Long time customers. Always clean, never crowded. Fast service and quick food delivery. Barely enough time to finish your soup when the main course is being served. Always friendly service. Large portions. Vegetables cooked to perfection, not raw, not mushey. They changed their fried shrimp pieces for the better if you don't like heavy batter on your shrimp. Excellent light crunchy shrimp. I like the #4 combination but substitute the diced almond chicken for pork chow yuk. This has way less celery and more other vegetables. Their prices have not gone up in the past year. Still very reasonable and large portions. Predictable great experience everytime we choose this restaurant. Went into the restaurant today and it was clean and we'll decorated. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was amazing. Large servings, fresh ingredients and hot when served. There was plenty on the menu to choose from. The kids ate crispy chicken burgers. They were perfectly seasoned and plenty of fries to go with it. The sweet and sour chicken was perfectly flavored. The Mongolian beef was delicious. BBQ pork was tender and juicy. This was a perfect meal, in my opinion!! The food came out fast and we never had to wait for drinks to be refilled. We ordered takeout for a large number of people, and the service was prompt. However, the food quality was terrible. Diced almond chicken was mushy and had no flavor. Sesame chicken had no sauce. The iconic American-Chinese (not Chinese-American because this is really something we created) restaurant. Not fancy, but exactly what you would expect. The food was quick, hot and how I envision it. I had the fried shrimp and sweet n sour pork with some chow mein and pan-fried noodles. I'll repeat it was just as I expected but would have preferred if they had laid off the celery and used some other vegetables to round it off--but it was what I expected especially for the price. I grew up with egg fu yung being a little egg mixed with a small amount of chopped celery and Chinese five spice and fresh bean sprouts--very simple and light. Here it looks more like a thick veggie pattie with a brown gravy that would be perfect to slather over your traditional Thanksgiving dinner mashed potatoes. I'm not fond of it, but Lynette and our guest loved the holy heck out of it and couldn't get enough. Take that as you will. We dine here often but today was the first time we dined for lunch. The restaurant was quiet but still sparkling clean. Service staff was friendly, as usual. They offer a lunch menu with reduced pricing compared to dinner. But the portions are still large enough to share. We had the chicken lo mein, egg flower soup and pork fried rice. Everything was fresh as always. I see a number of reviews here that are less than stellar, but I am a particular fan of Cantonese Chinese vs. some of the other more popular "styles" commonly found in Salem and the W Coast in general. Golden Crown delivers fresh, tasty Cantonese every time and I always enjoy their atmosphere and service. We will continue to frequent the restaurant whenever the "yen" for Chinese strikes. read more

This is our favorite Chinese restaurant in Salem Oregon. The food is always fresh and the service is always fast & friendly. We ordered the dinner special for three of us and we could barely eat half because there was so much food. We will eat the rest for lunch tomorrow. Lunch specials are great too. Everything was not good at all. A friend also got a larger order of food to go as well. Her food was awful as well. Both of us ended throwing everything out because of how awful it was.
