I have had sushi in a lot of different places, but sadly, this was by far one of the worst food experiences I've ever had. The service was mediocre, while the food was well below average and nothing seemed fresh. Although the presentation was somewhat okay, the quality was very poor. The fish tasted at least over two days old, and both the salmon and the eel had a soft texture from improper thawing. The rolls were heavily over-packed with rice, and the soba noodles weren't even real soba, having more of a lo mein or spaghetti texture instead. Even the drinks fell short, as the water tasted like tap water that needed a filter change, and the soda was completely flat. The Crab Rangoon was sloppily made, but ironically, it was the only enjoyable and digestible thing on the table. Everything was very underwhelming, and I have no idea who genuinely enjoys this place. I give this a one star because it was bad sushi. I ordered take out for dinner while in town and I thought I would enjoy a night of sushi. Let's just say, I don't recommend. I could not believe they actually have decent sushi in Topeka here. They do have an al carte and all you can eat menu. I did the all you could eat. With this you cannot order half rolls. The ones I did get were good. There was just something I could not put my finger on about the sushi that I was like it's ok just not like great. ‍ the cucumber salad was nice and fresh. Overall, this place is rated 3 and a half stars since the sushi was pretty decent, especially for all-you-can-eat. However, some of the menu items were misleading since the spicy tuna roll and the Topeka Roll came with spicy mayo on too even though the menu didn't say so. Otherwise, it was a pretty good experience since the food got out fairly quickly from the time of ordering. On the other hand, the inside could use some updates. read more

Came here for a couple of drinks and appetizers. Hostess at the front were very welcoming, I feel the hospitality from a mile away. Bartender was also very friendly and put the play-off game on for us. Appetizers are good, my favorite is the miso soup and gyozas. Whenever you eat sushi, you have to pair it with Sapporo beer! This is MY go to sushi place. The fish is good and the rolls are great. For me though, the service is what keeps me coming back. Their wasabi is a bit weak for me so I sneak my own in. I know they've seen me but they don't make me leave because of it. They're really good people here the place is clean and I've come to love the white tuna the most. It's so buttery that I don't use wasabi or kikomen with it. Good food, great service, in a clean inviting restaurant...and IN Topeka of all places! I'll be back and probably in the next few days. Always a pleasure to stop in for their food. I don't get to Topeka as much as I used to but I like to stop here to eat lunch. A lot of food for a low price and it is a nice cozy place and the service has always been top notch each time I have visited. Such polite staff. We were not able to finish all of our last selection and I did not have a problem with the extra charge. I've seen people wasting food at other places and it disgusts me with the amount they waste. Quality of individual sushi (I tried all 8 or 10 or so) fish was nothing extraordinary. Rice was warmer and bigger than I prefer in my sushi but pretty much on par to buffet. I also had miso soup, an appetizer or two, one roll, and udon noodles. It was ok. More organic to go with others and share several rolls but I was a solo diner. 10/10. Me and my family go here 1 once or twice a month sometimes even 3! I absolutely love the Mango Tempura Shrimp rolls and my fiancé loves the California Rolls and Volcanoes! People complaining about $39 all you can eat sushi clearly do not understand the cost of sushi; this is correctly priced. If you do NOT intend on eating a lot, then go to a normal sushi place where you will spend half. This is for people who intend on eating A LOT so please stop complaining about the cost. And yes, if you leave a bunch of sushi behind you will get charged for it and that is STANDARD at ALL sushi places. Keep in mind, Kansas isn't near an ocean so please understand that here in the Midwest, we are probably paying slightly more than those that live in San Francisco.
