This feedback is for Kim at the Texas Roadhouse located at 7240 Walton St, Rockford IL 61108 My wife and I came in for our 9th anniversary and are still new to the area (just moved to Rockford back in July).  We didn't want any commotion or anything so we made sure to not say anything. Kim was our server, and unaware of our anniversary, she made sure we had a wonderful night and felt taken care of without checking on us too much, all while dealing with at least 2 other high-maintenance tables that we could see in the section.  We will definitely be coming back, and will definitely be asking for Kim to be our server in the future! read more

Inside is cute. our server Mckenzie was wonderful!! She was the best!! The rolls are delicious. The grilled shrimp appetizer is yummy! The premium margarita is refreshing. The chili was good. The cheeseburger was OK but the fries were extremely salty. The ribeye was way too tough. The mashed potatoes were too salty and the baked potato was covered in salt. I'm not a big fan of chain restaurants, however, I am a fan of Texas Roadhouse! I recently went there and ordered the small sirloin and a sweet potato. Or course rolls too! They are so good, especially with the cinnamon butter! I have to say, I had no idea how good a baked sweet potato could be! It was amazing! So soft! Now I'm obsessed with baked sweet potatoes! First visit for our 27th anniversary on May 1st. When we arrived it was totally packed although we were seated within 15 minutes. Nicholas was our server (outstanding young man). Our drinks arrived quickly soon followed with the awesome Catcus Blossom. Our entrees arrived still sizzling from the grill , not only did the food look amazing , the smells were out of this world !! I've had bad service before but never at a Texas Roadhouse and definitely never where I felt like it was deliberate. Food was okay. My steak was not medium, it was medium well in the center and well done on the ends where the meat was thinner. I'm not too picky about that so I just ate it anyway. The problem was the server. After I got my food I was waiting for my server to come by and check up, as is normal, so I could ask for steak sauce. She checked up on the person next to me, walked right by me to check on the people sitting in the other side of me, and never even made eye contact with me. I sat there and watched her check up on three or four other customers, walking right by me a few times yet she still didn't check up on me or make any eye contact and honestly it seemed like she was deliberately avoiding me. I was trying to make eye contact with her so I could ask her for steak sauce but she wasn't having it. She looked in every other direction but mine. I wasn't going to wave my arms in the air to get her attention either so I just sat there until finally I guess she forgot I was there and accidentally made eye contact with me. Then, and only then, did I get my steak sauce. I like Texas Roadhouse and I'll definitely go to one again but it won't be this one. Texas Roadhouse is my to-go place when I'm on the road for business. I sit at the bar, where I can speak with locals and get a feel for the area. I started with my usual, a whiskey sour. For my meal, I chose the 6 oz. Dallas filet, steamed broccoli and steak fries (instead of the mashed potatoes I usually order). I ordered my steak medium-rare and it was more like medium-well, but it was well-seasoned and I still finished it off. Club soda kept me hydrated. My meal was hot and delicious. My husband and I went to eat there on Saturday February 15. From the start, the ambience was perfect! So cozy and beautiful- we were seated as soon a as we walked in. Our waiter was too kind, he gave us full attention and suggestions on what to order- the bread with the butter is divine- and we ordered the cactus bloom which I have to say hands down is the most delicious appetizer we've had! My steak was cooked to perfection and my husband couldn't be happier with his plate! I'm looking forward to visiting again and hope the service continues the way it is. Don't plan on going here for your 21st birthday. They looked at my boyfriend's Id that was vertical and said no even though it was his 21st birthday and his id was still valid for 2 more years. Stopped here for a bite to eat on a Saturday evening. Very busy! This is one of the better locations of this restaurant I've seen some that are in bad shape (staff wise). We waited for about 20 minutes before we were seated. Not to bad for a Saturday evening! The staff was very personable, knowledgeable, and attentive. I had the sirloin and shrimp dinner. Today I celebrated my birthday and the entire experience was a 10 out of 10. The place was packed, the tone of the staff and other diners seemed upbeat and felt comfortable. Our server Cheyenne was outstanding. The trifecta of efficiency, personality and professionalism. She made thoughtful suggestions when asked about one dish over any other. She is an asset to Texas Roadhouse. The food was served with perfect timing and it almost seemed like our drinks were magically refilled. To be clear I have not always had amazing experiences at Texas Roadhouse but tonight the STEAK was Great! I had the 16 ounce ribeye and it was perfect. Now I'm pretty picky and I asked for the steak to be a certain way and our server Jessica brought me out pictures of a couple of steaks they thought would fit when I was asking for. Went there for my birthday/Valentine's Day. I was looking forward to a nice steak dinner. I asked for the ribeye medium well to well done. I explained I like my steak fully cooked but with no char/burned. I just like it cooked. No red. No pink. Just cooked and not burnt. When I received my steak it was completely pink. I just couldn't eat. I very politely asked for it to be put back on the grill and said, "just a little bit more and please don't burn it." I understand I'm picky but I know some cooks are able to just cook a steak without burning it. When it came back it was 100% charred. Just completely burnt. It was a disappointment. There is no expectation of true 5-star-white-linen service at Texas Roadhouse - I get that. What I do expect is kindness, customer-oriented service (if not "legendary service" that they tout on their corporate website), and a decent meal. Well, we never got to the meal part. Here's why: Our group of 9 showed up. They had to split our reservation because of their "no more than six to a table" policy. I first thought it was due to state COVID restaurant limitations, but in Illinois the limit is 10 - so not sure why that policy - perhaps it is an internal thing. Anyway, our 2 groups got called at approximately the same time. The first group of 5 got seated, but of the 4 in the second group, 2 were unavoidably delayed and were not sure how long it would take to get there. They told us they would not seat the second group . That's not an uncommon policy, I get that. It's not fair to others waiting with full parties, it delays the table turnover, etc. A manager happened to be walking by, so I quietly asked her to consider a couple of alternative options since we were already 30 minutes past our promised seating time. We could; A - be seated and we would order for the two missing as to-go orders and if they showed up great, if not, then we would take them their food - this would not delay the table turnover or B - there was a table for 2 right next to the larger table that was "closed" and perhaps we could seat the 2 there and tell the two that were delayed that they were on their own for dinner or we could order to-go at the end of our group's meal. This way, we're not taking a table from another waiting party and also not delaying the table turnover times. The manager told us that the table was closed because of a shortage of wait staff. Great, I thought, this should not be a problem since we would prefer to use the wait staff already assigned to the table right next door with our group - and we would all be on one check anyway so no problem! Nope. The manager said that was "against policy" and she could not help us. I was more than a bit surprised and reiterated my option B to the manager pointing out that it solved the "short of waitstaff" problem, did not take up a table from another waiting party, and our group could be seated right next to each other. She repeated herself, "that's against our policy and I'm sorry I cannot help you". I said, "Ma'am, I run a customer-facing business as well. My managers, like you, have the ability to bend policy if it means pleasing a guest without detriment to another guest." She repeated herself, "I'm sorry, I cannot help you. That's our policy." Now, I was frustrated. Without raising my voice, causing a scene, or otherwise showing any outward aggression, I said, "Ah, but see, you can help us. You could offer a solution. You are choosing not to do so." Yeah - I said that (so many reviews do not contain honest reactions by the reviewer - so this is in the interest of full disclosure) and I stand by it. This was a moment of opportunity for this manager. She could have been the hero of the day. If she did not have the authority to honor my request, she could have offered to bring in a manager who could help solve the problem. She could have taken a moment, come out from behind her policies, and worked with us to figure out a solution rather than putting 2 of us back on a wait list for another 45-60 minutes. Anyway, after she said that, my wife walked over and asked what was going on. I told her we could not be seated because of their policies. The manager turned to me and said, "If you don't like our policies, you can leave." Yep. I got kicked out of Texas Roadhouse ultimately because I asked a manager to use her authority to help make few guests happy without creating any potential bad experience for another guest. So, I walked past her and into the restaurant, gathered the group that had already been seated, and we went to a neighboring restaurant down the road that was happy to seat us all together, had no problem putting together a to-go order for the 2 that were delayed (but ultimately showed up about 15 minutes later), and recognize that the guest experience is all that really matters. I reached out to corporate - got a template response that I feel like will not be shared with the franchisee or the store management and a $15 gift card that I will not be using. I think it's important that this manager (maybe all of the managers at this location) learn about moments of opportunity, 212 degree service, or something that empowers them to create a good customer experience even when "policy" might, at first, seem contrary. read more

This is a new location. I have traveled to Rockford for 14+ years and lost my local favorite to COVID. So lately I have had to 'look around' for replacements. Chains are not on my search list for restaurants normally. I felt like a burger and Texas Roadhouse is a Steakhouse so I figured what-the-hell. Great decision! Burger ordered Medium Rare which seems to be difficult for most for some reason. My burger was perfect, after the first bite I was longing for another. Sweet potato was ok, but a little over done, I consume the skin as well and mine was basically a potato chip on the outside. The sweet buns that accompanied my takeout meal were the next best thing to Krispy Kreme's off the chain belt. For a chain they are doing some great un-chain things and I will go back here. Once we got there, we had to wait a little, but we were escorted to our table and shortly afterward, Kassandra, our server arrived. Kassandra is bubbly and took our drink order. Since there is a pandemic and all restaurants must either do carryout or outdoor seating we decided to go to Texas Roadhouse because we saw they had outdoor seating with umbrellas, but it was a huge mistake. Only some of the tables had umbrellas and of them quite a few of those were broken and in disrepair. We were seated at a table in the sun and it was so hot and uncomfortable all we could think was get done and get out of there. Our server was nice enough but we rarely saw her. We were never offered drink refills even though it was 87 degrees and we were in the direct sunshine. She never came back to see if everything was ok or if we needed anything. Two of our party went inside to use the restrooms and both said the same thing we couldn't believe how slick the floor was considering there was very little traffic in there.
