I always hesitate getting beef from Thai places since it is usually the fake tasting beef you find in American Chinese food but was pleasantly surprised. - Pho flavor was definitely different than what you would find in a Viet place and was good. - Pad Kee Mao: The rice noodles probably could be cooked better, reminds me of how it would come out if I cooked at home, all clumped together and broken. Small, strip mall eatery mostly geared toward takeout, but with a handful of tables for dining in. It's a one-person show (the owner) at the front of the house, so you'll need some patience waiting for her to answer the phone, take care of takeout customers, tend to other tables, etc. So be kind and more importantly, plan your water intake accordingly. Overall, a MUCH-better-than-you'd-expect place with compelling flavors and really nice execution. General tip: Skip the copycat Chinese and Vietnamese restaurant fare that's probably there out of obligation, and stick to the Thai items where they really shine, and especially the entrees. Chicken Star: Flattened Thai style popcorn chicken, with decent crunch and a mostly pleasant flavor, although it's sweeter than it needs to be. A common area condiment station has ingredients to kick this up, but it's fine as is and a pretty good value too. Hot Wings: Less of a value, as the price has gone up and the portion has gone down of late (that's the case at all restaurants in the post-pandemic era), but these are large wing pieces, cooked to nail the contrast between crisp exterior and juicy center. Sweet tangy heat on top, basically your typical Thai sweet chile sauce a la Mae Ploy, but well executed. More of a concession to an American palate, but delicious nevertheless. Tofu Triangles: Crisp outside, tender inside, and enjoyable enough for carnivores that we got two orders for our party of six. Peanut dipping sauce on the side. I kick that up with chile condiments. Pork skewers (occasional special): Often called moo ping, with a lively thin, herby, crunchy dip, often called nam jim jaew. Tender and nice flavor with or without the condiment. Seaweed Salad: A healthy app that's a refreshing counterpoint to both the hot and the sweet. Have had it many times. Papaya Salad: Also refreshing, with lots of crunch, and lots of heat too, so it's more about its own flavor than counterpoint. Crisp, refreshing, but very mild compared to other versions I've had, especially Cambodian ones. You can vary the heat to your preference, as you can with all dishes. Chicken Larb: Served warm and fully cooked, this salad is spicy, herbal, sour, and light. Large portion. Khao Soi: Excellent noodles underneath, with just enough of the firmness still intact; the crunchy noodles on top are a higher grade than most. Made with protein of choice (I choose chicken), thick and spicy yellow curry, onions, scallions, pickled mustard greens, and herbs. Every aspect well executed. Chicken Grapow: Usually with ground crumbly chicken, sometimes long shreds, with a fairly light brown sauce leaning less on oyster sauce and more on the heavy use of sweet basil. Irresistibly flavored, it's one of their best dishes. Good flavor from the spices and good use of basil. Can be made as spicy as you like. Other Mix 'n' Match Plates: Like many Thai restaurants, you can pick your protein, or for non-meat eaters, vegetables, tofu, or seafood. All of these have been very good. There's no particular specialty I'd recommend over any other; go with your instincts. Pork Belly: Crispy but sometimes a little too fatty. Fish with String Bean: Fried, crunchy, tasty. Mildly spicy. Salmon Choo Chee: A thick slab of salmon, well cooked in its own right even before the sauce additions, but made tastier after a thick, tasty curry sauce whose heat can be customized. Served with broccoli crowns. Enjoyable as Thai food or simply as seafood. Beef Salad: Slightly warm in this rendition. Spicy, refreshing, faint hints of sweet, and a nice crunch from toasted rice. Sweet and Sour Fish: Not unlike what you might find in an old school Chinese restaurant, but with fried fish. Pineapples and cherry tomatoes, not cherries. Nice texture warm. Traditional and authentic? Who's to say, but a good dish for someone who's less adventurous with the unfamiliar Thai fare. Tofu with Eggplant: Crisp large chunks of tofu with crunchy vegetables, and the namesake eggplant velvety beneath the exterior. read more

Still a huge fan 7 years later :) We regularly order takeout from Khao Hom and have enjoyed everything on the menu. Typically we order red curry, chicken stars, pho, or stir fry and are really happy with the quality of the food and the service. read more

Absolutely delicious! The portions for the noodles are insane. I got the Chicken Kee Mao and had 2 meals worth. However, the spicy chicken wings was not the most bang for your buck, but was very yummy so if price isn't a factor, definitely get it. I also really enjoyed their Thai iced tea. Dinner tonight was takeout from Khao Hom, eaten in my car while my kid was at practice for 3 hours. The restaurant has 6 or 7 tables for eat in dining. TIP from the restaurant, If you order online order through TOAST, it is cheaper than order through the restaurant website. Seems crazy, buts it's true. I ordered Pad See Ew with chicken. Really good homemade Thai food and the owner lady is super sweet and nice, I tend to do takeout here but it's always good especially their Thai fried rice that I get with chicken and shrimp. Oh! My! God! I love this place! First, dead on fantastic thai. I've lived in SF, the south, and been to Singapore and Australia. I've sampled some great thai food. These folks nail it! But the reason I absolutely love them, the reason I get a meal from them at least once a week is that they give me spicy food. I went all over town asking for spicy food. I asked for "thai spicy", then I asked for "please try to blow my doors off spicy", and I kept getting luke warm mediocre heat. They listened and I love them for it. Finally, an affordable Thai place near Burlington. This is such a hidden gem, we can't stop raving about it. The noodles bring me back to the eats in Thailand. The pad thai had a bit of smokiness to it that actually paired so well with my wine (full bodied red blend, Indigene Cellars, Ambiente). Lots of folks recommended so we tried it. Our Pad Thai tastes old- spoiled -something DEF wrong- too much fish sauce (I dont even think it should be in there but thats what it tastes like)? Best Thai food in the Boston area. The only reason I take a star away is cause the service is sometimes poor. It seems like they don't have enough employees, so the lady working the front is always running around trying to do everything. Last time I went, for example, they didn't have anyone to wash the dishes, so I had to use paper/styrofoam plates and cups to eat the meal. I may ask them to go easy next time but I really love the portion size. Pad Kee Mao Talay - 5 stars. We ordered medium heat this time so we can get a real taste without burning our faces off. A little more sweet note in the seasoning but there was a nice balance of herbs. Crispy Pork Basil Pork - 5 stars. The pork was not crispy by the time we got home but that's an artifact of take out meals. But man, when we opened the lid, that surprisingly fragrant steam gave a big hello! We had driven by this plaza for months and kept casually mentioning that it would be good to try. It is pretty close to our house, so finally we decided to come for a Friday night dinner. Like other reviewers mention, it isn't a big place or fancy at all. It is a small family restaurant that probably does more takeout orders than eat-in. However, they took great care of us. The people were so kind, and the food left us more than satisfied. My husband got the pho and I ordered the basil noodles with chicken. For an appetizer we had the chicken satay and for dessert, the mango sticky rice. I am so impressed by the delicious food. Thai is one of the cuisines we have eaten at a lot of different locations, and let's just say we are thrilled that this place is nearby. Some of the pictures were after a bite or two because we just couldn't help ourselves. They accommodated gluten free for me easily. We discovered this spot during the pandemic for takeout and it has been an amazing find. We ordered from this place 4 times in the last 4 months and every time, food was fantastic. We have tried Drunken Noodles, Pad Thai, Red Curry and Scallion Pancakes and all of them were great. Portion sizes are huge. One entree is large enough for two people. Their prices are okay. The restaurant is quite hygienic. Every time, I have been there, there are not more than 2 people inside the restaurant for pickup and there are sanitizer bottles kept. read more

Dined on a Friday between 2 and 3 pm. Originally going to try Max Noodles but they were closed for vacation so this was our next pick based on Yelp reviews. Located in a pretty dated plaza with ample parking. When we walked in we were greeted by two men who appeared to be working there (one or both could have been the owner?), given menus and offered water. As we pursued the menu, a lady walked in and after stopping in the kitchen she returned to take our orders. We decided to start with the wonton noodle soup and the pork pad thai and chicken ginger stir fry for our lunch entrees, all to share. The soup arrived piping hot with 4 wontons and a nice amount of herbs and greens on top. The wontons were excellent and very much like the ones my father used to make. We could both have liked the soup broth to be less salty. The pad thai and chicken arrived shortly as we were finishing our soup. The pork in the pad thai was tender, the rice noodles were very thin (like vermicelli) unlike most pad thai noodles I've ever had. We would have preferred more vegetables in the pad thai. Tons of noodles though. The chicken entree had a lot of peppers and onions and we would have preferred a variety of other veggies...guessing we should have ordered a vegetarian dish too? Chicken was tender as well. The taste of both entrees were reminiscent of my childhood (Cantonese household) but my friend preferred more spices. This is one of our family's go to restaurant. Be it a weekday quick dinner, or a weekend grub with friends or family or catering for an event, Khao Hom always comes through. Our favorite go to dishes are: Chicken Satay, Beef satay, spring rolls, fresh rolls, tom yum soup and our all time fav Pad Ke Mao. The service is always great and they deliver around the neighborhood for a reasonable fee. The prices are pretty good as well.
