Some good Chinese food. Top 3 in Lawrence area imo. It has its days where it's bland/meh but in most cases, it's good. I do wish the rice had more soy sauce to it, sometimes be seeing white rice only lol but it's not a deal breaker. I add my own from the packets provided. read more

I had a weekday lunch at the Golden House recently. They do have a lunch menu and complimentary hot tea which is old school. There was only one other party in the dining room, which was clean but kinda needs updating. The food came out fairly quickly. It was fine..very common traditonal American Chinese. It was fresh and hot and tasted good. I also ordered egg rolls but they did not make it. Overall a decent lunch for a fair price. read more

Consistent in what they deliver, always enjoy the general gau's chicken with pork fried rice. Pu pu platter is great. However, the kung pau chicken was awful. Should be called kung pau celery! Near impossible to find a scrap of chicken in the entire dish, bite after bite full of celery. Will be sticking to my usual general gau's in the future! read more

Great place to eat but buyers beware if you order delivery close to their closing time. I paid $33.32 for a full delivery but they never showed up to my house. They close at 10 pm it is now 10:38 pm. Solid Chinese restaurant that I've been visiting the last 12 years. Same management who is very courteous. Lunch combos are always a good deal. The food is very consistent. Some of my fave dishes are pork fried rice, chicken wings, chicken fingers, lobster sauce, and you can't forget the crab Rangoon's. You can always typically find parking pretty easily on Broadway right out front. This is def the most solid Chinese restaurant in south Lawrence. Great place to indoors prior to Covid now they're just doing pickup. Great lunch deals under 10 dollars worth very big portions! read more

Since day one, the Golden House has served up both quality food and excellent service. A true representation of how a successful family small businesses should be run. I remember before they expanded. Their tables continued to be seated with happy customers, while in the background the owner's/management churned through take out orders, more by the minute. My friends and I, we would drive here from an hour away on multiple occasions because the food and service were simply left us always feeling full and satisfied every single time. They continue to run an efficient service, even when the current times we are in have made this industry much more challenging. Find me a restaurant with similar accolades and a long standing reputation like this one. I'll gladly take a seat and share the same praise. Don't be fooled by the usual unkempt city sidewalk & odd exterior....Yes, this place has seen better days. The only reason why I tried this place years ago was being referred by a friend. Even though people have different tastes, I usually find this particular person's to be on point with mine and I've been remiss not to have reviewed the Golden House Restaurant. Firstly, let me state that you will not find NICER, FRIENDLY people than are here. Be it the staff taking your order, the owner, or kitchen workers! They all smile, say hello, ask you how your day is going etc....When you get ready to leave they always wish you well. How cool is that! With it's expansive menu, it takes strength not to order too much... particularly if dining solo. Due to my extreme allergy to seafood, I ALWAYS have to alert whoever takes my order. Also at times whoever prepares it .. not taking any chances. So here goes.... I went with the Scallion Pancakes, Meatless Moo Shi with pan cakes & Plum Sauce, and Meatless fried rice. I'm not sure if my order being of a vegetarian nature , if it was irregular. Or, they were concerned to inform me that they understood and there would be no seafood or mingling with any other orders. But the fact that the kitchen made a point of coming out to personally tell me so, I found that to be incredible. This was a takeout order. I would have stayed, but I'm not partial to sitting in restaurants alone... Just my thing. So, when I returned home I started unpacking my loot. As usual everything was packaged perfectly not to leak out. The scallion pancakes were excellent ... The rice just as good and the meatless moo Shi to die for. Only thing I wasn't keen on is that the pancakes used to roll the mixture in kept falling apart... No biggie, but a bit disappointing. And of course I polished off my delightful takeout meal with a yummy fortune cookie.... DO TRY GOLDEN HOUSE! And, don't even think of being put off that it's in Lawrence.. Because from the time you walk in the door you will be treated like a long lost friend. Your order will be accurate, packed well, and delicious... What's not to like about that! read more

I'm always looking for good Chinese take out as I really am not a big fan of sit down Chinese restaurants and this one hits the mark! The prices are amazing! They make the food quick, and everything is fresh and tasty. This is generally where I go when we are hosting parties or just need our weekly Chinese fix. I recommend if you go here to load up on the Lo Mein, the amazing Crab Rangoons, any of the beef and pork choices are excellent. The parking is a bit difficult as it is on S Broadway which is a main road in the city makes it a bit of a pain especially if you don't want to pay the delivery charge and a tip. But as long as you call and order before they close the doors you will be able to get some of the best Chinese in the city! read more

Ahh Lawrence! Don't be scared...... Best Chinese take out I have tried since I moved to Lawrence over 2 years ago. The place is super tiny so it's probably better if you take out then dine in. I have done both. The bar is super tiny which equal no seats. Drinks at tables only. Place looks like a dump, frankly, in a none-too-savory neighborhood (that hardly makes it unique in Lawrence, though). However, the quality of food belies the surroundings. Probably a better choice for takeout than dining in, though the restaurant is comfortable enough. Parking could be an issue, since it's on busy South Broadway. A good place with a friendly owner and, if you're in the mood for Chinese and have business in the area, a solid choice. If this place were in a better building in, say, a suburban strip mall, it would probably be packed. Add a nifty bar and it would probably leave other Valley Chinese restaurants in the dust. BTW, I don't mean to hate on Lawrence -- it has a certain raffish charm, after all, and quite a few above-average restaurants and businesses -- but it's got a long way to go as far as making people want to make the trip from out of town. read more

Great little family run Chinese restaurant. The owner Joe remembers everyone's name. Every time I am standing at the take-out counter and people walk in I am shocked by how many the owner knows by name. They are very accommodating. Moo Gai Pan you want brown sauce, not white no problem. Substitutions are allowed. They know customer service and want to make you happy. I have not had a bad anything here. Everyone I have recommended this place to, have brought or came to my house for take-out now goes here. I like to order the dinner menu, they are enormous I always have enough for dinner and lunch the next day for work. I have eaten in several times, at night for dinner I often see MA State police troopers or LPD in there grabbing take out or having dinner, which to me is always a good sign. These guys can stop anywhere and most know the best places to go. Give them a try. The prices are very reasonable. read more

Greg freitas, I had dinner there last evening.We ordered the $9.50 dinner plates from back of menu.I had 3 meats and Pork fried rice sub gum..Let's take them one at a time..The boneless spare ribs,are like little pieces. .They were dry and Overcooked. The beef teriyaki was dry,overcooked, and lastly the chicken wings.They were good,if a little over done. My friend got Beef and Broccoli, with pork fried rice.the beef was dry,tough,and Overcooked.The thing good in that dish was the broccoli and the gravy..Back to mine,I forgot my pork fried rice sub gum. It was absolutely terrible. Even had,a funny taste..I loaded it up with duck sauce,then I could eat it..Grade-F It stunk...I've been going here for twenty years,and usually get a good meal...This was the worst. .The owner wasn't around, he would have squared it away..The only thing they didn't screw up were the fortune cookies... read more

That said, fact is THE most popular Chinese restaurant in North Andover is 2 minutes from where I now live (I've gentrified, yes) BUT I still prefer the Golden. I'm doing take out tonight. In a nutshell, it's good Chinese food cheap. And Joe, the owner prides himself on getting to know ALL his customers, even those like me who go infrequently ONLY because 1 of my doctors is concerned about my "sodium issue." Tonight was our first night trying Golden House. We just moved to the neighborhood. Please do not eat here. We should of listened to the other reviews. I have had bad chinese food before but this was by far the worst. We had boneless spare ribs that were as dry as leather, the chicken fingers tasted like they were heated up from the day before and we found small pieces of broccoli in the rice. By far the only decent place I found. The workers are friendly. The food is fresh and hot! The crab rangoon is packed and tasty. The chicken is good I ordered the pu-pu platter just to get a taste of everything and the chicken fingers are great. Parking is a beeach. The food tastes different, the color of the rice is off, the chicken wings (which were my favorite) doesn't taste as fresh, and what did it for me is what happened today. A friend of mine ordered some food from this place and he found a piece of glass in his food. Smh that is one of the worst thing that any customer can experience.
