Usually when a store looks outdated I judge it, but this store has that theme. It's organized and clean, just clustered with high quality gear. I go here to get my carhartt gear, which is hard to find in bulk. The closest place to here is in Antioch for that brand. I know you can get it online but I want to support local business and they have products that are sold out online. I've always wanted my own cowboy hat. That will be a birthday gift. I have been going to the Richmond store for a number of years now and tend to spend over $250 every time I go in there. I love the shoes I buy there and have walked more than 1 pair to pieces. My husband gets his boots there and so does my daughter because they carry pink cowgirl boots that she loves! Anyway, I made the HUGE mistake of walking out of the store with my latest pair of Ariat shoes without trying them on first. I figured that they were the same shoes I had on my feet already minus the tear on the side from over-abuse so they should fit just fine. The right shoe was perfect, the left one was soooo tight that I still have a bruise on my foot after wearing them for 3 hours more than a week ago! So, I figure I will take them back and exchange them for a pair that fit. Simple, right? The manger REFUSED to exchange them even though they would have sent the defective pair back to the manufacturer because they were ... well ... defective. AND she wouldn't give me a reason why she was refusing to take them back. I had to call the shoe company personally and get them to call GGWW and make the manager of the store exchange the shoes! GGWW will NEVER see my money again. There is nothing on earth that would get me to go back into that store again after how rudely they treated me. Now I just have to find another store that sells these shoes. :( read more

It pains me to write this review. When I went here last we were only downstairs and I didn't take a really good look around. Upstairs there is a native American mannequin, a stereotypical representation sitting in handcuffs. The imagery made me feel sick. I'm not sure of the intention. And I didn't want to second guess, except that maybe the owner is just thoughtless. But then I started digging online to see if anyone had previously commented on this because I found it so odd. I found a news article post 9-11 that the owner had a stereotypical Arab mannequin representing Bin Laden in a jail cell upstairs in the store previously. So now it appears not just thoughtless but outright racist. It's just sad. There aren't a lot of western wear stores. And I'd love to support a local business over Boot Barn or another chain. It's 2021 folks. Time for a change. read more

I have gone here off an on for years and always got treated right and their merchandise has been top quality.I haven't gone for years but I was having trouble finding a nice flannel shirt and my friend reminded me of them.They're clothes are good quality and the salespeople were friendly and helpful.They didn't have a huge selection but it was fine.They had a range of prices also.I do recommend checking them out whether you want western looking wear or not.Very easy to park and they have hand sanitizer to use when you enter.Everyone wearing masks also. read more

I don't know if he was mad about something else, but it just looked like he did not want to help me especially since I had no idea what I wanted because I didn't know. They have a great selection. Sure, there's cheaper country western clothing shops in the Mission, but for the real McCoy high quality shit, take it from the midnight urban cowboy himself, GGWW is the place. Great selection of boots by all the majors including Tony Lama and Justin, shirts, belts, accessories, and cowboy hats galore, including those inspired by Hollywood's classic icons of the Wild West. Granted, I'm not a fer real cowboy, but one of my uncles was back in the 80's out on a Montana ranch and another was a small time country western singer back in the 70's, so like it or not, it's in my bloodlines. I am a cowboy action shooting competitor and Work in the firearm industry and really enjoy the selection of gun belts and holsters available from the shop. The staff are always friendly and the selection of contemporary and period clothing is awesome! Weather you work on a functional ranch, are western movie fan, or just a shooter like me check out the store it's definitely a hidden gem in the Bay Area. Bill Knudsen makes some of nicest custom hats around and his hats have even made it to the big screen. The store also stocks common brands like Stetson, and resistol but if you can make the investment, Bill's hats are of the finest quality. In a disposable world where quality is lacking its awesome to find a store where you can meet the craftsman who makes some of the products. They are worth a look. Check them out! read more

I work in Richmond and tried to look for a hat to wear to an event with a friend. I asked for help and was told to go look for my self. Their were 2 women who were working the store and neither one said to hi to me or my friend when we came in. They have some nice clothing but the staff is lacking to say the least. Also they have a wall of jeans in every color for men, belt buckles, bolo ties, knick-knacks, etc. As far as returns - just keep the receipt and tags on, same as any store. I am going to keep this real quick. I ordered the Bohanon hat last year. It took them 4 months to make as they are very backed up and are hand making these hats one by one. After bringing my hat home and a few months of wearing, I noticed that the hat was shaped wrong. I brought the hat back and was very honest with the owner. He said my head shape was pretty unique so the hat ended up taking on a bit of a different shape than how it appears in the photos on the website. He ended up taking my hat back with the promise to see if it was "adjustable"..Keep in mind, these hats run about 500 bucks. Well, a few months later, they called me and told me I was going to need a brand new hat. They offered to make me a new one AT ZERO COST....For a custom maker, that is a pretty big deal. I finally got my new hat and it looks EXACTLY how its supposed to look. My family has purchased 3 hats from this company and will absolutely be returning for more hats and some nice shirts to go with it. Thank you so much GGWW. Thank you thank you thank you!! read more

After shopping at western stores all over the U.S., this has got to be the worst ever. The prices are high and the quality is like wall-mart. I bought a pair of work boots recently, and they said they were American made. Come to find out the boots were made in China. After wearing them for two months, the whole sole peeled off.
