5 Star update for my favorite wine shop in town, a fantastic wine club, and great pop-ups and events. It's been 3 years since my review of Golden Hour and I now count this biz as one of my most frequently visited businesses in Orlando. Of course, the wine is phenomenally curated and I've come to truly love low-intervention wine (no hangover!!), but the thing that takes GH to the next level is the sense of community. This special spot has cultivated a diverse community of folks who love unpretentious wine and great company. You can find me here at least once a week, sitting at the communal table, chatting and enjoying the community. They also host pop-ups from oysters to pizza and everything in between. Lastly, I have to give it up for a really special wine club. We pay $90 and get 3 wines/month- oftentimes super super rare bottles in FL (if maybe one or two cases entered the state, Heather can leverage her relationships to secure them for the wine club. I also love the descriptive emails each month where I learn about a new region or small producer. If you haven't been to GH, I would highly recommend it. Heather is such a gracious, kind wine enthusiast and host. She's knowledgeable, passionate, and knows her pairings. Let her know what you like, and she'll recommend the perfect wine for your palate. What an amazing find. I had an hour to kill and couldn't have found a better to enjoy it. First, the service of the proprietor was awesome. I came in to purchase a wine for Thanksgiving and he guided my choices and assisted me in selecting a Beaujolais, Turkey Day hurry up and get here. Next you want to taste simply ask. It's hard not to love a place where you are completely surrounded by wine. After seeing my bestie Andi P post about this spot on the regular, I made it a must try upon my recent visit to Orlando. When I walked in, it gave me vibes of my favorite Miami wine shoppes. So it was no surprise to me when I found out they sell wines to some of my fave spots in Miami, which made Golden Hour Wine feel like home. We hung out there for hours, trying bubbles and a delish Chablis that I kept revisiting. Brenda was working at the Shoppe and was great at explaining the wines and offering recs. There are wines here at every price point, from the everyday varieties under $20 to more expensive bottles to uncork. While there is no food menu, they do have a few snacks to munch on. I suggest the truffle chips. I found myself eating almost the entire bag that was certainly not a single portion. If you're visiting, definitely make a stop at Golden Hour wine to have a glass (or two), or pick up wine for your stay in Orlando. If you're a local, ask about their wine club which gives you 3 different wines each month plus discounts in the store. This spot is also dog friendly with limited indoor and outdoor seating. What a lovely, lovely wine bar. I stopped by with my mom and stepdad last month when were in Orlando for a long weekend. It's a natural wine shop that also has certain bottles open for wine by the glass. (You can also drink any bottle you buy from the shop.) We tried several of the wine by glass; all of them were interesting and delicious and special. It's small, but there's some outside seating as well as a little inside seating. But what made our visit even more special was the service! The owners were there and they are so lovely. They get to know their customers in a way that felt really personal and wonderful. I can't say enough nice things. Great wine, great service. A great place to drink some natural wine. read more

I can't believe it's taken me this long as a natural wine lover to visit Golden Hour Wine. I'd give it the title that it IS the best spot in town for the selection and overall price point for the natural wines that are being served. I was very impressed with what Heather has on the shelves to offer and how adorable the ambience was inside. It is a comfy, and welcoming place, you feel like you're having wine inside someone's home (the pictures don't do Justice to the vibe actually curated.) In addition, there is a porch to sit outdoors. I had a chance to chat with Heather for a little bit...she owns and operates the business...so, yes, it's women's owned and she is also from New York; which I like to think adds to why this place is ahead of it's time (for Orlando). I can't stress enough how much I love this spot. The best way I can describe my experience is to imagine going to a bespoke suit store and being a little overwhelmed with all of the options at first, but once you get to speak with the tailor, they instantly put you at ease and help you find the right suit that meets all of your needs. I instantly had good vibes with the owners (Heather and Corey) and admitted that I didn't know much about wine (actually a newb) but that I was looking for a going-away gift for some friends of mine. I told them a little bit about my adventurous friends who were vegetarians, living the RV life, and who are doing a cross-country trip to their new home in Montana. I also mentioned that they liked rieslings but nothing too sweet. With that little bit of information, they were equipped with enough data to narrow my options down to 3 bottles at varying price points. Heather told me some great stories about each of the bottles and how they would resonate with my friends. I LOVED hearing that they visited each of the locations that these bottles were sourced from and that they actually sat down with each of the farmers and had dinner while trying the wine. Personally, I loved the idea that they got to build a relationship with their wine sources and that each of the bottles was thoughtfully considered before being sold in their shop. After selecting a bottle for my friends, which PERFECTLY lined up with their preferences and story, my wife and I picked out a bottle for ourselves to share and my wife got one just for herself LOL I think that the owners did a fantastic job creating an inviting space for people to learn more about wine and to try brands from unique locations around the world. More than likely, you won't find many of these bottles in your nearby big-box wine store. I also love that when the COVID restrictions lighten up more, you can gather for wine tastings. We LOVE Golden Hour Wine. We have been in the Classics for a Reason wine club for the last year and thoroughly enjoy tasting the thoughtfully and creatively curated selections. We lived near Napa before we moved to Orlando and had quite a taste for California wine. Thankfully, Golden Hour has awaked our palates to wine from other parts of the world. We have tried many beautiful French wines, we had two lovely Sicilian ones last month and this month there is a highly coveted Canadian wine in the bunch. Golden Hour has quite a few partnerships with local restaurants. We ate at Soseki last year and they had a beautiful wine pairing that was recommended by Heather- it was so good we had to go to the store to buy another for home. You can walk in and do a tasting or buy a glass, and they often have pop-up events with little bites served. There are some member-only events as well which we've not yet been able to attend but hope to in the near future. read more

After a walk around Lake Baldwin, we decided to grab some wine to enjoy with our dinner that night. We popped into Golden Hour, immediately pleased by the bright decor and stocked shelves full of inventory. I didn't realize it was specifically a natural wine shop, but there was plenty to choose from with a variety of price points. The median price seemed to be in the $20's, which is a great for something specially selected by the shop owners. We asked for two recommendations: (1) an orange/skin contact wine, something a little funky and interesting and (2) a classic red Cotes du Rhone, which is typically my favorite kind of wine. After taking them home and really enjoying both of them, I'm not sure if I want to go back and buy those *same* wines again, or if I should try others - because I'm sure to love anything else they recommend. Can I just say, I paid LESS than $40 for a Cotes du Rhone from 2012. TWENTY-TWELVE. That is a nine year old wine, from my favorite region, so it hits all my favorite notes that are characteristic of the typical Cotes du Rhone grapes. It definitely felt like special occasion wine, but at an acceptable nice-bottle-of-wine price point. Oh, and after we paid, they offered to do a wine tasting with us, and just from that tasting of 5 wines, there are 3 that I took a photo of that I want to come back to buy next time. Golden Hour Wine is located in the heart of Baldwin Park, and while it is a small place, your would think it was larger than life. Why? Because it is larger than life. It is intimate, the wine selection is superb, the lessons about wine are freely given, and the regulars know how to keep the party going! I live in Jax FL and I miss Golden Hour as there is no place in the Jax area that compares to this amazing, extraordinary place. Really cute shop in Baldwin Park. I went in looking for a birthday present for a friend. Although, it's a small shop, they have a good selection at various price points. I like that the front bottle of each row has the price clearly written on it, so you know already if something is out of your price range. Since I don't know much about wine, I asked the guy working there (probably the owner?) for recommendations based on the style my friend likes and my price range. I also asked about a good rose option for myself. He had picks for both and I went with them without hesitation. I recently got a text from my friend saying he loved the wine we got him. He talked it up so much, I'm planning to stop by soon and get a bottle for myself. I recommend this place for any wine novices like me. Orlando doesn't deserve Golden Hour Wine. Impeccably designed, expertly curated, and a real gift to the Sunshine State. There are about 100 folks in the United States that are the heartbeat of the emerging natural wine scene here (a staple in Europe for decades). Heather, a NY transplant, is one of those hundred. I have received nothing but oracle-level advice on multiple visits. The hospitality is second to none, and is exactly what one would expect in a town that already has gems like Swirlery, Digress, Parkview, et al. Any visit is sure to include open bottles, a visiting neighborhood pup, and discussions of the best restaurants in the area (usually instigated by a tipsy industry rep seated at the gorgeous table in the center of it all). Every bottle selected comes with a story about a vineyard dog, a drunken night at a NY pizza joint, time in a European cellar, or a Citroen with a leaky roof. This is the place you go when you want to buy wine from the friends of the people actually making the wine. Put Golden Hour on your bucket list. read more
