Hit or miss on the spice level. We always ask for the same spicy level but sometimes it's too spicy and sometimes not enough. Shouldn't there be a standard when you ask for a spicy level? We've been to this location a few times. The food is consistently good and the staff is friendly and attentive. Some of my favorites are the veg. spring rolls, red curry, pad thai and the garlic stir-fry. They have huge portions so we always have left overs for later. I've been to the Panang 9 before in Yukon, and this Panang 2 is smaller and feels older. We came on a Monday for lunch, my group of 8 colleagues. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our server took our drink orders; when I asked for sweet tea, he informed me there was only unsweet, but didn't offer or bring me the packets of sugar I saw on another patron's table. My colleagues highly recommend the Thai tea - tea with (what I believe is) half and half. I ordered the pad Thai with veggies and tofu. I've experienced the tofu in smaller cuts before and these were not marinated very thoroughly. The veggie cuts were huge. The (pork?) roll was unexpected as well as the sweet and not so sour dipping sauce. The noodles themselves were delish but were stretchy - and not in the best way. Shouldn't they break when pulled apart? Eventually? The server didn't ask for our desired spice level, which would have made this dish so much better if I had remembered to ask for more spice. Oh well, it's such a large portion, I always end up taking some home and reheating it myself on the stove and I add my own spice back in. I recommend the Panang 9 in Yukon over this location. read more

With the exception of vegetable rolls that are $11+ food has been pretty good, tasty, and seem to be all fresh ingredients. The vegetable rolls with peanut sauce is the worst I've ever had! They roll bagged, brown salad mix in one sliver or piece of cucumber depending on the day, and rice. That's it! $11+! It's not a vegetable roll! It's day old salad mix from a bag ‍ Ordered several times to make sure it wasn't a fluke. Nope. Consistent across the board. So everything else being great but the one item I love looks and lacks its ingredients will keep me from returning. Very good food, but the one on the south side is better and has way better customer service. Sometimes this location likes to serve smaller amounts as well. They just don't have it together like the south side panang. If you ask for a couple of extra limes on a to go order they want to charge you, but if you sit down and eat, you can have as many as you like. I have been coming here for years ( mainly the southside location because it is better ) and they just recently started doing this. When you pay $17 for fried rice, you should be able to add a couple of limes for free. read more

Tom Yum with Shrimp - tonight I had a take out order and the soup was not good. There were only tomatoes and mushrooms in the broth along with shrimp, and not very much either. I paid $25 for soup that was very overpriced. The website says 10.99, with noodles is $3.00 dollars, although when you get to the total, it's $25. Rough math says $10.99 + $3.00 is $14.00 plus tax. There was no other charges on there that described the difference in price. I told them their pricing is deceptive and they just stood there. Not impressed at all. Save your money. My coworker and I decided we wanted Thai food for dinner. We found Panang 2 on Yelp and wanted to try it out. Since it was 20° out, we wanted comfort food and settled on their curries. He had the Green Curry. I chose the Evil Jungle Chicken Curry. According to him, it was one of the best curries he's had. For me, my food was delicious. The Evil Jungle was sweet and spicy. The chicken was minced, which I didn't mind. The chicken in the Green Curry was chunks of meat. All of the spices danced together in one big harmony. So yummy and delicious!! Each bowl comes with a pile of white rice. Honestly, I didn't need the rice but I did scoop some spoonfuls into my bowl. While on a business trip, I had a hankering for Thai food. Panang2 was not too far from my hotel, so I stopped by with a few coworkers for dinner. The restaurant was not very busy for a Friday night, so we were seated right away. The menu had a lot of options, but I opted to stick with the tried-and-true Pad Thai chicken. Portions are huge and the dish hit the spot. Not too sweet, plenty of veggies, and I liked that you could tell they used fresh julienne'd carrots and other veggies. I've had this location #2 twice. The first time was many years ago! But this Thai food is still as good as it was the first time. The wait staff were great. And the inside is quiet and peaceful. One of my favorite restaurant in OKC but this timeI tried something new. The seafood Tom Yum Soup was out of this world!! If you like seafood I highly recommend this soup. Large portions are not enough. My (toddler) children can eat Panang2's food without any problems, that's how dull it usually is. Anyone who tells you that Panang2 has the best (or most flavorful) Thai food is someone: 1. who is terribly wrong 2. with weak taste-buds 3. who is overly involved with their HOA (I'm sayin' y'all like upper middle-class levels of safe) 4. you shouldn't trust to know much about Thai food as a whole Panang2's lunch specials are popular, but it's pretty obvious that all the lunch special items (the pad thai, the curries of the day, etc.) are made in large batches. And because they have to pander to the lowest common denominator (as far as customers with the ability to handle strong flavors), these large batch items all end up being super bland. Then based on how much spice you say you can handle when you order from the lunch menu, they just throw additional spice on top after the fact. Ultimately, it doesn't matter what you pick, you'll end up in the same dissatisfied place (like when I'd make different choices on a Choose Your Own Adventure book, but I'd die regardless of what path I chose). To summarize, I'ma just quote my wife: "... yeah, it's a lot of food, but it's a lot of boring food." Fight me on this, you boring people. P.S. the spring roll is dope. Excellent Thai food with just the right amount of spice. I believe you can adjust the level of heat when you order. The lunch specials are the way to go, with a generous amount of food. This also allows you to try a few things from the menu. I have not had one thing that I didn't love. Yesterday I called to place a food order for my friend to pick up today for a party. I clearly listed every dish I wanted, and the male staff member repeated everything back to me. I even paid the full amount upfront instead of just a deposit. But today, not only was the order incomplete, they also put chicken in every single dish which was NOT what I ordered. They insisted I had asked for chicken, and claimed the rice dish included beef, even though there was absolutely no beef at all! To make things worse, a different (female) staff member told me they only charged for what they actually made. But here's the ridiculous part when I spoke to the male staff member, I ordered additional items, and they didn't even list the individual items on the receipt! So how can they confidently say I wasn't overcharged?! This whole experience was frustrating and unprofessional. And to top it off, I drove one hour just to pick up the food. Never coming back, and absolutely won't recommend this place to anyone! read more

I was not impressed with this location as the spring rolls we were served were burnt. The people were nice but I probably won't be back to this location after the sloppy presentation. Some of the best thai food I've ever had. If I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life it would be the Tom Kha coconut soup. WOW. Just wow. The only other place I know makes their soup this good is Saigon Cafe in Atlanta. Same with the Masaman curry. I could eat this every single day of my life. FAVORITE THAI EVER. As a couple who went to Thailand for our honeymoon for a month, I literally can say this place is our absolute favorite Thai restaurant ever. There's just nothing like the consistency and deliciousness Panang has! We have our go tos- one being the original Panang curry. Even in Thailand, we didn't get the depth of flavor like we did on street foods as we did here. The creaminess, depth of flavor and just overall goodness is hard to replicate. AND ITS ALWAYS CONSISTENTLY GOOD! We also always get the spicy basil fried rice which is always consistently good too. And our other favorite, the pad Thai with flat noodles. I will say, the pad Thai is where we see some inconsistency on the flavors and overall taste and juiciness of the sauce that the pad Thai typically has. Sometimes it can be a little drier, which is not what we typically like but overall, Panang is where it's at. We will ALWAYS be back as it's a huge staple in our house at least once a month. This is the 3rd Panang location I have tried, I had a great dinning experience. The food and service were outstanding. They have a great balance of dishes that are savory, sweet and spicy. I ordered the Soy-Sauce noodles (aka Drunken Noodles in most Thai food restaurants) that are savory, and Garlic Stir-fry, which has a sweet and spicy flavor profile. The dishes complemented each other perfectly. The portions were huge and I chose a protein for each dish. I chose pork for one dish and shrimp for the other dish. They gave a large amount of protein in both dishes. This is a great place for a vegetarian/vegan to find a meal, because every entrée tofu or vegetables can be selected as the protein instead of meat. Choosing the meatless options does not take away the amazing flavor. I highly recommend this restaurant if you enjoy Thai food or would like to try Thai food. read more
