My Aunt and I went for breakfast on Sunday morning around 10:45, I love the breakfast however was very disappointed that they were pulling the breakfast items. They also were out of the scrambled eggs so I had to have the guy at the omelette station make me 2 eggs over easy. I do like their Mexican food area, but again disappointed they did not have Menudo. My Aunt was disappointed also that they were out of eggs-had I known she wanted some I would have had the guy who made mine make her some. I wish the Breakfast hours were longer-for people coming out of Church at 11 or people who enjoy brunch. I think they start pulling breakfast at 10:45 and start putting out lunch. Golden Corral used to be a place I looked forward to going to but the one in Wichita has gotten so bad I won't go in there. Thought I would try the Topeka one since I was in town for work. I'd say it's a step up from Wichita but still not great. It's mostly a cleanliness issue for me. I found food that was fine and didn't leave hungry but not sure that I'll go again. We stopped in here last night on a road trip from California to Missouri because we had a gift card to use. We came at about 8:15pm, knowing they close at 9 so I didn't have expectations of everything being full. However, I was pleasantly surprised to see that everything was still fully stocked and clean. The restaurant itself was clean, and the employee who helped us at the cash register was really friendly and kind. When we sat down we were greeted by a really kind server, who's name I believe she said was Tascha. Her kindness and friendliness made our 4 star experience 5 stars. The food was all fresh, typical buffet food. There was a good variety of choices, so everyone in our party was able to find something. The area was clean and the employees were all very friendly and nice. I'd definitely come back if I was in the area again. read more

The Golden Corral just came under new management and is re-opened, here in Topeka. We ate there yesterday evening and the quality of the food is no better. We sample portioned several items, steak, prime rib, chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, shrimp, hush puppies, onion, rings, french fries and even their famous rolls were cold and hard like they were overcooked all of the items were lacking the flavor that we were looking for. For the two of us adults with soft drinks was $42 and some change the meal was definitely not worth it. We could've gone to several other places to eat, and possibly spent less and enjoy the meal more, but we thought what the heck it's under new management it might be better. I did give this a one star on account of the waiting staff and the cleanliness of the facility is a lot better than what it used to be. Overall, I would have to give this a thumbs down for restaurants here in Topeka. We are not planning to visit this establishment anymore. read more

We stopped here on our journey across America the other night, went to Texas Roadhouse and the waiting line was out the door, it was late so we left, and tried Golden Coral. There was an attendant cooking steaks and you needed to ask. I asked for rare Ribeye, it was honestly so grislily I could not even chew to swallow, I had to try something else. The salad bar looked like a tornado went thru about 15 minutes ago and most of the salad fixings were empty so I got a piece of chicken and snacked on it, but it was dry. We left went up the street to McDonalds and got a hamburger to take back to the room. Not the best, not the worst. To me, for $10+ I can get much higher quality of food around here, but probably not as much. However, if you're with a large-ish group of people who all have different wants, this place should be able to satisfy everyone. That being said, their veggie selection is pretty decent as well as the dessert selection - with one caveat: that chocolate fountain has got to go. It's a gimmick filled with a messy, greasy product attracting hundreds of dirty little hands lining up to stick things in it and making a huge mess. Really NOT a good idea for a place like this. Overall, this last visit was ok. It was a Friday night and an absolute madhouse, (screaming, pushy kids and hordes of hungry people making messes faster than the staff can clean them) but the service was still pleasant and the food was good enough. If I were the manager, I would be ashamed of the salad bar. Browning lettuce, having white onion rather than red onions, without also having shredded red cabbage. Went to the all new remodeled GC 11/3/22 in Topeka Ks. for dinner paid 40.00 for two meals and a drinks. #1-sat down to food covered silverware. #2-the temperature of the building felt like a walk-in food locker. #3-food tasted like it might've been good but it was so cold from the steam tables. Spinach was still frozen, desserts were still frozen. New look same uncaring Managment. Customer side of food bars were covered with food that no one was bothering to stop and clean. WORST experience ever!!!! My son found HAIR in his food! The server went to get the manager! I explained to him the issue. Without apologizing, empathizing, he says "give me a minute, I'll see what I can do". He comes back with a card, offering a free meal and drink. In my eyes TOTALLY unacceptable. First of all I don't live in Topeka or any of its surrounding areas!! Secondly, why would I want to come back here? So, I declined the "free meal" offer. He then states he needs to go get approval, to refund me. Well I thought I was speaking with the manager...approval from who??? Anyway! He comes back and states he can only get approval to refund my son's meal. Mind you it's a party of four!! So, apparently they expected that we'd want to continue eating at the establishment. I expressed my concern even further! If there is hair in ones food at our table, what makes you think the remaining parties would want to continue with their meals?? The manager refused to refund me for my party of four! Although we had just got there, and that was the FIRST PLATE! I could possibly, maybe attempt to understand, had we sat and have SEVERAL plates. However that was not the case!!! This was very poor customer service! A Very poor response to the issue! This place makes thousands of dollars everyday! It would have not hurt anything or anyone, to refund my family and we could go patronize elsewhere! Very very poor business decision. I will NEVER go back when visiting Topeka. I give this a who star because Golden Corral has decent food, but in the past months I noticed this buffet has been going downhill and I mean fast. My mom and I used to come here all the time when there was better quality food, but it has not been tasting as good lately. Last time my mom and I went we got our table then got our food, no waiter/waitress came and greeted us for 10 minutes or so. My mom and I won't becoming back in a while, I know that for sure. OMG. Not worth the 15.69 all you can eat ribs last Saturday! The best part was the salad bar, seafood salad was good and we all know it was fake! I tried two kinds of ribs, the boneless were so dried and tough I had to pound my fork into them, the rib on were not cooked enough and fatty nasty of the few peices of burbon chicken only two were edible with flavor. The mexican/asian bar was also nasty, tamale was dog food, enchildadas unable to get out of pan, eeg rolls nasty mush. The restaurant that we order from in Topeka Kansas, is very hit and miss. With the pandemic, ordering food to be delivered was and still is our primary choice, and with delivery, you can almost be assured that there will occasionally be items that are wrong or missing with your order, but that is likely the fault of the delivery service not getting everything ordered from the restaurant when they contact the business. With Golden Corral, that's not the case. You order directly from the GC website and they coordinate with DoorDash to make their deliveries. The past two times that I have placed an online order from GC, I have been shorted numerous items from my order. First time, I ordered 3 individual dinners and received 1. This most recent order, I requested that my delivery be made at 7:00 pm. The order was placed at 5:00 pm. We received a call from GC at 7:15 pm letting us know they were running late. The order finally showed up at 8:00 pm and all of the items were cold. It was evident that the order had been sitting on a counter for the hour that they were waiting for the driver to show up. All of the items were poultry (turkey and fried chicken). We received no gravy for the turkey, no more than a table spoon of cornbread dressing for each turkey dinner, out of 2 requested sides of dressing for each dinner. No cranberry sauce, and one of the dinners had little scraps of reddish brown meat that had evidently been pulled from the carcass, while the other had two small pieces of white meat. The side of buttered corn was missing from the fried chicken dinner. Upon speaking with the manager at GC, he declared that the entire order was fulfilled and everything was fine. I realize that using a delivery service can complicate things a bit, but it was very evident that the missing items were never put into the dinner containers. In this case, the restaurant is entirely to blame. Due to all of the dinner entrees being poultry related, and having set out on a counter for at least an hour before we received them, I took photos of what was received and then pitched the entire order. I have had food poisoning before and do not want it again. I have contacted GC main office and hopefully I will receive a response. I apologize for the lengthy review, but want for others to be aware of what they might expect when ordering from this particular GC establishment. read more

If you fancy cafeteria food, you'll at least find a better than average selection here, with a few tasty surprises (great cheese biscuits and hand-scooped ice cream). If you don't like your food made to order, and can overlook greasy utensils, this may be the place for you. I went to Golden Corral to break the monotony of eating Chinese and knew what to expect. I liked the left hand side of the buffet which was the salad section and the right hand side which was the desert section and could have easily avoided the middle section without missing much!!! The steak that I had was like one of the worst that i had ever had and on the other hand I found the fried chicken to be nicely seasoned, crispy and juicy so i basically just went with a lot of that. So then I said,"I guess we're not getting served" at which point he came over and served us. I then explained where he went wrong and he had no explanation and no apology. He then complained to another customer who went off on a 5 minute rant spewing venom about how I "treated him".
