I was stranded for over 4 hours on Saturday, April 12th, thanks to the owner of this company, Steven, who was also my driver, canceling my return trip after drop off.
I'll start from the beginning, bad first impression when Steven called me to tell me he would be at my house in a few minutes. Like any normal person I took this to mean he was less than 5 minutes away. Nope, he didn't arrive till 15 minutes later, no apology, just some mention of traffic. Also he texts like a drunk person couldn't even get his company name right. And kinda drives like drunk too he swerved at one point but maybe just a bad driver.
I expressed worry because his company was a new company I'd never had before and told him I was worried he wouldn't show for pickup or would leave me stranded. He then told me he also owned the company, and claimed he started his company because so many people were being left stranded and bragged about how that would never happen with his company. Well I guess it sure won't when you just cancel their return trip seemingly absolving yourself of the responsibility! Also of note, if you're thirsty and in his car? You're sol, dude won't even allow you to drink water in his precious car. So have fun if you have a 2+ hour trip or something.
While riding I had mentioned doing an easter egg scavenger hunt at the mall and asked him to drop me off at a diff entrance instead of gym. I knew I'd get more exercise walking the mall than going to the gym anyway. He did drop me off at the entrance I asked to be, and asked how long I'd be, I said maybe a few hours that I wasn't sure, and he said he would go back home since I was gonna be that long and that I could call or text for pick up and he would come in a half hour or so. I also asked him to pick me up at the target entrance which was only a minute drive for him, in a direction he had to drive anyway in order to take me home. I was planning to walk there before leaving to get a few groceries. He agreed to that and gave no indication then that he would cancel.
This asshat called up modivcare and reported me for fraud trying to get me in trouble. All because rather than get my exercise at the gym I wanted to get it walking the mall instead. Or because he didn't like that I was walking to get groceries after. Things modivcare told me before was fine to do as long as I'm not having driver drive to another place. (the entrance he dropped me off at was in same facility, the gym is connected to the mall).
I did not discover what he did until I called modivcare and they told me he canceled it. They had to create a return trip to try to get me home and because it was the weekend they couldn't find any drivers. I ended up being stranded there for 4 hours till I gave up and called a friend who had to drive an hour to come and get me. This guy seemed to know that being stranded is a huge problem with modivcare transport so he likely knew this would happen to me. Seemed like he wanted to teach me a lesson - how dare a poor disabled person try to have fun! How dare they try to make their life easier by getting groceries after so they didn't have to take a bus another day!
It should have been no business to him how or where I got my exercise at yet he had to not only be sneaky and not tell me he wasn't coming, so I maybe could have contacted modivcare sooner to get a driver for return ride home, but also try and get me in trouble because what? Because he didn't like that I was walking in the mall instead of the treadmill at the gym? Didn't like that I was walking to get groceries after? (the latter which modivcare has told me before, I am allowed to do as long as I either a. Walk back to the facility or b. Facility is very close by.
Also, I had texted him at 4:04pm to tell him to come pick me up - no reply, so I called 15 minutes later, no answer. Dude didn't even have the decency to tell me he wasn't coming. I had to call Modivcare to find out.
This dude is a heartless monster, who know I'd be stuck there likely all night because of his cancellation, and I just want you all to know if you use his service, what type of person you are supporting!
To the owner : thanks for making a severely depressed autistic person whose having a lot of difficulty already in life feel even worse! It's monsters like you that make this world a bad place. And don't even think you can justify this by trying to claim it's fraud. Exercise is exercise no matter where it is, and I got a lot more walking in that mall doing the scavenger hunt than I would have with going to the gym. There is no excuse for you to cancel my trip like that. No justification. You are a bad person and should be ashamed of yourself. You nearly caused me to have a mental breakdown in Target. Also, there is no uber/lyft/cabs in this area that you can schedule last minute. Had my friend not come to get me I'd have had to call 911, and if they didn't help, hitchhike.
