All Golden Krust are not created equally.. but i must say the Clermont location has AMAZING Oxtail Rasta Pasta. I do enjoy the food at majority of all the Golden Krust locations, but this was my first time having the Oxtail Pasta. It was amazing. I frequent Gokden Krust every month or every other month as they offer real food on the days i may not feel like cooking. This location also has good Jerk Pork as well. I will be back for more of the Oxtail Pasta for sure!! I do appreciate the updates to the ambiance the locations have made. It looks nice. I've been to Golden Krust many times and the food is always really good. Sometimes it's a hit or miss with how tender some of the tougher meats are, like the oxtails and goat; but there is no other restaurant in the Clermont area that offers Jamaican food. The prices have gone up considerably, especially the oxtails (ranging between $16-18 for a small); around $11 for other meals. Typically the small is enough to feed two people if you don't eat too much during one serving. Otherwise, get a large for a hefty amount. I also wish they still served the macaroni as a side dish. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant. Perhaps start with a small, because it truly depends on the cook of the day with how great the meal is (the flavors never change, however). read more

This has not been the first time here. Love their meat pies. But sometimes I just can't resist getting a meal to go. Can't go wrong with the jerk, chicken or oxtail. Comes along with rice and a vegetable and the ladies there never skimp. A small is plenty big enough for two people. Was on vacation and this was my go to spot for good food. I called the first time because I know Veggie Pattie's are usually the first to go and sometimes the selection of food can be limited due to things selling out. However, the general who answered the phone was very polite and patient. He gave me a run down of everything they had left and told me tek time come down. When I reach nuff food was left. The general pack up the plate nice and proper. The goat was real good. The veggie patty was to die for. The oxtail could use a bit more love. The jerk chicken was alright but the vibe did nice. This was my first time trying this place. We wanted a quick snack before we left Clermont to head back to Orlando for dinner in a few hours. So my boyfriend & I each got a Jamaican Patty. He went with the original beef patty & I decided to try the jerk chicken patty. Both were good, not the best I've had these were more mushy rather than the actual meat. We also got a Jamaican fruit punch which was good. After we sat down my boyfriend checked into Yelp & there was a check-in offer for a free patty, so he asked the manager if he could use it even though we already paid & got our food; he said yes which was very nice of him. So we got another beef patty since my boyfriend liked it so much. Next time I think we might go for one of the meals because the food on the hot bar where they make your meals looked good. What? Five stars for a Caribbean restaurant in a strip center that doesn't even have table cloths or waitress service? You're darn tooting! It's all about the food. Let's start with the Jamaican meat pies. At $1.80 and 1.85 respectively the spicy beef and chicken meat pies were a real delight. Flaky crust filled with a generous amount of perfectly seasoned meat they're a real treat. I also ordered the small pork dish with rice and veggies. Don't order the large unless you're trying to feed a family of four. The small order was more than enough for two with some leftovers. Stopped in for a quick Patty and was very impressed! I've known of other locations but never took the time to try them out. The place is small but has plenty of two person tables. Music was good and customer service was great the manager on duty was very helpful and actually let me use my yelp check in coupon after I already paid and received my food. I will definitely be stopping in again and I highly recommend Golden Krust . I had the mild beef Patty and my girlfriend had the Caribbean jerk chicken patty which was just as good. The Clermont Golden Krust Caribbean Bakery and Grill is in a run down strip mall next to a gym off of Highway 50. Don't let this deter you because the food is seriously delicious and the service is super friendly. You will feel welcome as soon as you walk into the restaurant. I stopped in today to buy some spicy beef patties ($2.00each) and a Holiday Stout Bun. ($15.00) Their patties are amazing!! The pastry crust is yummy enough to eat alone. When you taste the crust with the savory meat the combination is an explosion of deliciousness. They offer lots of other authentic island dishes in addition to the patties. There is a full bakery that makes buns, breads and pastries. These items are also supplied to some of the local grocers and restaurants in Florida. read more

We came here feigning something sweet and got their rum cake and I think a lemon one. I didn't like the rum, but my husband did, and their other cake was good. I'll have to try their food one day. HOLY COW! This is some amazing Caribbean food! The Jerk chicken wings were the best I've had anywhere, and the meat pies are incredibly flavorful. Just tried it for lunch. The place is well kept and the food is tasty and quite a variety of fare there. We'll definitely have to try some of the deserts next time. The food at the restaurant has gotten worse and worse. The jerk pork is either not cooked enough or so dry it's inedible. The oxtail don't taste savory like it used to, plus everything is sky high in price. For what I pay for a meal at Golden Krust, I can get a better tasting meal from many other restaurants in the area that would include a salad and some type of bread. I found this through Yelp. I was not expecting to find a Jamaican restaurant in Clermont. The staff is friendly and welcoming, the restaurant clean and the food is fresh (it was 7 p.m. when I went). I had the oxtail with rice and peas and cabbage. The oxtail was tender and flavorful but a tad salty TIP-no salt needed, let your flavors shine through cause they are tasty. My mom and I visited this restaurant (I'm guessing around 2:00 in the afternoon) while we were in the area yesterday. The restaurant looked really clean and had a good atmosphere. We purchased two small oxtail dinners, a spicy Jamaican beef patty, ginger tea and a slice of coconut cake. My total was around 36.00 and the food looked so good. We got home and ate the delicious coconut cake and the patty and put the rest of the food in the fridge. It had been a long day for us and I didn't return to the oxtail dinner until around 3am this morning. When I grabbed one of the plates out the fridge I could smell something sour. The oxtails seemed fine and the cabbage seemed fine, but the rice had gone bad. Not only could you taste it but you could see the sour lines in the rice as it was stirred. When the shop opened I called to let them know that the food was bad. The lady I spoke with said to come in and she would give me some more rice. I informed her that I don't live in Clermont but in Mount dora and to come all the way there for some rice is a 86mile drive. She took my name and said whenever I do come in, she left a note to get a raincheck on the rice. It is a slim possibility that I will go to another location, but I don't think I will go back to this one........even for the free rice. read more
