I was looking for a mobile pet vet to help me with my aging kitty, but sadly, their phone message says they are not accepting new patients.

I was calling around from San Mateo to Westborough trying to get quotes before booking an appointment and inquiring about what kinds of tests and treatments would possibly be needed for Boba's condition. Masson was the only place that I felt was genuinely there to help you without digging a hole into your pocket. They were the only place that could give me a rough dollar amount. And I completely understand quotes can be inaccurate because you can't diagnose over the phone. Jasmine was the first staff I spoke to there, she was warm, kind and knowledgeable. She was the initial reason I chose to book with Masson. And I have found so many more reasons to stay. Dr. Tais is patient and truly cares about your pet. Our appointments didn't feel rushed, she took the time to hear me out with what happened to Boba and answered questions and explained things thoroughly to me. Treatments and quotes were explained upfront and I didn't feel like she was trying to push any unnecessary tests or treatments. Yesterday I had called in with some follow up questions for Dr. Tais, not sure who I spoke to on the phone, but she was also amazing. Took great notes and this morning I received a call from Brook, answering my questions from the previous day. I feel so grateful to have found such a wonderful place. It's stressful when your fur baby is sick but everyone we've come across has been exceptional.

Buddy had Cushing's disease, numerous lipomas removed, and a big tooth and gum infection that Dr. Roossien helped us mend. Once he had hyperparathyroidism, she advised us that we should see specialists and gave us recommendations on who to see. Buddy also struggled with sensitivity to medications, so she's help us find the right medication and dosage for him. When the specialists we took him to didn't dedicate enough time to help us (MedVet) Dr. Roossien worked up a plan to help us move forward with his care until his very last days. Dr. Roossien is the type of person to walk you through your pet's care and give you different options based on their health and financials. We often joked that we wished she was our doctor. She took amazing care of Buddy and shows a great amount of genuine care. We followed Dr. Roossien from her previous practice in San Mateo, however we loved San Bruno Pet Hospital so much more. Even if we had to go further, she was worth it and we loved the staff that were equally caring and showed enthusiasm when they'd see all their doggie clients arrive. Even on the phone they'd maintain their sunny demeanor- especially Allie, whom I remember helping us most. That's not to say the other staff wasn't ready to help and pleasant as well. The facility was always clean and I liked the setup in the waiting room. The parking lot is ample, but do leave with caution since incoming traffic can become congested at the light upon exiting. I can't thank you all for how much you helped our boy throughout his years.

Scheduling was easy, the staff was friendly, and overall we had a positive experience, aside from about $500 in recommended services that I declined. My dog was originally seen for an anal gland expression and two vaccinations. She has anxiety and knocked over a staff member during the first visit, so the clinic recommended Trazodone and Acepromazine for future appointments. I followed their advice, and our next visits went smoothly. A year later, I called to schedule another appointment and was surprised to be told they no longer wanted to see my dog. I wasn't given an explanation, but when I requested her records, I saw she had been labeled as aggressive. This had never been an issue at Claremont Vet Hospital. The lack of transparency was disappointing, especially since my dog was due for routine vaccinations. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend this clinic for owners of large, anxious dogs that require extra handling, even when medicated.

Trips to the Vet were very stressful for Stormy so we looked for a Vet who makes house calls and found Dr. Bolivar. During his first visit with Stormy, his calm demeanor and gentle examination resulted in a relaxed and stress free Stormy. It was obvious that Dr. Bolivar was an experienced professional and not only does he love what he does but he loves the creatures that he tends to and our Stormy seemed to trust him instinctively. Dr Bolivar saw Stormy through a pretty rough final year and when the time came to let Stormy go in September 2007, his compassion, kindness, gentleness and experience were much appreciated. We did not get another dog until 2013 when we got a rescue chihuahua that we named Daisy, then a year later we got 3 more rescues, Cilla (chihuahua mix), Filly (chihuahua) and Gladys (Manchester terrier/dachshund mix). All of them were 2-4 years old. Instead of undergoing the stress for them (and us) of taking them to the vet, we decided to call Dr. Bolivar. Again, his kind, calm gentle demeanor won our 4 girls over and even Gladys who is afraid of everything was happy to see him and readily submitted to his gentle handling. Again his gentle compassion was much appreciated when our sweet Daisy was suffering from kidney failure and we had to let her go last December. Cilla died in her sleep several years ago. We are down to 2 old pups now. Dr Bolivar continues to provide excellent care for Filly and Gladys. Whenever we contact him about a problem with one of our girls he always gets back to us almost immediately. He is always punctual and always knows what to do. We could not have asked for more from Dr Bolivar over the more than 20 years that he has provided excellent stress free care for our beloved 4legged family members. We give Dr. Julio Bolivar our highest recommendation

I ended up pursuing xrays for my dog at another facility and the vet confirmed the tooth is not infected and does not warrant removal at this time. I also mentioned to Dr. Nguyen that my dog had an intermittent chronic hop/limp that my previous vet diagnosed as patellar luxation. Dr. Nguyen was confident it wasn't patellar luxation and recommended hind limb xrays to figure out what was really wrong. I got that imaging done as well at my other vet, just to confirm she does indeed have bilateral patellar luxation. I would seriously pause to consider this series of misdiagnoses and the extreme and costly procedures that were recommended (which now have been confirmed as unnecessary), when deciding if you want your pets seen here.

Neither your pet nor your wallet are safe here. Misdiagnosing/medical error is reason enough to…read moreavoid any vet. The less than honest billing is the cherry on top here. For a vet practice, having friendly and professional staff and clean facilities is table stakes. One would expect competence and honest pricing as well, but not here. There is dangerous incompetence with the medical care, and deceptive/overbilling (as much as 70% higher than other vets I got quotes from for the same procedure). For one, the vet (won't name out of respect) misdiagnosed a clinically significant cardiac condition of one of my dogs (2 other vets disagreed with her). I gave her the benefit of the doubt and came back with my other dog, for whom she also misdiagnosed a chronic joint condition. She also insisted that we extract a tooth due to a (possible) infection, and two other vets confirmed this is not necessary and that the tooth is not even dead. The vet simply lacks nuance and sophistication in understanding and navigating conditions and treatment options, and I did NOT feel safe letting her put my pet under to perform any procedures. Had I trusted this vet, my dog would be unnecessarily missing a tooth. I also confirmed over multiple conversations/emails the unscrupulous billing practices designed to avoid scrutiny. They provided me three different estimates for the same procedure, where the exact same line items were priced differently in each estimate. When asked, the employee could not explain this and kept making nonsensical excuses that made me feel like I was talking to a wall (or she thought I'd be too stupid to keep pressing). They refused to provide an itemized estimate for a procedure that I could submit to insurance. They explicitly said that if they were to provide such a receipt, they would have to charge me 85% more (confirmed both on the phone and over email). They'd provide the exact same services, but if they have to provide transparency into the billing, they would simply double the bill. They simply would not break out the costs of different medications/procedures as needed for insurance unless they doubled the price. I went to two other vets and neither had issues providing this kind of pricing transparency. Go at your own risk.
