Good times, good clean food. Wait staff was great and the people next to us were very nice.

One of the most disappointing meals I have had in a long time. We had initially intended to visit a different restaurant that ended up not being open. We agreed to give Golden Corral a try. BIG MISTAKE. This place was PACKED so clearly, people seem to enjoy it. We did not... The only thing that anyone seemed to enjoy was their breaded shrimp. Those were a hit, everything else was borderline inedible. Even their desserts. I get it that they are having to feed a lot of people, and its all you can eat. That is a a challenge. They are just falling short in too many areas for me to ever justify returning. I cannot in good faith recommend this place. read more

We haven't been to Golden Corral in a long time. We were out in the morning and decided to find a breakfast spot and we happened to be driving down Perryville Rd in Rockford and seen the Golden Corral so we stopped in here. It's changed a bit since the last time we were here. Now, we pour our own drinks. I have no problem with this. They should have done this from the beginning. It was breakfast time on a Sunday so the drinks are included in the price of your meal. We paid, got to our table and everything was nice and clean. We went up for our food and it was about 10:45 or so and they started to transition from breakfast to lunch. First thing I seen was the cook grilling steak. It looked and smelled awesome! I asked for a piece of steak rare. The cook told me he couldn't give me any until 11:00. I thought that was a little strange. They used to have steak for breakfast, but whatever. So I was off looking at what else I could have. They just brought out freshly made fried chicken. I love Golden Corrals fried chicken. I like the legs and my wife likes the thighs. The chicken did not disappoint. After the chicken, I seen they had some freshly grilled jalapeños. I made myself a soft shell taco and had a nice jalapeño to go with it. I was already pretty full but I made one last round and seen they just put out some fresh jumbo fried shrimp and fish. These items again were great. I was done at this point, but looking at other items, everything looked wonderful. There was a pretty big crowd so they were constantly bringing out fresh food. As long as you go to a buffet at a busier time, you will always be guaranteed fresh food. I know it shouldn't matter what time you show up, you should always have fresh food for your hard earned money. But this is what you get at a buffet. Anyway, we had a great experience this time at the Golden Corral in Rockford. I forgot to say, our server was great also. She was there collecting plates and making sure everything was good. Ok so I tried the lunch buffet on Friday and it was quite good. Food was actually hot, but please for the love of everything get some cheese sauce for the nacho bar and some tiny plastic sauce cups! nachos are not nachos without the cheese sauce! I took my family there today, October 27th, 2025 for lunch.The food was terrible! The buns were hard. They had very little to choose from. Meats were all old and overcooked. Probably left over from the weekend. Ranch dressing was sour. The dessert tray was all hard and old. Not to mention, prices increased drastically. $77 for four lunches and drinks. My whole family ended up in the washrooms when we got home. When we told the server about our experience, she did not care, laughed said thank you and walked away!! We will never eat there again. I have eaten there many times. The food is always good. I found the wait staff to be on the ball with drinks and refills. Sometimes there is a line at peak hours but they have 2 registers and the line moves quickly. Much quicker than other restaurants where you can wait 1/2 hour to 45 minutes to be seated. It can get very busy but always a lot of staff to keep things moving smoothly. read more

I know Golden Corral isn't some high end restaurant here, but the food was great at this visit. We had just come back from a day at the water park nearby, and it was a great meal for famished kids after a long day in the sun. The fried chicken so crispy and fresh and juicy inside, and pretty much all the food was up to expectations of a buffet. The food in the buffet line got replenished fast. Nothing I ate was cold or felt like it sat out long. Our waitress was always coming to us to ask if we needed anything or coming to take away plates. Wait service was so good here (came on Fourth of July evening). It was really busy but our waitress was on top of things. Had a great experience here! Will be back! read more

I came in with my family right before noon on a Tuesday. We paid and were going to sit down. Not many people dining. Only saw two employees. The person tgat was cashiering and one person moving food to another container. One member of my family said the only areas that had much food was the salad bar and desserts. The rest of the food was either empty or dried out. I checked it out and they were correct. We got a refund and told the cashier about it. Cashier didn't seem to care either way. Another customer was coming up and told cashier they had been waiting 15 minutes for their drinks. She even said they hadn't seen any other employees, much less anyone waiting or clearing tables. It has been years since I visited a Golden Corral. If you visit Golden Corral you need to understand that they provide large quantities of food to masses. It is what I call the "public buffet". I was surprised to see the diversity of the food selection. They had a little of everything. The food areas were fairly clean considering the large number of people slopping around and the rouge children. The restaurant has several separate seating areas to break up the large restaurant. Servers keep your drink glasses full throughout your visit. The meat loaf was my favorite meat. Overall, not bad if you want diversity and mass quantities of food. I really like Golden Corral's community outreach to our great Veterans. They get one additional star just for that! read more

For the price, this is a decent buffet. Staff were nice, and attentive. Place was clean. Good selection of choices - really, there's something for everyone. Even my daughter (currently in a phase where only very particular foods will be eaten) was able to find items that interested her. We don't typically do a lot of buffets and were her at the suggestion of and with friends. (In the back of my mind is always the question of: what quality of food are they serving, that they can afford to price it so darn cheap?!?!) Having said that, we did enjoy the experience, and it was very cost effective. (It was about $40 for 4 of us, including tax and tip - they give a discount for kids under a certain age - 12 I think.) My kids love buffets by the way - I think because they can actually find lots to eat, and there's self-serve soft icecream at the end, a real motivator. Would we recommend....hesitant yes - again, we aren't buffet people - but if you are a buffet people, yes, this one's decent. There is a HUGE selection of food! Everything looked fresh and delicious. Tables were clean and available. Bathrooms were also clean. The only thing we didn't like was when we first arrived we told the person we had never been there before and asked how the process worked. He said he would get our drinks first and then explain. We just ASSUME that the drink comes with the buffet. We were charged $2.79/each. It may not seem like a big deal but that should be explained before hand, especially since we said it was our first time here. We have learned that a glass of water is just fine while dining out but that is just our personal preference. I ordered the meatloaf, sweet potato casserole, green beans, and carrot cake to go and it was very disappointing. I only had two bites of the meatloaf and it tasted like the Salisbury steak that you buy in the frozen section of a grocery store and it was horrible. The sweet potato casserole tasted like it was just sweet potatoes and marshmallows and it wasn't good either. The green beans were very plain and flavorless but I ate them because I to eat something. The carrot cake wasn't a slice of cake like I ordered but what looked like the stuff that's left behind after everyone has played in the cake. It was in 7 small pieces and had almost no frosting at all. It was very dry and I only ate 1 bite. It was totally disgusting. That's my last time ordering from GC! read more

Excellent service, Fresh Food! Beautiful Staff. I travel A LOT. This Golden Corral is a 5+ star establishment. They keep your table clean & the food is so DIVERSE & NEW UP TO DATE RECIPES. The prices haven't changed it's still under $10.00 for Breakfast & lunch and Grand Dinner is $11.99 I believe. You eat like a King & Queen /Princess each meal. Excellent dishes & Silverware. My husband, and I decided to go there this past Saturday, to try their Prime Rib dinner. Of course, it was jammed, and you did feel like LIVESTOCK. BEWARE, take time to check your receipt! When we were ready to leave, what a shock, especially since I repeated to the young man that we were seniors, had 2 Pepsis and a water, when my husband went to leave a tip, NIGHTMARE, realized we were charged $65.98 for that mistake! The manager didn't know how to credit the bill, so he gave us a cash refund-guesstamite (sic). What was more of a shock to us was as we left, guess who the cashier was, THE SAME CASHIER REMAINED........BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Learned my lesson! read more

Maybe we went on a off day. I compromised coming here with my mom since she loves home comfort food. I was grossed out by how unclean the place was. If you are going to have an open kitchen, KEEP IT CLEAN. And the buffett part was also gross, with dropped food everywhere. Steak was gross and tough. I couldn't find one thing I liked. Unless you have a very large group, don't bother. As you have a bird's eye view of the kitchen, you can tell that it needs a thorough scrubbing. The food is subpar, most of the salad greens were watery and some dressings had been standing too long. Meats were either tough or very bland -- healthier options would be welcome. If you see a bunch of kids when you walk in, just walk back out; chances are some of the food - especially the dessert bar, has had more than its fair share of sticky little fingers combing through it, much to the chagrin of other patrons (and an impatient and obviously harried manager). The waitstaff are friendly and attentive, but they could use a lecture on cleanliness, which is a visible problem, but that may be due to the crowding issue that is apparent -- if they pulled a few tables (especially on the side nearest the salad bar, and the ones nearest the dessert bar), and spaced the remaining tables out more, it would be easier to get around for patrons and staff alike, and cleanliness issues can be better spotted. Yes, it IS a buffet, but quality is infinitely better than quantity, and cleanliness even more so. A bit of TLC, training, better food quality, and prep -- with a HUGE dash of parental policing, would make this branch a better place. read more

Decided to have dinner there with our family. Adult dinner $13.99 add $2.49 for a beverage is expensive for a buffet and not a sit down dinner . Quality of food not worth $13.99. There is though a variety of food. New owner trying to save on overhead. One person doing drinks when you come in. There are two lines. Customers were outside lined up each door. Had only one person working both registers . Waited about 40 minutes to get in and pay . Several employees told us that owner doesn't want too many employees working. We have always been long time customers. I don't know what changed. Prices have climbed to the point we can no longer bring our family. $36 for two people. The food is no longer good, it's cafeteria level. There were two "servers"covering the whole restaurant. All of the customers were packed into a tiny section, while the rest of the place was closed off. Our section smelled, I don't know what it was.
