Different than any Chinese restaurant I have ever been to. They give you fried chunks of chicken with no flavor then you poor your sauce of choice on to your food. Sesame chicken is what I had. Usually it is cooked in the sauce. Flavor was not great. Probably my last visit. It was only one open on Sunday. Cleanest restaurant you will find inside, staff was friendly. Needs the weeds pulled in parking lot not a great first impression. read more

Some of the worst Chinese food I've ever had. If you could even call it Chinese food. Chicken was tasteless and unseasoned. The sauce was even worse. Bland. Egg drop soup tasted like a corn starch slurry mixed with a tiny bit of egg white and MSG. I took a few bites and threw the rest away. Service was good. read more

They have made so many changes recently; not good ones. The menu has changed.. apparently they have removed the non-breaded chicken from the menu. Not everyone wants breaded chicken; very dry breaded chicken at that. They have decreased the amount of sauce that comes with the meals, and they charge about $1 for extra sauce. The staff has been rude to us when we ask questions about the changes. We have been eating there for over 10 years, but after several attempts to "give it another chance " we have decided not to go back there. Changes happen, but good customer service goes a long way in cushioning the blows of those negative changes. Their customer service is definitely lacking. read more

This place is so good. I like the shrimp with garlic sauce. It's spicy and sweet and I crave it all the time. I definitely recommend.

Ahhhhh another fantastic Springfield Cashew Chicken restaurant, which if you know me at all means I love it. When I was in High School at Ozark, they used to cater in lunch meals that were available for purchase in the cafeteria and needless to say I ate my fair share of Hong Kong inn back then so I make my way back to this place every now and again. I love their Cashew, General, and Ozark offers "House" chicken, which is probably my favorite. They may have the best egg rolls in town as well. The combo plates are a lot of food but if you just returned from being stranded on a deserted island you may want to get the Large order. One of my only beefs with this place is they don't have any table side service which is okay but I think new comers don't realize this and scratch their head as to why the cashier hasn't come by to refill their drinks, so you have to take it up front and get them to refill it for you. Thats literally the only thing in this place I don't love. One more thing I do love is that they are open on Sundays so they get all of my Cashew Chicken Craving business on Sundays because none of the other Chinese places close by are open on Sundays! read more

So as you know, I"m a sucker for Springfield cashew chicken. My all time favorite place is Hong Kong Inn on the north side of Springfield, off of Glenstone and Division. Friends of mine who live in Ozark advised that they opened a location in their town. I thought this would be fantastic because we are always in south Springfield, Nixa or Ozark when we visit. The drive to north Springfield can seem like torture after driving the 8 1/2 hours from Chicago. We stopped in on a Wednesday afternoon. I think it was around 3pm. My first clue should have been there was not another soul in this place. I asked the cashier if this place was the same as my favorite spot in Springfield. She said "yes, the sister owns this store and all the recipes are the same." The menu was very similar if not exactly the same and the prices were close or identical as well. One thing I hate about these two places, is that they charge you for drink refills. So you get a cup full of ice with just a little bit of soda or tea in it. Then you start to eat the salty food and you have to go back to the counter a couple times during the meal to have numerous 25 cent charges added to you debit. I find this super annoying. increase the cost of soda and make refills free or for the love of god, ease up on the ice. Rant over....... So back to the food. I'm only basing this on the cashew chicken meal and crab rangoons. It was very similar, but it wasn't the same. The only thing that tastes exactly the same for me was the egg roll. Trust me on this one, I've been going to the other one since the 90's. So it wasn't super awful like our experience at the China King, but it was super disappointing. If you are going to represent yourself as one in the same, you need to make sure everything is made exactly the same. If you live in the area and can get to the one on the north side whenever you want, and this is just a quick fix for a day, yeah go ahead and eat here. If you live out of town and you want the stuff you grew up on, make the drive to the restaurant on the north side of town. Any substitution here will just be met with disappointment. One great thing about this place was the cashier. She was super friendly and helpful. That's something you really don't get at the other location, just sayin'....... read more

Ate there yesterday for lunch and it was ok. Had the combination lo mien and it was good. Really good crab ragoon, ok egg roll. Food came out at a decent pace so that was nice for the lunch hour. This is an order at the counter then they bring the food to you joint so don't expect to be wined and dined. read more

The Ozark location....something is wrong with the fried chicken dishes. It has a...twang? Not sure how to describe it other than that. It's not any particular dish -it's the actual fried they use for all the chicken dishes. Maybe it is the oil they use, or some odd ingredient they use. The other local locations don't taste like that. It's bad. I've tried most of the Chinese joints in the area and...something is off. I hate it because they are very convenient and I think the cheapest, but I avoid it because that 'twang' is noticeable and makes the the meal just taste...odd. Shame. Tried it a few times thinking it was just a bad batch...but...same taste over the last few years. Fried rice and other stuff is fine. read more

My favorite chinese food in Ozark! Second in the area behind, Mr. Yen's. But that's only because Mr. Yen's has the best crab ragoon I've ever had. Hong Kong Inn takes the prize for Sweet and Sour chicken (which is what I get everytime). Service is fast and friendly. It's great to see a restaurant survive in it's location. Great food, great service. And if you become a regular (which I've managed to do), the managment treats you like family. Which is oh-so-nice. read more

My family and I have ordered food from this restaurant for years typically using the drive thru. The food is great but we have had a lot of problems getting all of our items with our order. The most common thing that gets left out is the condiments. Recently we place a fairly large food order in the drive thru and I when I got home I realized we didn't get our duck sauce which is very important to my family. So my husband drove back to the restaurant and went inside to let them know what had happened and that this seems to be a regular occurrence. The two young workers in the front were very courteous and kept saying how sorry they were. But when the young gentleman went to talk to the manager my husband could hear her going off in the kitchen area about how he was wrong because she remembered putting it in our bag of food. Apparently she was being rather rude about it so my husband asked that she come up front to speak to him. The woman came up front where she yelled at my husband repeatedly saying she had put the duck sauce in the bag and he was not getting anymore. She also kept putting her hands in his face. There were other customers in the restaurant, including children, so my husband kept his cool. But the woman was throwing such a fit that two other groups of people who were waiting in line left the restaurant. One gentleman told her he would never come back if she treated her customers that way and she responded by saying, "Good, don't come back!". So my husband told her we would never be back and she had the same response for him. My husband eventually left the restaurant because he knew he was getting no where. The two teenagers working up front were mortified and kept apologizing. My husband made sure to grab a handful of the FREE duck sauce sitting on the counter as he walked out the door.
