Thank you for everything. I was making some calls for house doctors to come for in home euthanasia service. Dr. Ort was referred to me by multiple people and heard nothing but good things. I had a feeling this week was going to be my Harley's last week with us. My Harley girl actually passed away suddenly at the house that same day and it just so happen that Dr. Ort returned my phone call right after Harley passed. Weird and crazy how things work like that right? After speaking with her, she was able to pick her up and I loved that she handles the aftercare service for you as well. When she arrived, she was so gentle with Harley and super compassionate. I appreciate everything as this was super hard for me to say goodbye. It took me a long time to write this review because I wasn't ready to talk about the loss of our 14 year old Westie Bailey, who was suffering from Pulmonary Fibrosis. We brought him home from Sage Pet Hospital in the hopes he would improve, but when he got worse, we knew it was his time and didn't want him to suffer any further. I had used Dr. Bev many years ago to euthanize a beloved pet and knew how gentle and kind she was. She agreed to come over that afternoon and was as wonderful as I remembered her. She was so understanding and thoughtful while our family fell apart in front of her while saying goodbye. She took care of him afterward and returned his remains and a paw print we requested + sent us a beautiful condolence card. If I could give Dr Beverly 10 stars I would. We were really scared this week when our dog came down with a virus which included bloody stuff and he wouldn't eat. We were terrified and before you knew it our second dog had the same symptoms. Many vets are not traveling right now due to COVID-19 and our dogs are terrified to go into a doctors office. Dr Beverly came over she was so gentle she gave my baby Coco a shot and she examined him she said whatever he seems to be going through he is at the end of it. It was such a relief. We really appreciate that she took the time to come over to our home and treat our dogs and the least terrifying environment possible. Our dogs have bounced back, they're hungry, happy and sleeping well in ONE DAY! I give Dr. Beverly my highest recommendation. She is our doctor for good now! read more

Dr. Ort took excellent care of the cat I had for 21 years, and helped to euthanize him when his kidneys ultimately failed. It was very traumatic for me, and she did this with the utmost professionalism, kindness, and dignity. He was cremated and she handled the details for me according to my specific wishes, and I retained his ashes. To have a vet come into your home minimizes the trauma to the cat who doesn't like getting into a carrier or car, or wait in a waiting room full of crying cats, barking dogs and pet smells. She can take blood samples and do the exam in your house, and always gets back to you quickly with the results, over the phone and online. 2 years later I adopted another cat who had allergy and asthma issues and she helped sort that out, then referred me to a vet specializing in allergies. Later this cat developed a life threatening illness that required surgery, and she resumed her care as soon as she was discharged from the hospital. We relocated to southern California and she helped discuss how best to travel there with my cat. She provided medication for travel, and had me test it at home before we left the area, in the event of an allergic problem. I was very sad to have to leave the wonderful care Dr. Ort provided for my cats. Your pet could not be in better hands! read more

It has now been several weeks. Despite Dr Ort's receptionist's insistence, every single other vet I contacted was kind and sympathetic and understood why my cat needed better pain management. Also despite this receptionist's insistence, I was advised my original vet was derelict in her care for my cat after briefing other vets on what transpired, and that YES it was my responsibility as the guardian of my cat to seek better care -- not just blindly follow my cat's original vet like this receptionist insisted I should. The most agrivating sticking point of this receptionist's opinion was that NO VET would EVER prescribe pain management to an animal without a diagnosis. Yet, every other vet I spoke with was more than willing to treat my cat's severe pain immediately. The vet I saw less than 24 hours after that traumatic phone call with Dr Ort's receptionist immediately prescribed better pain management for my cat. Lyrica. Just, Lyrica. That's all my cat needed to finally find peace within her own body again. Was that really such an awful terrible thing to do, as this receptionist made out? Plus, my cat will never get a diagnosis. We've exhausted all the testing that can be done before doing an MRI of the majority of her body. And it'd be a waste of money because the potential diagnoses would be treated by surgeries that are not recommended or... Lyrica! So why spend $6000 on an MRI when she'd just be treated with Lyrica anyway? But according to this receptionist, my cat shouldn't receive any pain management unless I fork out that $6k. And if the MRI still didn't diagnosis her? Well, would this guy recommend I put her down before just treating her symptoms with Lyrica? Come on. This guy doesn't even realize how incompetent he is, yet he's dispensing out veterinary advice before Dr Ort can even consult with a person. It is beyond me as to why Dr Ort would continue to allow this incredibly rude person giving uneducated veterinary advice to continue to answer the phone for her practice. read more

Dr. Beverly Ort is a wonderfully kind human being. Our beloved pet dog was suffering from advanced kidney failure and had to cross the rainbow bridge, and Dr. Ort made it as painless and loving as possible. She came to our house to help Sophie cross over. It was so much more peaceful this way. We were with her the whole way. Our Sophie was such a sweet girl and not afraid of Dr. Ort at all. Dr. Bev was amazing during a very difficult time. Our 17-year-old cat, Shadow was suffering, and she helped us make the tough decision to put her down. She was compassionate and empathetic. She made her passing, so calm and peaceful. I can't thank her enough. I will never take my cats out to a vet again. A home visit is the way to go. Update: Dr. Ort and her assistant Lee came and gave our two cats their annual checkups. It was a great experience. They took their time and the cats were calm being in their own home. Thank goodness for Dr. Ort! About 3 years ago, my kitty was ailing, and we thought she had reached the end of the road. We called Dr. Ort, not wanting her to spend her final hours at a clinic somewhere, but at home instead. She came to visit, and after examining our wee beastie suggested that she thought she wasn't in so bad of shape that she wouldn't bounce back with some TLC. We took her advice, and indeed, she bounced back. We were able to spend 3 more years with our little old lady kitty, but her time finally arrived yesterday. Dr. Ort was able to come by within a few hours, and based on her symptoms and the way she was behaving, agreed that this time, the humane thing to do was to help ease her out gracefully so she wouldn't go on suffering. She treated our kitty and us with compassion, respect and understanding with a calm and humane demeanor. When you and your beloved pet are in your hour of need, it cannot be overstated how important that is. I was feeling very emotionally vulnerable and heartbroken, and she made me feel much more comfortable about doing the right, human, and compassionate thing. I still felt awful about having to do it, as anyone who has ever had to go through this knows. But I'm glad we got to spend so much more time with our little one, and I'm grateful to Dr. Ort for being there to help, making the our furry friend's last moments comfortable in familiar surroundings getting loved until the end. read more

We had Dr. Ort come to our home to visit our elderly dog, thinking his time was very near. Upon examination, Dr. Ort recommended some medication that was to serve as palliative care, thus providing more time with our dog. It certainly did, and we were grateful for the extra time we had with him! Well, the time came when our dog lost control of his back legs. Dr. Ort came to our home once again to end our beloved dog's suffering in the most humane way. We are so glad we decided to have her come to our home to perform the service vs. going to our regular pet hospital for this matter. We appreciated her professionalism and the compassion she showed towards us and our dog. Can't add anything all that much different from the other reviews about her service, though I can agree that she is empathetic and thoughtful, all the way through to getting the ashes back and a personal sympathy card we received from her! We had to lay down our beloved Zoe-cat a couple weeks ago as she succumbed to small cell lymphoma. My regular vet had told me about Dr. Beverly and we decided we wanted to have this done at home. It's hard to be all "woohoo! as good as it gets" right now, but I thought I'd update my rating. Dr. Ort called me this morning to check on my puss. I told her how he'd gotten worse and we agreed he should be put down. She was willing to mover her schedule around for me. I opted to wait until the end of her day. She arrived and was very loving to my cat as she looked him over and then administered the shot sending my boy to the other side. She even comforted him with me, calling him a good boy and such. If I could give 10 stars, I would. Thank you so much Dr. Ort, for coming to my home to help my dog transition to heaven. Good Dog Toby hated to go to the vet. It traumatized him. As he was ailing, I couldn't face taking him there to pass in such a clinical place. Dr. Ort compassionately came to our home, gave Toby something to help him sleep while we held him and calmed him and loved him. He drifted off peacefully and no one was traumatized. It was actually a very beautiful and loving experience. I felt really good about the decision to help Toby who was suffering, and have him be at home. I wish I could give Dr. Ort ten stars. She is so gentle and loving and she really cares. She took care of our dog, Peevie, for three and a half years. It costs more to have house calls, of course, but for an anxious dog, it's worth it. When Peevie's epilepsy got out of control, she found a great neurologist for us to consult. And when it was obvious that Peevie couldn't go on that way any more, Dr. Ort came over and ended her suffering in the most humane, loving, and peaceful way imaginable. She even brought us flowers that day. Since then, she has called several times to follow up and see how we're doing. Dr. Ort is just wonderful! She came to our rescue when we needed last minute travel health certificates for our cat and dog, and I couldnt have been happier with her services. I had been struggling with my cat's ill health for a few weeks with my regular vet. Over the weekend my kitty failed and I made the difficult decision to take her out of her pain Monday morning. My regular vet didn't open til later so I called Dr Ort as soon as I could. She told me that she'd come out in the afternoon but hearing the tears in my voice and inquiring about my cat's pain level she came to my home first thing. Dr. Ort and her staff are wonderful -- very highly recommended! I had to have my elderly dog euthanized, and wanted him to die at home, rather than in the vet's office. Pet House Calls provided excellent service in a business sense (friendly, professional, efficient, prompt) and, equally importantly, they made the experience as gentle and painless as possible for both me and my dog. Dr. Ort's receptionist was kind and efficient in providing information (cost, procedure and scheduling) and finding an appointment time. Dr. Ort gave herself a 3-hour window in which to arrive at my house, and called to let me know when she was on her way, about 1-hour into the time set aside. She sat on the floor with me and my dog, crunching herself into the small available space between his bed, my dresser and my bed -- because that's where he was when she arrived, and she clearly put his comfort first. She treated Jasper with care and kindness, and talked with me about the decision to euthanize and about the life he'd had... she really listened and provided support, more like a psychotherapist than a vet. She explained how things would go and gave us treats to give to Jasper throughout the procedure. She did the procedure itself (a sedative shot, and then after he was asleep, the fatal injection) quickly, calmly and skillfully, and I'm pretty sure she was crying a little when I was crying my eyes out. She was a great comfort to me in a difficult time, and Jasper died comfortably, at home, in his bed, with no apparent fear. I can't imagine better service or a better person to do this work. Dr. Ort is a wonderful vet. She is so patient and such a lovable veterinarian. My dogs love her whenever she comes to the house for their check ups or follow ups. She's also very thorough. She caught the cancer on both my dogs early enough to get treated right away, caught in time. read more

Many of the reviews here are in reference to end of life management, but Dr. Ort does so much more than this! We have had her take care of our kitties for the last 5 years and decided on a mobile vet because one of them is very anxious. Taking him to the vet was traumatic for all of us! Dr. Ort has been a God-send to our family. She cares so much about the animals, is extremely good with anxious and difficult animals and is a caring and genuine person! We have had several health issues with cats over the years, including dealing with end of life care, and her recommendations and management of our cats has been superb at every turn. Of course, a mobile vet is more expensive, but she is always willing to suggest alternatives to ensure that our financial concerns are addressed and considered. Dr. Ort's staff goes above and beyond to ensure you are well taken care of. Once when Dr. Ort was on vacation, her staff member covering the office, Mary, went out of her way to make sure my cat got the needed supplies; calling different vets in my area and when that didn't work (those vets required me to take my sick and anxious cat that has 6 months of documented history of kidney failure into another vet office just to get a bag of fluids...ridiculous policy!), suggested other alternatives that proved successful. In fact, her office staff always calls to let me know she is going on vacation since my cat needs regular supplies and checkups. I can not imagine a better vet for my animals! I once had to take a cat into a local clinic and I once again saw the night and day difference between a typical vet and wonderful care and service we receive from Dr. Ort from the comfort of our own home!
