As long-time customers of the old Jade, we had favorite staff / servers / dishes that expired with the recent change of ownership, and had avoided it folllowing the change. we revisited Jade today, perhaps out of nostalgia, and were pleasantly surprised: Sally, the new owner, has revamped the layout, staff, and menu to offer new adventures to these old clients. The two of us started with a fried gyoza (always good), followed by yue yang spicy beef and fish filet in garlic sauce. The beef was wonderfully spicy, the fish fresh and tasty -- both new items on the Jade menu. Our inquiries to Sally about the sushi offerings landed us an unexpected treat: a sample of Carpaccio in garlic basil sauce, a superb offering of three delightful mouthfuls of japanese sublety laced with European flavor touches. Food is below par. This restaurant was are go to Chinese place BEFORE the new ownership took over. We ordered a pupu platter for take out; the shrimp was a size of a quarter, the batter on the chicken fingers as raw in the middle, the boneless spare ribs were piece of fat with a little meat mixed in, and the fried rice had big balls of white rice in it. If we had eaten in the restaurant we would have sent it all back. the new ownership did not make a very good first impression. We won't be going for a second one. read more

Listen , one thing I love is a Chinese food take out. Rain sleet snow they are open for business. This restaurant is nice great customer service very friendly and helpful but I didn't like the food. ‍I order the typical egg rolls chicken fried rice and general tsoas chicken and crab Rangoon and it just wasn't good. Idk if it was missing the MSG but it just didn't give the Chinese take food feel. I would not go back. My rating is based merely off the taste of food other than that it's nice but that's it. read more

Usually order steam shrimp vegetables, excellent, spring rolls, excellent, miso excellent. Whenever order sushi it's fresh, nice portion, tasty. The service is courteous and order ready for pickup and very fresh and warm. Eating in service excellent, attentive, attractive decor. read more

Got takeout today and sushi was ok but egg roll and beef with mixed vegetables was absolutely tasteless and not fresh. Food was old, beef rubbery and egg roll chewy and almost burnt. I threw it out after spending $60. I have eaten in there recently and food was better but today was horrible and it will be a while before I return. Also, it was father's day and the place was empty at 4:00 p.m. Not one customer eating there. read more

One of the nicest looking restaurants in the area for dining in. Large dining area. Clean bathrooms. Service is a little slow, but nice enough. Food is satisfying. Will probably come back when we're in town, since there aren't too many Asian restaurants to choose from in Andover/North Andover. And, as I mentioned, it's one of the nicest looking. I have heard great things of Jade so this one day at Lunch with a friend decided to take a trip to Jade. The location is right in the town with huge parking lot. The space itself quite big , open , clean and really great long bar. absolutely a place you want to sit and eat. we were seated fairly quickly considering only one table was filled in whole rest. We ordered one Curry chicken and one black bean chicken with plain rice. Ok so i am going to say i am curry chicken fanatic since i have almost tried Curry chicken at all the Chinese rest i ever eaten. This one here was not bad and it seemed like their chinese curry spice was homemade and bit different but in a really good way , the only problem was very under seasoned. I hardly felt the taste of spice. On the contrary the black bean chicken was really awesomely spiced but way too oily. it was cooked real well. The service was quick and good . The pricing is on par i suppose nowadays with inflation excuse everywhere. Overall i dont think the food was bad but both dishes had its little issues . I would sometime in future maybe try it again one more time during the dinner time and see how it fares with some other items . but for now 3 stars. read more

My son wanted a low-key family graduation party and Jade was perfect! We had a semi-private space for 30 members of our family. The staff were very attentive and helpful; they brought drinks as soon as we needed them. The food was served buffet style, and was fresh and delicious. Our guests were very happy with the selection of appetizers and main dishes. I loved that we had a casual space to chat, eat, and drink. No one felt rushed. There are not many Chinese restaurants near here so we were hopeful. This is a sad looking restaurant with a strange menu. The Japanese section had many "sushi" choices with tempura the only entrees offered. Additionally were some appetizers and salad. The sushi didn't seem fresh, maybe because the wasabi was in hard balls, seemingly scooped in advance. Each choice we made, the server had to check if it was available. The Chinese section had more conventional selections of entrees, soups and appetizers. The wan ton soup was uninspired and fairly tasteless. I had the crispy pad thai. It was good but would have been better for me with all shrimp and no chicken. Service was ok to poor but not terrible. Prices seemed moderate. It's New Year's Eve and I thought of ordering Chinese food around 3:30. I immediately thought of Jade. But knowing that it was NYE I was a bit hesitant because I know how crazy these places can be. In the past I have ordered days before with a pick up time on NYE. I gave it a go. I ordered at 5:00 pm and they said 45 minutes. No problem. Once I got there it was pretty busy, but their staff had the organization of orders down pat. Give them your name and last 4 digits of your phone number. I did have to wait for my order a few minutes, but no big deal. The staff were so nice and helpful even though they were very busy. The food was delicious and worth bragging about. Everything tasted so fresh. If you haven't tried it, try it! I love this place. read more

I was torn here between a 3 and a 4 star review. The food tastes great, the portions are big, the service is fast and friendly, the prices are a bit high but that's not the problem. We've gone here a number of times for take-out and each time we've had one dish which was sitting around for a while and had gotten hard. Tonight it was the General Gao's chicken. Some pieces were so hard that you couldn't bite into them. This is a shame because the last time it was great. The last time it was the dumplings that were rubbery and it's the same situation. We had them before and they were fine. It's a shame because the flavors are better than anything else around. We'll keep going in the hopes that they improve the rotation of the stuff warming on the stove. read more

Went last night, had a good meal. I got some sushi, GF got Moo shi & we shared a small Pu pu platter. All where good. Our server was great. #8, put their name, not a number! She had a large group of girls beside us that ordered a lot of food. Great energy. Great servers are hard to find these days. Food came out at a reasonable time. This is a gem in this area. I came for the nearby restaurant and accidentally saw this westernized Asian restaurant, so I changed mind and go in this one instead. Definitely made the right decision. The drink selections is wide for an Asian restaurant. I had Ciroc Apple Martini twice, which is very smooth (a great choice of Ciroc vodka - the smoothest flavor vodka). For appetizer, I had torched tuna with marinated cucumber (Japanese appetizer). The tuna is fresh and tender and melts in your mouth. And the soy kind of sauce is to die for. I had salt and pepper calamari Asian dish. It is fresh, tender and flavorful. I love calamari and I think this the best salt and pepper calamari I ever had. I think the common factor here is "Fresh". I enjoyed everything. Bartender Fei and front guy Ken are very hopitalable. I am sure that I will go back here frequently in the future. read more

Based on previous reviews and location, I met a friend here for lunch today. Not (favorably) impressed. The place was empty, even at lunch time. We were handed dinner menus and had to specifically ask for lunch menus. Food was OK, not great. Fried rice barely warm. Sushi OK, not great. Service was meh, although they were right on it to get our credit card. Will I go back? Probably not. Disappointing - far better choices elsewhere. read more

Came here with my bf to visit granma and was pleasantly surprised by this gem! The portions were huge and the food was delicious. I'd recommend the tofu eggplant dish and the pork. The service was amazing, our waitress was efficient, friendly, and fast! Also this place would especially be nice at dinner because of the interior, the lights were cute and the bar area looked nice. Great service and good food. Due to covid the buffet our friends recommended was closed, but we still wanted to check out their menu for dinner. It was a table for 7 on a Friday night. It was fairly empty around dinner time but we were not complaining. We ordered a lot of food and it was just enough for the 7 of us and surprisingly there were no leftovers. Their drinks were phenomenal!! We ordered mai tais for the table and the bartender had a good pour and was not stingy with the alcohol. Their snow mountain sushi roll was amazing!!! Perfectly fried shrimp tempura with the perfect amount of crab stick on top. The food was good and filling, but it was fake Chinese food. Food that I can get at any other Chinese take out place without dine in. Nothing really special about it. It was still good with great service though. Went here for mother's day and had no problem getting a reservation on short notice. Jade's dining room was very large and they had a lot of customers. We started off with some sashimi which was very good. We also ordered vegetable tempura which was good as well, surprisingly, their sweet potato tempura rolls (dubbed "Idaho rolls" at Jade) were of a lower quality and were quite dry. For entrees, their pu pu platter was large and had a good assortment of items. The MaLa Spicy Beef was good, decently spicy, and an impressive dish visually. Their mu shu pork and it's accompaniments did not taste that good, and seemed like old rejected ingredients had been used. Overall, not a bad place. read more

My friends and I enjoy Jade. It is one of the nicer "sit down" Chinese restaurants in the area. The atmosphere is very nice, in an old mill and very spacious. The menu is quite diverse and has some nice drink and food specials. Everything has nice presentation and is always very fresh. Have not yet tried the buffet but perhaps someday. This is hands down the best Chinese buffet you will ever have. It's definitely pricier than a regular buffet ($21ish) but if you like seafood and sushi...you'll get your money's worth. The sushi on this buffet is top quality. Tender, fresh, and delicious! I have been privileged with the best Chinese food in the country: China Sales in Brookline; Golden Ginger in Wilmington; Boston - China Town (Real Chinese)... I had the salt and pepper pork and it did not disappoint, it's legitimate and delicious. Salt and pepper wings and calamari were also good on the few other occasions I ordered takeout. Crab rangoons were good by basic standards, same for the pork lo mein. But I was more impressed with the main entrees like the Yunan beef, it was very delicious. Main dishes are typically a little more pricy especially since it doesnt come with white rice but the quality and portion of the main dishes Ive had so far makes it worthwhile. Service was attentive and the dine in atmosphere is also very stylish, I would love to go back at some point soon and try the mala spicy hotpot and some of the other entrees. read more

A new kid in town! My girlfriend and I went out to try this place on a Thursday night. The wait staff is typical of most Chinese places, 1 or 2 waiters with 15+ tables each and razor like precision of executing orders. They are always walking at a breakneck speed but are well mannered and to the point. They forgot our water when our drinks arrived and I swear the waiter almost sprinted and came back with two glasses immediately. The maki sushi combo and home style tofu and vegetables were a solid 7/10, nothing to report home about. Mediocre selection of beer but an excellent selection of cocktails and of course bowls to share. My vegetarian girlfriend also had no problem ordering a few appetizers that suited her dining criteria. The atmosphere was quite nice with a variety of decorative lighting and an exceptionally clean dining area (we will see how that holds up after a couple months use). Plenty of parking and can almost be a scenic night on the water as the sun goes down over the small pond across the lot haha! read more

I ordered food from Jade in N Andover last night. Two items totaled $52. I ordered the chicken Lo Mein $14.70 as well as a Spider Maki: $15.93. The order arrived one hour later than originally scheduled. the food was inedible. The Maki was cold, gummy and inedible. The chicken Lo Mein was almost devoid of chicken and was very oily and also inedible. $52 is a lot of money to spend on two items. I am very disappointed at the quality of the food and how late it arrived. I am asking for a refund minus the tip for the delivery person. The entire order was tossed as was inedible. Perhaps dining in is a totally different experience but the delivery failed miserably. read more

Crab rangoons were tough and chewy with very little filling, tofu and veg dish was over cooked (broccoli was almost beige) and the sauce was gross. We were so disappointed. read more
