Time to say goodbye. Crossing that bridge with me.
    Cari S.

You will never feel better at such a emotional time. They will take of you from the start to the end. Recommend these folks 110%!

    Our beloved Pino

This past weekend, Dr brian guided my family and i through the most difficult decision we've ever had to make - telling our beloved 15 year old black lab goodbye. Dr Brian was compassionate, caring, respectful and honest with our decision. He never rushed the process and answered all of our questions without judgement. During the procedure, Dr Brian was our strength and leader. To that end, his true gift was his ability to become small in our moment of extreme pain and heartache. His demeanor, soft spoken voice and professionalism allowed us to cry and fully grieve the last moments of our dog's life. The process was painful but beautiful at the same time and we owe it all to Dr Brian.

Lovely ceramic paw print ornament for our dog Rei. This disc has a good weight to it so add enough ribbon and place on a strong branch.

My family and I cannot thank Dr. Brian Van Horn and Jennifer enough for their excellent service and compassion during this very emotional process. Our beloved 16 year-old shiba inu, Rei, was deteriorating and we decided to let her go this past Christmas Eve 2017. Due to the holidays, our regular mobile vet was unavailable. I called several providers and spoke with a few doctors, but chose Golden Gate because their process seemed much more streamlined than the other hospitals. Also Jennifer (who took my call) was just an angel! Seriously, she was so compassionate, thorough and simply a kind person. During the actual appointment, Dr. Van Horn was soft-spoken, gentle, and patient with our grieving family. We couldn't have asked for a better ending for our lovely dog. He treated our baby with the utmost respect. We opted for the private cremation and urn. This service comes with a beautiful, robust ceramic disc with paw print and stand. However, I paid for 1 additional ceramic paw print, which I asked to be made into an ornament. The way this works is Golden Gate works with an outside company that prepares the ashes, as well as the ceramic paw print. You simply order this via Jennifer and she will let you know when everything is ready for pick-up (or mailing). The ornament came out lovely! There was a hole drilled at the top where I simply inserted ribbon. I will post a picture of the ornament for reference. Thanks again Dr. Van Horn, Jennifer, and the rest of your team for the phenomenal work you do.

Dr Van Horn, Jennifer, Zayn and the rest of the staff are literally the best vet team I have ever been exposed to. I'll have more to say in the future, but even during the COVID pandemic they gave our Willow the best care and compassion. They very responsive and compassionate-not just for the pet's well being but to the entire family impacted. I'm grieving now, but this practice existing is maybe the only reason I could ever see having a dog again.

I dreaded this moment soon after we adopted Sasha, our sweet shepherd girl. She had a healthy three years with us and we fell in love. So you can imagine the agony when, at 10, she fell ill and was diagnosed with Lymphoma. Over the next month we watched her degrade from one of the most healthy and active 10-year-olds to a poor, broken old dog. But like all good dogs, her spirits were high right until the end and we had a great time, even as her body increasingly slowed her down. A couple of weeks in I gave Golden Gate a call so they could do a consultation. This part is helpful, because they will check out the animal help teach you what some signs of pain and suffering are, so you can make the best decision. On her last day, I noticed she went under my desk, which is something she did when she was scared of something or sick. When she wouldn't eat even her treats, we knew we had reached the end. We called Golden Gate again and they agreed to be out the same evening. After arriving, they went over what to expect (they're very good at this, at all phases), and were never once pushy about moving along. They gave us time to say goodbye, and then we got the only thing I could wish for our pretty girl... That she died peacefully and comfortably, on her own blanket and in the home she loved being in. More importantly, surrounded by us, her family who did the best we could to make sure she wouldn't live to suffer one more painful day than she had to. After it was done, they let us be alone with her, and again, never hurried us. I requested to carry her like I had done so often the last few days, and they understood. I will never forget taking her away that one last time, and while sad, is a memory I'll cherish along with the many more great ones. It takes a special kind of person to do this kind of work well, and I'm so glad that Dr. Van Horn and team do this. They know that everyone who calls has a pet they care for dearly, and they treat every animal with the same love. They will never have a "satisfied" customer, but knowing the alternatives we are grateful because of the respect Golden Gate showed us and Sasha.

Our sweet 11 yr old Rottweiller was diagnosed with bone cancer several weeks ago. She had problems with her legs most of her life, having had dysplasia surgery in both front elbows and both knees replaced. She was always a trooper and recovered well but in the past 2 years she had developed arthritis and had more difficulty getting around. When her limp became worse even with medication we feared something else was wrong. Unfortunately we were correct, she had a large bone tumor(osteosarcoma) and her prognosis was not good. We decided to manage her pain until she was ready to go. We kept her comfortable for the last two weeks but it become very difficult for her to stand or walk without assistance and we could tell she was in considerable pain when her meds were wearing off. Ellie never liked the vet office, it made her very stressed and anxious so her doctor recommended Golden Gate Veterinary. I made the appointment for Saturday evening and we had a few more beautiful days together. Ellie was never very friendly to strangers in our house but to my surprise, she loved Dr Van Horn and Jenn. They explained everything very well and let us know what to expect. We held her through the process and told her we love her. She was never stressed or uncomfortable and it was very peaceful. Dr Van Horn and Jenn are extremely compassionate and helped us through a difficult time...We will always be grateful to them. We love and miss you Ellie..

Dr. Araba and her skilled technician Jennifer visited us today for the 1st Vet appt of our 12-wk old Great Pyrenees puppy. We had many questions ready, but her New Puppy Topics sheet and detailed verbal share answered all of our questions, and of course, all of the questions we didn't even know to ask. She was ready to explain vaccination Qs for travel (LA, valley, Tahoe. as well as planned international), grooming, micro-chipping, et al. Finally, we have a very experienced dog-trainer in our group and Dr. Araba was able to connect his expertise to her own recommendations, also bridging the gap for my own dated dog-raising history. Cannot recommend her enough. We're looking forward to enjoying the support of Dr. Araba as our puppy heads from 16 lb to 95 lb!!

We contacted Blue Sparrow immediately after accepting the fact that we'd be starting hospice care for my dog and could lose him any time. Due to the placement of his tumor, we decided that we needed a veterinarian to come to our home as we didn't want to risk putting him into the car. Immediately after the first appointment, Dr. Araba recommended a series of supplements that relieved his joint pain, and brought him back to a higher quality of life. In fact, we got nearly 20 additional months with him after having him see Dr. Araba for the first time. While it's sad to know that Tiger has crossed the rainbow bridge, I find comfort in knowing that I chose a veterinarian + staff that provided him the highest level of care and compassion. In fact, Tiger would even jump around and be excited at Dr. Araba's arrival for his regular appointment. Everyone at this practice cares SO much about the well being of your furry friend. I can't recommend them enough. Know your loved one is in good hands if they're being seen by Blue Sparrow!

When I contacted Restful Paws, I didn't know what to expect. In fact, I felt bad crying on the phone because I couldn't imagine trying to talk to someone like me at that moment. But the staff couldn't be more understanding and supportive. Unlike making end of life decisions for your fur baby, the process of scheduling this appointment was very easy. Restful Paws asked all the right questions, set the expectations, and made this process that much easier. And on the day of, Dr. Ami arrived promptly at the scheduled time. She was very caring and understanding, and she put all of us at ease. We could not have asked for a better last day for our Sodapop. Weeks later, we received a card from Dr. Ami sending us her condolences. Thank you, Restful Paws, for doing the service that you do. We were able to find a weekend availability which was best scenario so everyone could attend. Dr. Vine was very punctual the day of and gave us a thorough breakdown of what to expect (pain reliever, anesthesia, and euthanasia). We didn't feel rushed at any point, and we were given ample time before proceeding to each stage. She was very respectful and the process was smooth. After the euthanasia, we were able to choose where we wanted the fur clippings. The paw print was perfectly imprinted with Christy's name, which added such a sweet personal touch. We chose to pickup Christy's ashes at Sage, and it was quick. The only thing is it felt very jarring going to an animal hospital filled with so many people and dogs. Considering this was only 2 weeks after the euthanasia, I was still grieving and it was difficult being in that environment so soon. The only feedback I'd give is it'd be more mindful if there was a separate pickup location away from everyone else for more privacy. Dr. Vine sent a sympathy card as well and it was very sweet. Thank you so much for giving Christy such a respectful experience and having her pass comfortably and peacefully. I will definitely recommend this organization to loved ones! Thank you Dr. Vine for such a smooth experience. You made this process much easier and we were able to focus on grieving afterwards. Rest in peace, sweet Christy!
