This is one of the best places to eat good "Chinese" food in the area in my opinion. I have ate here numerous times and each time I have not been disappointed. This is more of a buffet style of restaurant, but you can order off of a menu as well if wanted. They have the usual style of food typical of any Chinese restaurant that most Americans enjoy. The cook is the operator of the establishment and keeps up with the buffet very well. The atmosphere is basic. I would say that many people do not go here for that. The place could use some tidying up, but nothing major at all. Inside is clean and the waitresses do a fast job at clearing tables. If it is busy, sometimes I have had to ask for a refill(which I myself don't mind to do), so some might be perturbed by that. It is not a large place either. The taste of the food is typical of other restaurants, what I call basic Chinese. LOL There are usually many people in there, and even some who come in and take off of the food bar to eat out, so the food doesn't get to sit around long, which in turn makes everything fresh. The only problem I have nowadays with the place is that prices have went up, so it is more expensive to eat here than it used to be. Perhaps that is the going thing with the economy, but it seems like more so here. If you don't mind paying a little more for a above decent place for Chinese and you are in the area, I would recommend it. I rate this a low 4/5. read more

This place sucks! I have always ate at china house on top of 3rd street. I thought I would try Golden dragon. There employees suck and There portion size is small we ordered 3 large orders and all of them only had 7 peace's or chicken smaller than a Chick-fil-A chicken nugget. You could tell that every thing has been reheated. I do not recommend this place. Definitely go to tai express or China house. I hope Johnny morass buys them out. read more

My wife and I were looking for Chinese on a Saturday night before sitting down to watch the LSU football game and we ended up going here (mainly because the restaurant we wanted to try, Hong Kong Inn, was closed). We ordered the Korean BBQ Beef and the General Chicken. I have never eaten something so flavorless and plain in my life - that's BOTH meals! It was edible but not something I saved for left overs. This is a big deal for me to write this review. Since a little kid, growing up in the ozark Missouri area, golden dragon has provided a familiar, yet substantially different take on the "Springfield cashew chicken" scene. Although it may seem no different than any other Chinese place at first glance, this restaurant provides excellent service, and locals can stand by this. Consistency, to me, is the biggest key in any effective business to provide return customers, and this place ALWAYS delivers. The General chicken is out of this world and the young's spicy chicken is a staple for people who have been around long enough to where it was a "secret" off-menu item. I cannot recommend this little place enough, as it is always my go to Chinese restaurant when I come back home, and I almost refuse to go any where else. Help this place out, and don't let the almost annual "Finley river flood" scare you off, because that has seemingly never detoured the owners to move from their centrally located quaint little place in ozark. read more

The taste is fresh and very good! The service has always been satisfactory. I always call in my order and pick it up. Always hot and ready. The actual facility is...in need of a good refurb. You get the impression that it's a dump when you drive around back to pick up a to go order....but...looks aren't everything. Very very disappointed. The food is BLAN. Like no flavor, no taste, nothing. I asked for my meal to be made spicy and I got some red powder sprinkled on it. Best Springfield style cashew chicken I've had in my life. I've been eating their food since I was in the womb. Everyone in my family has eaten here since before I was born. The fried rice is simply perfect. Amazing flavor. The chicken is always fresh and of superb quality. The sauce is a perfect blend of sweet and salty. Their prices are terrific whether you're single and grabbing a quick take out dinner through their drive thru or you've got children and are eating inside. They have child sizes. The service is always good the people are always super friendly. There is definitely a very very good reason why they've been in business for over thirty years. I would give this minus stars if I could. Ordered two meals to go. Mine was the Generals chicken which tops my favorites list, so I have eaten a lot of Generals chicken. When I got home and opened the container I thought they had given me the wrong order. Soggy pieces of chicken floating in a red sauce that was totally tasteless except for being so salty you couldn't eat it. The only thing that came with it was a small container of plain white rice, not fried rice the menu stated. We also ordered egg rolls and wontons which of course we paid for and did not get. Was going to return the whole order but they were not answering their phone and were closed. You couldn't pay me to try this place again. Was very disappointed! read more

Eat there frequently when I work in Ozark. The lunch specials are perfect size and a great deal. I've done their egg foo yung before also, and am impressed. The atmosphere isn't much, but for inexpensive filling Chinese without having to go to Springfield, this is a good bargain. read more

I've been going to Golden Dragon for over thirty years, and it's always felt like I'm sitting in a family member's kitchen. I grew up on Springfield-style cashew chicken, and while the Dragon prepares the dish a little differently than Leong's, it's still amazing. Everything always comes out of the kitchen piping hot and fresh. Best fried rice and eggrolls around. Their spicy dishes aren't very spicy, I will admit, but I've never had a bad meal here. Even though I now live about four hours away, I still try to get down to Golden Dragon and Mexican Villa every couple of months because there is simply NO local substitute in St. Louis or Columbia or KC. Nothing has ever come close. My favorite dish is the Shrimp with Oyster Sauce--for thirty years, and hopefully for thirty more. read more
