I know Golden Crust Food and I've never been a fan, BUT their patty's are always on point. Not only were THESE patty's not good, the customer service was awful. I do love the ambiance of the restaurant, but the "young" lady who was in there was so unpleasant, so unfriendly, so unbothered, and so unconcerned. We waited 15 minutes before she acknowledged we were there. I understand that there are orders coming in from Uber, etc. At least acknowledge us and then continue. We only wanted 4 patties and a drink. The patty's were inconsistent. Some meaty and some barely with meat. But they all tasted the same, tasteless. If you are looking for disgusting food cooked days ago, this is the place to go. I ordered oxtail, which was to come with rice and peas, cabbage and plantains. The plantains were missing, the oxtail was horribly seasoned and didn't taste like oxtails. I also ordered jerk chicken, which clearly was not jerked today. I could not eat it. Had to just take the L and eat the festival. The oxtail was tougher than Clarissa Shields and Tesehki Malone combined. I called them to let them know that the meal did not match the description on the UberEats app and that the jerk chicken was stale. The person who answered tried to lie to me about the chicken being jerked today. I told her I could share pictures and her response was "I can share pictures too". Well, here are the pictures... Went into Golden Krust for lunch. They were not very busy and luckily I was able to find parking which is extremely challenging at this location. Sometimes you may have to park in the back of the building and walk as it is in a small plaza with limited spaces. I ordered the king fish with cabbage and rice and peas. Service was quick. Never with a smile, but not rude as several employees act as if it is beneath them to take your order. Food was hot and flavorful. Fish was a little tougher than usual but still really good I frequent this location and food quality is always consistent. Make sure to look at the daily specials which can save you dollars on pricey favorites. Overall decent priced food with very big portion sizes and service that is underwhelming. The kingfish I ordered wasn't done in the middle. It's a health hazard. Undercooked fish. I asked for a refund. The woman (I think a manager) stated she needed the receipt. Stopped by after a doctor's appointment to grab a quick snack. First time at Golden Krust. Traffic is pretty bad around here in the afternoon (be careful of reckless drivers). I was able to find parking here since it's located in a plaza with a Walgreens next to it. Came in the afternoon and I was the only customer here. I saw a customer leave as I was parking. The cashier lady was nice and greeted me with a smile. The restaurant seems well maintained. Lots of things on the menu and in the displays. I've been craving beef patties so I just ordered two spicy beef patties that came to a total of $4.01. I took my patties to go and ate one in my car. It's not too spicy but it does have a slight kick to it. The crust is a golden yellow color but it was too chewy for me. I had beef patties from other restaurants and so far this has been one of the tougher crusts. Definitely need something to drink to wash down the crust because some parts can be dry. The beef itself is tasty. But overall the party is nothing too special but it's not entirely bad. Overall, I give this place a 3 stars just from this experience. Nothing terrible but nothing too special about it. Maybe next time I'll try their entrees. read more

During our visit in Florida, I wanted to try something new instead of all the chain restaurants. Something authentic and what I would have to search for at home If I REAAALLY wanted it. While waiting at the Sprint two doors down from Golden Krust, I yelped the area and this spot popped up. My family was more than willing to try something new, so we all agreed that we would eat here after the Sprint store. Walking into the restaurant, the first thing I noticed was their HUGE menu. So much to choose from! I ordered the Braised Oxtail with cabbage and rice and each meal comes with plantains. My husband ordered 6 patties (not knowing how big each one was). The portions are absolutely huge! Basically overfilling the To-Go Trays. The braised oxtail fell off of the bone, and the sauce wasn't too strong. It was good, but I guess I was expecting more flavor. The plantains are my absolute favorite! So delicious and cooked perfectly! The patties were.. eh. Okay I would say. My husband liked the shrimp. I bought a small bowl of red peas soup w/oxtail on a Saturday 4/1 evening. When I got home I went to eat the soup. Unbeknownst to me not one shred of oxtail in the soup no evidence oxtail was cooked in the soup. Told her the person who served me should of given me the option to refuse the soup because all the meat was gon and if I wanted just the red peas soup only. It had no dumpling either. Just red peas and pieces of sweet potatoe from what I can make out. I recorded myself stiring up the soup and I went back on the Tuesday and to talk to the owner. She was rude and said she cooked 15lbs of oxtail in the soup. I explain to her and showed her the video. She all ready made up her mind she wasn't going to give me back my money or even offer a compromise. I showed her my receipt. Who the de hell gon buy a bowl of red peas soup with no meat in it, nobody thats who. We went back and forth about the oxtail not being in the soup. I ask her why you call it red peas soup w/oxtail if there is not oxtail in the soup. She need to say red peas soup cooked in oxtail broth. Then your customer would know not to expect any oxtail meat cause you list it as oxtail broth. I guess she needed the $5.98 more than I, terrible customer service and I for one will not buy from this store. Awesome place for a a beef patty with coco bread! It reminds me of my days living in NY. There aren't too many Caribbean restaurants in my area so I rely on Golden Krust for a little taste of home. It's a great place for a snack. They also have other meals available. If you like spicy, I recommend their jerk chicken wings! Yum. The people in this restaurant are nice and my only complaint is that they are closed on Sunday's and there isn't much seating. The small dining area is in true Golden Krust Style, but I sure wish it was a little bigger. They have lots of flyers for local reggae parties. They are always playing reggae or soca which takes me back to Brooklyn. Around Easter they have "Easter bun" which my husband, who is Jamaican, loves! I ordered the Curry Goat, and as usual covered my food with extra hot sauce! Big mistake!!! That hot sauce is extremely hot, much hotter than the El-Yucateca hot pepper sauce I use at home. I went back to the counter and asked for a soda, the man behind the counter knew what I did and we both started to crack up. The food here is good, authentic Jamaican cuisine, still not as good as my mom makes it, but very close. I ordered a small portion, and there was so much food I couldn't finish it. Golden Krust bakery makes the beef patties for most Jamaican restaurants in the area, they're ok, best if you bake them, and not reheating them from a frozen package.
