me disrespectfully, and in how he handled the misunderstanding disrespectfully. He could have desclated it easily and a phone call with an empty " I'm sorry" doesn't make it any better. He only did that bc hos managers and owners said to. read more

The one in Montgomery Alabama has a bad smell and poor service. I will never visit again!

Folks usually know what they're in for when they go to a chain operated buffet restaurant to eat. That said, they are most often 3 star Yelp experiences. You can really stretch your dollar with all the food and drink you care to put down the hatch. However, it's most often are a case of quantity over quality. Upscale buffets usually get 4 stars and ones like Brazilian Fogo de Chao usually get 5. It's the ones that are very sloppy and take you back to a bad college cafeteria that get 2 stars. Golden Corral off the interstate just east of Montgomery, AL, as one might be driving between the Redneck Riviera and Atlanta, is one of these 3 star chain buffet restaurants. I ate here on a Sunday, heading north between exactly these two points. I've only eaten at one other Golden Corral, in Central Florida. Let's put it this way - it's a satisfactory chain but it's not exactly on my checklist, while a few chain operated food establishments do work for me. The most positive aspect of this Golden Corral is the vast array of things to choose from and, within that variety, some items are good, some items are not good, but most items are right about average. In general, I find that the hot dishes and things prepared for you, as well as fruits and vegetables, are better than average while salad bars and desserts tend to be below average, both in taste and how the area is kept and presented. The other good thing is the price. Also, this restaurant was clean enough. The major negative aspect surprised me. Typically, people employed in food establishments in the South display some semblance of a welcoming attitude, even today. Here, however, there won't be any sort of "how y'all doin'?" fanfare delivered like Paula Deen might, but do you really want such a shellacked come on? The service was actually prompt, but not all that friendly. It was a Sunday and they were crowded. A lot of people seemed to be coming in after church, which might not be particularly Atlantan, but still very common elsewhere in the South. (I bring this up because the observance of Sunday here extends to fitness centers, many of which are closed.) Some Yelpers might ask, "Are you in Montgomery, AL right now?" H.N. Don't you have to organize your thoughts, and possibly your photos, before you write up a review? That said, my reviews always come later and from home. Do people really write reviews while on the road? I guess some do. I got what I needed at this Golden Corral to fill a growling stomach on the cheap and keep driving. We eat at a lot of GC's in different locations - between Georgia, Alabama and Florida. This was average compared to other GC's. We visited here at 6:30pm on a Friday night- at the height of dinner hour. This is GC and everyone knows what they are going to get. Things I liked Price Senior discounts Food in general Steak was delicious Shrimp on skewers were a treat Cornbread stuffing was great Opportunities Collards tasted like they were out of a can (they usually taste home-cooked) Missing utensils to serve food Baked potatoes were cold Coke Zero drink needed more syrup Hot fudge was empty on dessert bar Anyone would enjoy this restaurant who lives nearby or just passing through, enjoys buffets, takes the family out for a meal, wants a good meal at reasonable cost, or wants dessert included! Good food at a good price. It's buffet style, so by default it can tend to get messy. The plates are the hard plastic style and many times are still damp for the previous washing. This doesn't bother me, but it might some people, so just letting you know. The food is not bad. It's hot and the trays are kept full (for the most part). Those butter rolls are too good. I always eat one more than I should. But man, they're good! The staff is friendly and they keep your table clear as you empty plates. This location gets crowded during dinner hours. The sight of that can be too much sometimes when all you see are people filling themselves on way too much food. If you can get past that, you'll find some decent food choices to enjoy. Come early afternoon if you can and you're experience will be much better. As with most buffet style places, you walk in and pay upfront. Then you have at it. Lots of salad bar choices. Pluses- Great great service from the front desk, cooks, to my server. Every person was smiling and asked if I needed or wanted anything. The steak was fresh and tasted great. Honestly all of my food was great. My server kept my tea coming and even suggested to add caramel to my chocolate pie, YUM. Negative- There is a smell when you walk in and OMG the filth on the floor, in the corners behind the food lines. I kind of just don't want to think about it. It's almost like they need to shut down a day and every worker help to do a deep clean, carpets and all. CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN was not working!!!!!! But, I would go back. The only good thing I can say about this restaurant is that our sever was always smiling and checked on us quite regularly! The food, what was available, was mediocre at best! Over greasy, not very hot? And just overall bad! They seemed understaffed to handle the amount of guests eating. The glazed chicken was tender, the vegetables succulent, the rolls hot. They delivered our food on time. I am very satisfied with their catering . There were very affordable as well. I gave this place a 1 star but if I'm being totally honest this place doesn't deserve any stars. For one, the bathrooms are disgusting and one time even had mold growing all over the mirrors. I was appalled. Next, the food is never up to par. The service is horrible. All they will do for you when service and food is horrible is give you a free meal, but why would I want a free meal somewhere that is so disturbing to go to? Actually fix the problems. Your restaurant will never get better if you don't weed out your problematic employees. Employees, WASH YOUR HANDS WHEN YOU GO TO THE BATHROOM. It is absolutely disgusting when I go to the bathroom and know that you work there because you are in uniform and see you not wash your hands after using the bathroom. There are so many buffets here in the South. Even though I personally don't like these places, I have to go with my family. It's not always up to me where we go to share our meals. At first, I was really turned off by this place. Too much food that didn't look very good. However, their salad bar is very fresh and had enough variety to build a good meal. I made a nice Bistro salad with mixed greens, blue cheese, beets, and almonds. They also make great butter rolls. read more

While shopping in Montgomery, we decided to have lunch at Golden Corral. The sign said $8.99 per person, which is what we expected. Went to pay (before eating) and was told $18.99 per person. We thought this was a mistake, but were told this is the price on Sunday. Same mediocre food, same everything, but $10 extra because it is Sunday? What a RIP OFF. I took my wife to The Montgomery Golden Coral in response to a free dinner offer. We got there about 2:30pm (central). THis was after the lunch crowd and before the 4:00pm dinner serving. THe is also called Senior early Dinner or as I view it left overs from after lunch. Starting with the salad bar, it had been heavily picked over and their was no lettuce. Scrapped together enough to make a salad. When I left the salad bar still had not been refreshed. My wife, a picky eater, waited in line for roasted chicken which when served was barely warm. That bring us to the over cook cold roast beef, My last observation was the varied temputure of the food on the steam table, some items were very hot others were Luke warm. SAD!! Booked the private group room for a retirement party a month ago. Four O-6s retiring from our unit; normally we would have used the O-Club, but one of the departing colonels is a huge fan of Golden Corral, so we chose it as a farewell tribute to him. Called the restaurant this morning to confirm our reservation and were told everything was good to go. Upon arrival at the restaurant, we were told that our group had to be moved out of the private room because a larger group than ours was on its way. We were placed in a dingy back corner of the restaurant where extra tables had been crammed in and pushed together. And other diners who were not part of our group were already seated at adjoining tables. As we had four sets of retirement orders to read and five service medals to present, along with the related pomp and circumstance, this was obviously a less than ideal situation. The lack of privacy meant that it would be nearly impossible for the members of our group to hear the ceremony over the ambient noise, and it also meant that the neighboring diners were about to be treated to a rude interruption of their ongoing lunches. We expressed our concern to the waitress, who was very apologetic but couldn't help us. The manager casually wandered over with a scowl on his face 15 minutes later after we requested to speak to him twice. The manager was utterly unhelpful and shockingly rude. He pretended to have no knowledge of our reservation. He had no alternate suggestions for us, made no attempt of any kind to accommodate our needs, and acted as though we were at fault. Unfortunately, at this point it was too late to move our group of 40 people to another restaurant, so we muddled through the ceremony as best we could with apologies to the people seated around us for the interruption. The area was so crammed that the honorees and distinguished guests had to climb over chairs and reach over tables to present and receive the medals and retirement certificates. In all, the affair was an unmitigated train wreck. Hardly an appropriate finale to the 30 year careers of these service members and their families who have devoted their lives to this country. And on Memorial Day weekend, too! Golden Corral claims to support the military? Don't believe it. They didn't even offer us a military discount on our food. Oh, and just to add insult to injury, the other group that we were bumped out of the private group room for apparently never showed up--the room remained empty the entire time we were in the restaurant. Food is decent, wait staff is polite, cleanliness is about what you'd expect from a buffet (which is to say, not clean at all.) But after the way our group was treated I will not be patronizing Golden Corral again. I recommend you avoid them, too. read more
