Drive up to Stillwater to visit my daughter. I skipped breakfast because I'd the long drive. I love Chinese so stopped into the Golden Dragon for a quick lunch because I was starving. The restaurant is clean and the staff are wonderful and friendly. I ordered egg drop soup, 1 egg roll, Jasmine tea, and Cashew chicken. There was something seriously wrong with the soup. It was NOT good and the crispy noodles were very bitter. Like they haven't changed their oil in a month. Gross I spoke with possibly the owner and he said he doesn't eat the soup. He didn't sound like he was going to taste it to check. The egg roll was absolutely delicious! I could have eaten 4 of them. My entree was generic and salty. Most of the menu has the same brown sauce, so don't expect the dishes to have much difference in flavor profile. All in all, my review is generous at best. read more

Went there for a late lunch. Wait person promptly took our order. We all ordered won ton soup to start. The soup was barely lukewarm. We were as a result a little leery about eating it. That concern was solved when we elected to continue eating, it was the worst won ton all of us had ever eaten, prompting us to stop. It got worse. Two of us had shrimp chow mien which we found uneatable. My wife had sesame shrimp and after a few bites pushed he plate to the center of the table, unwilling to eat any more. Service was essentially nonexistent. Food was delivered by what looked like the cook. We saw the wait person for a few seconds mid way through our stay and while we waited for the check she never came back! The only thing worse than the absent service is the food. This used to be a good Chinese restaurant but it appears the place has changed hands. We could not recognize anyone the that we have seen before working there. This might be one of the worst Chinese restaurants we have ever been to. Will never go back. read more

We all know that customer service these days is abysmal in most places, but Golden Dragon evidently didn't get the memo. After a 9 hour drive, I had a special request and they bent over backward to accommodate me. Every staff member I interacted with was relaxed, polite, authentic. Ordered lo mein and it came with the right amount of a tasty sauce, fresh vegetables, piping hot. I'm traveling through from south Texas, but I will certainly come again if my travels bring me back. a few months back, my partner was visiting her sister at osu & made a stop at golden dragon cafe before coming back to tulsa. i had the fried rice with tofu. i think the spice level was around 3. i wasn't familiar with this spot so i played it safe with the spice level (i LOVE spicy food) & level 3 did its job. it was super good & had so much left over, so much that i had it for the next 2-3 days. recently, i was in stillwater taking senior photos at osu & my partner's parents ended up getting our order. i got the same thing as last time except with chicken at level 5 with the spice. the fried rice was just as good as i had it the first time around when it was brought to me & the spice was subtle. it was a sunday, it's now tuesday & i STILL have plenty left (i plan on finishing it today). if you want food to hold you over, good food at that, this is your spot. with being leftovers, the flavor gets better & better each time i had it for the days. they have a lot to choose from between chinese & thai. soup, lo mein, fried rice, etc... maybe one day i'll actually sit in the establishment to enjoy the food instead of having my food compacted in a to-go container. read more

I've been told this was one of the best Asian restaurants in Stillwater, if not the best. Stillwater is a southern/lower Midwestern College town, so the bar is not exactly high. I went in the summertime when flies were plentiful. My food came out hot, fastand what might expect from a more Americanized Asian restaurant. That being said, I expected a layered medley of flavors. I did not get that. I could also tell where they cut corners with certain ingredients. I think the average Oklahoma will like this restaurant, but I am always leery of Asian restaurants that don't have any Asian customers in them. However , Stillwater does not have a sizable Asian population, so they have to play to their American clientele. For what it is, I would say the food is pretty fair. The service was top-notch. It was nice and quiet in there. Good for a decent lunch, and definitely friendly for a big crowd. read more

My Mom and I went for lunch today, yes it was busy at 11:30, but we were seated, got drink orders and appetizers almost immediately..the petite female waitress was extremely efficient and respectful. We were in and out in less than 40 minutes and had so much food left over from the "lunch menu" that we both had to-go boxes...Food was fantastic and the service was awesome!!!! read more

The outside is deceiving but, I was pleasantly surprised when we walked into this place for dinner tonight. It reminds me of a nicer Wahaha (favorite Asian food in Edmond). The air is struggling so it was hot but a very clean and eye appealing atmosphere. The waitress we had was again perfectly attentive (I'm starting to remember what a great waiting staff looks like everywhere we go) and the good quality for the price I thought was very fair. Not cheap but not grossly expensive. My kids loved their meals and the scoop of ice cream at the end was icing on the cake (they had strawberry, vanilla or chocolate). I had the Panang curry and it was good but definitely not the best I've ever had. I would try another curry dish next time I come. We had tried this place when we first moved to Stillwater. It was really bad. Because there is not much for Chinese in the area and after an almost 2 year personal ban, I tried it again. Much better. I'm a simple man that grew up on sweet and sour pork. This was much improved from the last experience. I've had it twice as takeout and both times were good. I came here for lunch with my new coworkers in ordered from the Thai menu a curry. We had a head of 16 people and our waitress was varied attentive when you walk in. It is a very busy full place, but everyone looks happy and you can tell that they leave full.I will say that for a small town it is probably the nicest Chinese and Thai food that they have and that if you need a nice meal, I do recommend to go there. Once inside, we were greeted with the thrilling game of "Guess Your Drink" because, apparently, everything had vanished into the void overnight. While in Stillwater for the 2023 Special Olympics, The Wife and I needed a chinese fix, and Golden Dragon Cafe popped up as being both highly rated and close to our hotel. We arrived around 6 and were promptly seated. Drink and app orders were taken and we were left to check out the offerings. There are a lot of seriously good looking items on the menu, but in the end, we played it a little safe and stayed with what we were familiar with, albeit at other locations, this being our first outing to the Golden Dragon. Egg rolls and egg drop soup me, and fried dumplings for The Wife, which were shared. The egg rolls were the disappointment of the evening. They weren't bad, they just had nothing going for them. The dumplings were fantastic, and the sorta hot sauce on the side the perfect accompaniment. The egg drop soup had a rich flavor and good body to it. Soup is something often overlooked in restaurants, and if you get a good one for an app, you can almost always be the cooks are attentive and care about what they're doing, which proved to be the case. The Basil Fried Rice was nothing short of phenomenal. As a fried rice snob, I exist in a vertiable wasteland of fried rice in the Tulsa area. How no one can seem to make such a simple dish worth eating escapes me completely. This stuff tho.... man, it was great. Well seasoned, the rice was textured perfectly and balanced with the right amount of additions. Had we not also ordered two other entrees to share, I would have cleaned house on it. The Beef Lo Mein was also well done. A little more saucy than I prefer, it was nonetheless a great offering. Noodles cooked properly, tender slices of beef and celery. I would have liked to see some onion, scallion and bean sprouts, but that's a personal preference, and in no way a criticism of the dish. The Chicken Chow Mein arrived late to the table, but when it got there it was well received. Tender pieces of dark meat chicken surrounded by properly sized bites of vegetables (lots of places seem to cut their veg too big) in a rich sauce. Nothing at all wrong with this one. Wait staff were on point, friendly and courteous. If I had one of these places close to home, I'd be a regular. read more

We have tried this place numerous times in the past few years. It rarely disappointed, until several years ago when one of our dinner's came with a six-legged surprise. They were very kind about it, comping both meals, although my partner couldn't finish their meal. It took quite a few more months before we felt good about going back. This time it was the service that fell short. I scooted my chair up to the table and since the metal chair was not all together correct, I got a finger stuck in between two metal pieces. While there was no blood, there was a lot of pain, and unfortunately, no sympathy from the wait staff. No amount of talking will convince my partner to go back, and that makes me sad because their curry soups are really very good. read more

My husband and I went there to eat last night for NYE. We were really looking forward to it since it had been so delicious the last time. Such a disappointment! My food was HORRIBLE! I ordered sweet and sour chicken and steamed rice. I got battered chicken bites with 4 limp pieces of onion and ice cold chunks of pineapple. No bell pepper and most importantly NO sauce! They brought out a separate bowl of sweet n sour sauce and cold rice. No soup. No knives. My husband's General Tso's chicken was good. They ran out of fried rice....at 6:30pm on a holiday! I was pleasantly surprised by how great the food was and how cheap! This is an Asian fusion restaurant that has Chinese, hotpot, Thai, and Vietnamese influences. Usually, I would stray away from fusion restaurants, but I was happy to have this experience. Stillwater is very lucky to have this as an option for dining. It feeds the need for every type of Asian food desire. As far as the food, we had a lot to enjoy and it covered two meals for my family and I. Leftovers were just as good as what we had the night before, so don't hesitate to warm up your meal. The portions are huge and it would be difficult to finish everything you have just on one order. The service is great, the menu is very diverse and extensive, the quality and taste of the food is amazing, and the ambiance inside of the restaurant is very relaxed and low key. I loved getting takeout from here in my college days and always try to go if I am in town. There shrimp fried rice is the best that I have ever had and I love that you can decide your spice level.
