I've gotten take out from Ling's a couple of times, and I have to say it's one of the better options in Topeka for Chinese food, but that's not a high bar to clear. The food is always hot and stays that way until I'm home, but anything that's fried really doesn't stand up well to the travel. Stick to non-fried items and you should be good to go. read more

Good split of veggies and chicken. I would recommend just the veggie one over chicken. General Tso Chicken - ask for extra extra spicy and u for something brewing for dinner that u would enjoy. This place can either be ok or not good. Sometimes it's just ok and other times it's nope not good. Maybe it changes week to week. Maybe a turnover of cooks who knows how the make something or have no idea. Too bad it's not really good. If you're ever in Manhattan go to Chen's!!!! Used to at lings delivery was free. Now they have a convenience fee for ordering online if you even pick it up. Plus they add a delivery charge and it used the be free . The driver would get the tip. I enjoy this restaurant. One of my favorite lunch spots, and a spot I usually recommend. I believe the staff is respectful and the service is pretty fast. Unfortunately however I recently had a very unforgettable and frankly quite unfortunate experience experience. I had ordered some fried cheesecake and the most unappetizing noodles chicken Lo mein. My recommendation to the operator is perhaps check food quality. May give it another try one of these days but unfortunately my last experience left a bad taste in my mouth (quite literally). read more

I am so happy to find another quality sit down dining establishment open until 10 pm in Topeka. Thank you for that! The inside is very clean, well lit, nicely decorated, and has a friendly staff. I believe the owner was working but this is just a hunch. The food was brought to our table quickly and our server was very attentive and friendly. Everything tasted great. My husband did not care for his hot and sour soup but I think that is a personal preference not a reflection on the soup. I tried steamed dumplings with chicken and broccoli. Craving a good soft noodle chow mein, decided to use Yelp to see if there was any place in Topeka offering the real noodle instead of the crispy, dry version served in most of the Midwest. Sadly, lo mein seems to be the only thing close to the classic version. Anyway, hadn't tried Ling's yet and decided to give them a shot. Unfortunately, I can't say anything more positive than average. The General Tso's Chicken has a nicely spiced breading BUT the sauce was thin, mostly vinegar and little spice. The Pork Lo Mein had a good sauce and nice portions of vegetables BUT the pork had an old, par cooked flavor that was unpleasant. If I've said it once, I've said a thousand times there is only one decent Chinese restaurant in Topeka and that is family owned Hunam at 29th & Fairlawn. read more

Tip, don't use the DoorDash on Yelp to order takeout, they up-charge the menu prices by about 1-2 dollars per dish and the menu isn't as customizable. What a find! I'm surprised at the lack of business! Wait staff was very friendly and attentive the entire time. From the moment I walked in the door I was greeted and all my questions were answered! I got the Vegetable Teriyaki and it was incredible! The portion for a lunch meal and deal was more than satisfactory! Definitely will fill you up! The veggies were cooked perfectly and the teriyaki sauce was tasty as well. This is one of the few places that still adds egg to their fried rice. So if you don't want egg make sure you ask for it to not be included. The house made ginger dressing was very good, but it could've used a little more ginger to my liking. The fact they make it in house was enough to impress me. The Miso Soup was exactly what is expected and didn't disappoint. The lunch sushi special is an incredible deal! Three large rolls for $10! I got two Sweet Potato Rolls and an Avocado Roll. The Avocado roll was great! I mean you can't mess up seaweed rice and avocado. The Sweet Potato Rolls were massive! And very good! Nothing more scary than ordering a raw roll and having it arrive slightly heated. I got a spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and an Alaska roll. Everything tasted exactly the same, the fish on the spicy salmon and spicy tuna were mixed with (I'm guessing) tempura flakes, making for a strange texture and temperature. The rice isn't seasoned and the blandness overwhelms the fish. The cucumbers in the Alaska roll were nice. That's about all I can say. read more
